1 G iosuè era vecchio, ben avanti negli anni. Il Signore gli disse: «Tu sei vecchio, ben avanti negli anni e rimane ancora una grandissima parte del paese da conquistare.

¶ Now when Joshua was old and advanced in years, the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to be possessed.

2 E cco ciò che rimane: tutti i distretti dei Filistei e tutto il territorio dei Ghesuriti,

This is the land that yet remains: all the borders of the Philistines and all Geshuri

3 d al Sior, che scorre a oriente dell’Egitto, sino al confine di Ecron, a settentrione, che è ritenuto territorio cananeo e appartiene ai cinque prìncipi filistei – quello di Gaza, quello di Asdod, quello di Ascalon, quello di Gat, quello di Ecron – e anche agli Avvei;

from the Nile, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted among the Canaanites; five cardinals of the Philistines; the Gazathites and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites, also the Avites;

4 a mezzogiorno, tutto il paese dei Cananei e Meara che è dei Sidoni, fino ad Afec, sino al confine degli Amorei;

towards the Negev all the land of the Canaanites and Mearah that is beside those of Sidon unto Aphek to the border of the Amorite;

5 i l paese di Ghibliti e tutto il Libano verso oriente, da Baal-Gad, ai piedi del monte Ermon, fino all’ingresso di Camat;

and the land of the Giblites and all Lebanon toward the sunrising, from Baalgad at the root of Mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.

6 t utti gli abitanti della regione montuosa dal Libano fino a Misrefot-Maim, tutti i Sidoni. Io li scaccerò davanti ai figli d’Israele; e tu spartisci pure a sorte l’eredità di questo paese fra gl’Israeliti, come t’ho comandato.

All the inhabitants of the mountains from Lebanon unto the hot springs and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the sons of Israel; only thou shalt divide the country by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.

7 S partisci dunque l’eredità di questo paese fra le nove tribù e la mezza tribù di Manasse». Spartizione del paese a oriente del Giordano

¶ Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes and the half tribe of Manasseh,

8 I Rubeniti e i Gaditi, con l’altra metà della tribù di Manasse, hanno ricevuto la loro eredità che Mosè, servo del Signore, diede loro di là dal Giordano, a oriente:

for the other half received their inheritance with the Reubenites and the Gadites, which Moses gave them of the other side of the Jordan eastward, according as Moses the slave of the LORD gave them;

9 d a Aroer sulla sponda del torrente Arnon, e dalla città che è in mezzo alla valle, tutto l’altopiano di Medeba fino a Dibon;

from Aroer, that is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river and all the plain of Medeba unto Dibon;

10 t utte le città di Sicon re degli Amorei, che regnava a Chesbon, sino al confine dei figli di Ammon;

and all the cities of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, unto the borders of the sons of Ammon;

11 G alaad, il territorio dei Ghesuriti e dei Maacatiti, tutto il monte Ermon e tutto Basan fino a Salca;

and Gilead and the borders of the Geshur and Maachath and all Mount Hermon and all Bashan unto Salcah;

12 t utto il regno di Og, in Basan, che regnava ad Astarot e a Edrei, ultimo superstite dei Refaim. Mosè sconfisse questi re e li scacciò.

all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the Rephaim, for these did Moses smite and cast them out of the land.

13 M a i figli d’Israele non scacciarono i Ghesuriti e i Maacatiti; e Ghesur e Maacat abitarono in mezzo a Israele fino a oggi.

Nevertheless, the sons of Israel did not expel those of Geshur and Maachath, but Geshur and Maachath dwell among the Israelites until this day.

14 S olo alla tribù di Levi Mosè non diede nessuna eredità; i sacrifici consumati dal fuoco per il Signore, Dio d’Israele, sono la sua eredità, com’egli disse.

But unto the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance; the sacrifices on fire of the LORD God of Israel are their inheritance, as he said unto them.

15 M osè dunque diede alla tribù dei figli di Ruben la loro parte, secondo le loro famiglie;

And Moses gave unto the tribe of the sons of Reuben according to their families,

16 e ssi ebbero per territorio, partendo da Aroer sulle sponde del torrente Arnon e dalla città che sta in mezzo alla valle, tutto l’altopiano presso Medeba,

and their border was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river and all the plain until Medeba,

17 C hesbon e tutte le sue città che sono sull’altopiano: Dibon, Bamot-Baal, Bet-Baal-Meon,

Heshbon and all her cities that are in the plain, Dibon, and Bamothbaal and Bethbaalmeon,

18 I aas, Chedemot, Mefaat,

and Jahazah and Kedemoth and Mephaath,

19 C hiriataim, Sibma, Seret-Asaar sul monte della valle,

and Kirjathaim and Sibmah and Zarethshahar in the mount of the valley,

20 B et-Peor, le pendici del Pisga e Bet-Iesimot;

and Bethpeor and Ashdothpisgah and Bethjeshimoth,

21 t utte le città dell’altopiano, tutto il regno di Sicon, re degli Amorei che regnava a Chesbon, quello che Mosè sconfisse con i prìncipi di Madian, Evi, Rechem, Sur, Cur e Reba, prìncipi vassalli di Sicon, che abitavano il paese.

and all the cities of the plain and all the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur and Hur and Reba, who were princes of Sihon, dwelling in the country.

22 I figli d’Israele fecero morire di spada, insieme con gli altri, anche l’indovino Balaam, figlio di Beor.

Balaam also, the son of Beor, the diviner, did the sons of Israel slay with the sword among those that were slain by them.

23 A l territorio dei figli di Ruben serviva di confine il Giordano. Questa fu l’eredità dei figli di Ruben, secondo le loro famiglie, con le città e i villaggi annessi.

And the border of the sons of Reuben was the Jordan and the border thereof. This was the inheritance of the sons of Reuben according to their families, these cities with their villages.

24 M osè diede pure alla tribù di Gad, per i figli di Gad, la loro parte, secondo le loro famiglie.

Moses likewise gave unto the tribe of Gad, to the sons of Gad according to their families.

25 E ssi ebbero per territorio Iaezer, tutte le città di Galaad, la metà del paese dei figli di Ammon fino ad Aroer, che sta di fronte a Rabba,

And their border was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead and half of the land of the sons of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah,

26 d a Chesbon fino a Ramat-Mispè e Betonim, da Maanaim sino al confine di Debir,

and from Heshbon unto Ramathmizpeh, and Betonim, and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir,

27 e , nella valle, Bet-Aram, Bet-Nimra, Succot e Safon, residuo del regno di Sicon re di Chesbon, avendo il Giordano per confine sino all’estremità del mare di Chinneret, di là dal Giordano, a oriente.

and the valley of Betharam and Bethnimrah and Succoth and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon, king of Heshbon, the Jordan and its border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side of the Jordan eastward.

28 Q uesta fu l’eredità dei figli di Gad, secondo le loro famiglie, con le città e i villaggi annessi.

This is the inheritance of the sons of Gad according to their families, these cities with their villages.

29 M osè diede pure alla mezza tribù di Manasse, ai figli di Manasse, la loro parte, secondo le loro famiglie.

And Moses also gave unto the half tribe of Manasseh, and it belonged to the half tribe of the sons of Manasseh according to their families.

30 I l loro territorio comprendeva, da Maanaim, tutto Basan, tutto il regno di Og re di Basan, tutti i villaggi di Iair in Basan, in tutto sessanta città.

Their border was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities.

31 L a metà di Galaad, Astarot e Edrei, città del regno di Og in Basan, toccarono ai figli di Machir, figlio di Manasse, cioè alla metà dei figli di Machir, secondo le loro famiglie.

And half of Gilead and Ashtaroth and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were given to the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, even to one half of the sons of Machir, according to their families.

32 Q ueste sono le parti che Mosè fece quando era nelle pianure di Moab, di là dal Giordano, di fronte a Gerico, a oriente.

This is what Moses distributed in inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side of the Jordan of Jericho, eastward.

33 M a alla tribù di Levi Mosè non diede nessuna eredità: il Signore, il Dio d’Israele, è la sua eredità, com’egli aveva detto.

But to the tribe of Levi Moses did not give any inheritance; the LORD God of Israel is their inheritance, as he said unto them.
