1 T utti gli Israeliti furono registrati nelle genealogie e si trovano iscritti nel libro dei re d’Israele. Giuda fu deportato a Babilonia a causa delle sue infedeltà.

¶ So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies, and behold, they were written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, who were carried away to Babylon for their rebellion.

2 I primi abitanti che si stabilirono nelle loro proprietà e nelle loro città erano Israeliti, sacerdoti, Leviti e Netinei.

Now the first inhabitants that dwelt in their possessions in their cities were thus of Israel, as of the priests, Levites, and the Nethinims.

3 A Gerusalemme si stabilirono alcuni dei figli di Giuda, dei figli di Beniamino e dei figli di Efraim e di Manasse.

And in Jerusalem dwelt of the sons of Judah and of the sons of Benjamin and of the sons of Ephraim and Manasseh:

4 D ei figli di Perez, figlio di Giuda: Utai, figlio di Ammiud, figlio di Omri, figlio di Imri, figlio di Bani.

Uthai, the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the sons of Pharez, the son of Judah.

5 D ei Siloniti: Asaia il primogenito e i suoi figli.

And of Shiloni: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.

6 D ei figli di Zera: Ieuel e i suoi fratelli, seicentonovanta in tutto.

And of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their brethren, six hundred and ninety.

7 D ei figli di Beniamino: Sallu, figlio di Mesullam, figlio di Odaiva, figlio di Assenua;

And of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu, the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hasenuah;

8 I bneia, figlio di Ieroam; Ela, figlio di Uzzi, figlio di Micri; Mesullam, figlio di Sefatia, figlio di Reuel, figlio d’Ibnia;

and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham; and Elah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri; and Meshullam, the son of Shephathiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah;

9 e i loro fratelli, secondo le loro generazioni, novecentocinquantasei in tutto. Tutti questi erano capi delle rispettive case patriarcali.

and their brethren, according to their generations, nine hundred and fifty-six. All these men were heads of the fathers in the houses of their fathers.

10 D ei sacerdoti: Iedaia, Ieoiarib, Iachin,

And of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, and Jachin;

11 A zaria, figlio di Chilchia, figlio di Mesullam, figlio di Sadoc, figlio di Meraiot, figlio di Aitub, preposto alla casa di Dio,

and Azariah, the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, prince of the house of God;

12 A daia, figlio di Ieroam, figlio di Pasur, figlio di Malchia; Maesai, figlio di Adiel, figlio di Iazera, figlio di Mesullam, figlio di Mesillemit, figlio di Immer;

and Adaiah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchijah; and Maasiai, the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer;

13 e i loro fratelli, capi delle rispettive case patriarcali: millesettecentosessanta, uomini valorosissimi, occupati a compiere il servizio della casa di Dio.

and their brethren, heads of the houses of their fathers, one thousand seven hundred and sixty, mighty men of valour for the work of the ministry of the house of God.

14 D ei Leviti: Semaia, figlio di Cassub, figlio di Azricam, figlio di Casabia, dei figli di Merari;

¶ And of the Levites: Shemaiah, the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;

15 B acbaccar, Cheres, Galal, Mattania, figlio di Mica, figlio di Zicri, figlio di Asaf;

and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah, the son of Micah, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph;

16 O badia, figlio di Semaia, figlio di Galal, figlio di Iedutun; Berechia, figlio di Asa, figlio di Elcana, che abitava nei villaggi dei Netofatiti.

and Obadiah, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah, the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites.

17 D ei portinai: Sallum, Accub, Talmon, Aiman e i loro fratelli; Sallum era il capo;

And the porters: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brethren; Shallum was the head.

18 e tale è rimasto fino a oggi, alla porta del re, che è a oriente. Essi sono quelli che furono i portieri dell’accampamento dei figli di Levi.

And until now in the companies of the sons of Levi these have been the porters in the king’s gate towards the east.

19 S allum, figlio di Core, figlio di Ebiasaf, figlio di Corac, e i suoi fratelli, i Corachiti, della casa di suo padre, erano preposti all’opera del servizio come custodi delle porte del tabernacolo, mentre i loro padri erano stati preposti come custodi dell’entrata all’accampamento del Signore;

And Shallum, the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren of the house of his father, the Korahites, were over the work of the ministry, keepers of the gates of the tabernacle; and their fathers, being over the camp of the LORD, were keepers of the entry.

20 F ineas, figlio di Eleazar, era stato anticamente loro capo, e il Signore era con lui.

And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, was the captain over them in time past, and the LORD was with him.

21 Z accaria, figlio di Meselemia, era portiere all’ingresso della tenda di convegno.

And Zechariah, the son of Meshelemiah, was porter of the door of the tabernacle of the testimony.

22 T utti questi, scelti per essere custodi degli ingressi, erano duecentododici ed erano iscritti nelle genealogie secondo i loro villaggi. Davide e Samuele il veggente li avevano stabiliti nelle loro funzioni.

All these which were chosen to be porters in the gates were two hundred and twelve when they were reckoned by their genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel, the seer, ordained in their set office.

23 E ssi e i loro figli erano preposti alla custodia degli ingressi della casa del Signore, cioè della casa del tabernacolo.

So they and their sons had the oversight of the gates of the house of the LORD, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.

24 C ’erano dei portinai ai quattro lati: a oriente, a occidente, a settentrione e a mezzogiorno.

Towards the four winds were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and Negev.

25 I loro fratelli, che abitavano nei loro villaggi, dovevano ogni tanto venire a stare dagli altri per sette giorni,

And their brethren, who were in their villages, came every seven days in their set times with them.

26 p oiché i quattro capi portinai, Leviti, erano sempre in servizio e avevano anche la sorveglianza delle camere e dei tesori della casa di Dio,

For these Levites, the four chief porters, were in their set office and were over the chambers and treasures of the house of God.

27 e passavano la notte intorno alla casa di Dio, perché avevano l’incarico di custodirla, e a loro spettava d’aprirla tutte le mattine.

And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof every morning pertained to them.

28 T ra di loro alcuni dovevano prendersi cura degli arredi del culto, che essi contavano quando si portavano nel tempio e quando si riportavano fuori.

And certain of them had the charge of the vessels of ministry, that they should account for them when they were brought in and out.

29 A ltri avevano l’incarico di custodire gli utensili, tutti i vasi sacri, il fior di farina, il vino, l’olio, l’incenso e gli aromi.

Some of them also were appointed to oversee the vessels and all the instruments of the sanctuary and the fine flour and the wine and the oil and the frankincense and the spices.

30 Q uelli che preparavano i profumi aromatici erano figli di sacerdoti.

And some of the sons of the priests made the ointment of the spices.

31 M attitia, uno dei Leviti, primogenito di Sallum il Corachita, aveva il compito di badare alle cose che si dovevano cuocere sulla piastra.

And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum, the Korahite, had the set office over the things that were made in the pans.

32 E alcuni dei loro fratelli, tra i Cheatiti, erano incaricati di preparare per ogni sabato i pani della presentazione.

And other of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the showbread, to order it every sabbath.

33 Q uesti sono i cantori, capi delle famiglie levitiche, che abitavano nelle camere del tempio ed erano esenti da ogni altro servizio, perché il loro servizio li teneva occupati giorno e notte.

And of these there were singers, princes of the fathers of the Levites, who remained in the chambers free from other work; for they were employed in that work day and night.

34 Q uesti sono i capi delle famiglie levitiche, capi secondo le loro generazioni; essi stavano a Gerusalemme. Genealogia di Saul e di Gionatan

These heads of the fathers of the Levites were heads throughout their generations; these dwelt at Jerusalem.

35 A Gabaon abitavano Ieiel, padre di Gabaon, la cui moglie si chiamava Maaca,

¶ And in Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jehiel, whose wife’s name was Maachah;

36 A bdon, suo figlio primogenito, Sur, Chis, Baal, Ner, Nadab,

and his firstborn son Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,

37 G hedor, Aio, Zaccaria e Miclot.

Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth.

38 M iclot generò Simeam. Anch’essi abitavano di fronte ai loro fratelli a Gerusalemme insieme con i loro fratelli.

And Mikloth begat Shimeam. And they also dwelt with their brethren at Jerusalem, next to their brethren.

39 N er generò Chis; Chis generò Saul; Saul generò Gionatan, Malchi-Sua, Abinadab ed Esbaal.

And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

40 I l figlio di Gionatan fu Merib-Baal, e Merib-Baal generò Mica.

And the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal, and Meribbaal begat Micah.

41 I figli di Mica furono: Piton, Melec, Taarea e Aaz.

And the sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.

42 A az generò Iara; Iara generò Alemet, Azmavet e Zimri. Zimri generò Mosa.

And Ahaz begat Jarah, and Jarah begat Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza,

43 M osa generò Binea, che ebbe per figlio Refaia, che ebbe per figlio Eleasa, che ebbe per figlio Asel.

and Moza begat Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.

44 A sel ebbe sei figli. Questi sono i loro nomi: Azricam, Bocru, Ismaele, Searia, Obadia e Canan. Questi sono i figli di Asel.

And Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Azel.
