1 S almo di Davide. Signore, io t’invoco; affrèttati a rispondermi. Porgi orecchio alla mia voce quando grido a te.

¶ LORD, I have called unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

2 L a mia preghiera sia in tua presenza come l’incenso, l’elevazione delle mie mani come il sacrificio della sera.

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense, the gift of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

3 S ignore, poni una guardia davanti alla mia bocca, sorveglia l’uscio delle mie labbra.

Set a watch, O LORD, upon my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

4 N on inclinare il mio cuore ad alcuna cosa malvagia, per commettere azioni malvagie con i malfattori, e fa’ che io non mangi delle loro delizie.

Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to do works with ungodliness with the men that work iniquity, and let me not eat of their dainties.

5 M i percuota pure il giusto, sarà un favore; mi riprenda pure, sarà come olio sul capo; il mio capo non lo rifiuterà. Io continuo a pregare mentre fanno il male.

¶ Let the righteous smite me in mercy, and let him reprove me: and let not a flattering evil prince anoint my head, for my prayer shall ever be against his evil.

6 I loro giudici saranno precipitati per il fianco delle rocce e si darà ascolto alle mie parole, perché sono piacevoli.

Their judges shall be thrown down from strong places; they shall hearken unto my words; for they are sweet.

7 C ome quando si ara e si rompe la terra, le nostre ossa sono sparse all’ingresso del soggiorno dei morti.

Our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol, as when one cuts and cleaves wood upon the earth.

8 A te sono rivolti i miei occhi, o Dio, Signore; in te mi rifugio, non abbandonare l’anima mia.

Therefore mine eyes look unto thee, O GOD the Lord; in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

9 S alvami dal laccio che mi hanno teso e dalle insidie dei malfattori.

Keep me from the hands of the snare which they have laid for me, and from the snares of the workers of iniquity.

10 C adano gli empi nelle loro proprie reti, mentre io passerò oltre.

Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, whilst I pass on ahead forever.
