1 R isvègliati, risvègliati, rivèstiti della tua forza, Sion! Mettiti le tue più splendide vesti, Gerusalemme, città santa! Poiché da ora in poi non entreranno più in te né l’incirconciso né l’impuro.

¶ Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for from now on the uncircumcised and the unclean shall no longer come into thee.

2 S cuotiti di dosso la polvere, àlzati, mettiti seduta, Gerusalemme! Sciogliti le catene dal collo, figlia di Sion che sei in schiavitù!

Shake thyself from the dust; arise and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

3 I nfatti così parla il Signore: «Voi siete stati venduti per nulla e sarete riscattati senza denaro».

For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nothing; and ye shall be redeemed without money.

4 P oiché così parla il Signore, Dio: «Il mio popolo discese già in Egitto per abitarvi; poi l’Assiro lo oppresse senza motivo.

For thus has the Lord GOD said, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian captured them without cause.

5 O ra che faccio io qui», dice il Signore, «quando il mio popolo è stato deportato per nulla? Quelli che lo dominano lanciano urli», dice il Signore, «e il mio nome è del continuo, tutti i giorni insultato;

Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nothing? And those among my people that take rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name is continually blasphemed every day.

6 p erciò il mio popolo conoscerà il mio nome; perciò saprà, in quel giorno, che sono io che ho parlato. Eccomi!»

Therefore my people shall know my name for this reason in that day: for even I that speak, behold, I shall be present.

7 Q uanto sono belli, sui monti, i piedi del messaggero di buone notizie, che annuncia la pace, che è araldo di notizie liete, che annuncia la salvezza, che dice a Sion: «Il tuo Dio regna!»

¶ How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good tidings, that publishes peace, that brings good tidings of good, that publishes saving health, that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigns!

8 A scolta le tue sentinelle! Esse alzano la voce, prorompono tutte assieme in grida di gioia; esse infatti vedono con i propri occhi il Signore che ritorna a Sion.

The voice of thy watchmen! They shall lift up the voice; together they shall rejoice: for they shall see eye to eye, how the LORD shall return to bring again Zion.

9 P rorompete assieme in grida di gioia, rovine di Gerusalemme! Poiché il Signore consola il suo popolo, salva Gerusalemme.

Sing praises, rejoice together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.

10 I l Signore ha rivelato il suo braccio santo agli occhi di tutte le nazioni; tutte le estremità della terra vedranno la salvezza del nostro Dio.

The LORD has made bare the arm of his holiness before the eyes of all the Gentiles; and all the ends of the earth shall see the saving health of our God.

11 P artite, partite, uscite di là! Non toccate nulla d’impuro! Uscite di mezzo a lei! Purificatevi, voi che portate i vasi del Signore!

Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from there, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.

12 V oi infatti non partirete in fretta, non ve ne andrete come chi fugge; poiché il Signore camminerà davanti a voi, il Dio d’Israele sarà la vostra retroguardia. Il servo del Signore e la sua opera

For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will gather you together.

13 E cco, il mio servo prospererà, sarà innalzato, esaltato, reso sommamente eccelso.

¶ Behold, my slave shall be prospered; he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

14 C ome molti, vedendolo, sono rimasti sbigottiti (tanto era disfatto il suo sembiante al punto da non sembrare più un uomo, e il suo aspetto al punto da non sembrare più un figlio d’uomo),

As many rejected thee, in such manner was his likeness and his beauty, disfigured from the sons of men:

15 c osì molte saranno le nazioni di cui egli desterà l’ammirazione; i re chiuderanno la bocca davanti a lui, poiché vedranno quello che non era loro mai stato narrato, apprenderanno quello che non avevano udito.

But he shall sprinkle many Gentiles; the kings shall shut their mouths over him: for that which had not been told them they shall see; and that which they had not heard they shall understand.
