7 N ei giorni della sua afflizione, della sua vita raminga, Gerusalemme si ricorda di tutti i beni preziosi che possedeva fin dai giorni antichi; ora che il suo popolo è caduto in mano all’avversario e nessuno la soccorre, i suoi nemici la guardano e ridono del suo misero stato.

Zain Jerusalem remembered the days of her affliction and of her rebellions and of all her desirable things that she had in the times of old when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and no one helped her; the enemies saw her and mocked at her days of rest.

8 G erusalemme ha gravemente peccato; perciò è divenuta come una cosa impura. Tutti quelli che la onoravano la disprezzano, perché hanno visto la sua nudità; lei stessa sospira e volta la faccia.

Cheth Jerusalem has grievously sinned; therefore she is removed; all that honoured her despise her because they have seen her nakedness; yea, she sighs and is turned backward.

10 L ’avversario ha steso la mano su quanto lei aveva di più caro; infatti ha visto i pagani entrare nel suo santuario, quei pagani riguardo ai quali tu avevi comandato che non entrassero nella tua assemblea.

12 N ulla di simile vi accada, o voi che passate di qui! Osservate, guardate se c’è dolore simile al dolore che mi tormenta, e con il quale il Signore mi ha colpita nel giorno della sua ardente ira.

¶ Lamed Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there is any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is come unto me because the LORD has afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.

13 E gli dall’alto ha scagliato un fuoco, l’ha fatto discendere nelle mie ossa; ha teso una rete ai miei piedi, mi ha rovesciata a terra, mi ha gettata nella desolazione, in un languore senza fine.

14 L a sua mano ha legato il giogo dei miei peccati, che s’intrecciano, gravano sul mio collo; egli ha stroncato la mia forza. Il Signore mi ha dato in mani alle quali non posso resistere.

Nun The yoke of my rebellions is bound in his hand; they are wreathed and come up upon my neck; he has made my strength to fall; the Lord has delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.

15 I l Signore ha abbattuto dentro le mura tutti i miei prodi, ha raccolto contro di me una grande moltitudine per schiacciare i miei giovani; il Signore ha calcato, come in un tino, la vergine figlia di Giuda.

Samech The Lord has trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me; he has called a company against me to crush my young men; the Lord has trodden the virgin daughter of Judah as in a winepress.

16 P er questo io piango; i miei occhi, i miei occhi si sciolgono in lacrime, perché da me è lontano il consolatore che può ravvivare la mia vita. I miei figli sono desolati, perché il nemico ha trionfato».

Ain For these things I weep; my eyes, my eyes stream with water because the comforter that gives rest unto my soul has left me; my sons are desolate because the enemy prevailed.

17 S ion stende le mani, ma non c’è nessuno che la consoli; il Signore ha comandato ai nemici di Giacobbe di circondarlo da tutte le parti. Gerusalemme è, in mezzo a loro, come una cosa impura.

Pe Zion spread forth her hands and has no comforter; the LORD gave a commandment against Jacob that his enemies should besiege him; Jerusalem was an abomination in the midst of them.

18 « Il Signore è giusto, poiché io mi sono ribellata alla sua parola. Ascoltate, o popoli tutti, e vedete il mio dolore! Le mie vergini e i miei giovani sono stati portati in schiavitù.

20 G uarda, Signore, come sono angosciata! Le mie viscere si commuovono, il cuore mi si sconvolge in seno, perché la mia ribellione è stata grave. Fuori, la spada mi priva dei figli; dentro, è la morte.

Resh Look, O LORD; for I am in distress; my bowels are troubled; my heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled; abroad the sword bereaves; at home there is as death.

21 M i sentono sospirare; non c’è chi mi consoli. Tutti i miei nemici hanno udito la mia sciagura e si rallegrano di ciò che tu hai fatto. Fa’ venire il giorno che hai annunciato, e allora saranno come me.

Schin They have heard that I sigh; and there is no comforter for me; all my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it. Thou hast brought the day that thou hast spoken of, but they shall be like unto me.

22 T ieni presente tutta la loro malvagità e trattali come hai trattato me a causa di tutti i miei peccati. I miei sospiri infatti sono numerosi e il mio cuore è languente».

Tau Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them as thou hast done unto me for all my rebellions; for my sighs are many, and my heart is filled with pain.
