1 Q uanto alla sovvenzione destinata ai santi, è superfluo che io ve ne scriva,

¶ For regarding the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

2 p erché conosco la prontezza dell’animo vostro, per la quale mi vanto di voi presso i Macedoni, dicendo che l’Acaia è pronta fin dall’anno scorso; e il vostro zelo ne ha stimolati moltissimi.

For I know your ready desire, for which I gloried of you to those of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago, and your zeal has provoked many.

3 M a ho mandato i fratelli affinché il nostro vantarci di voi non abbia ad essere smentito a questo riguardo; e affinché, come dicevo, siate pronti;

Yet I have sent the brethren lest our glorying of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready,

4 n on vorrei che, venendo con me dei Macedoni e non vedendovi pronti, noi (per non dire voi) abbiamo a vergognarci di questa nostra fiducia.

lest haply if those of Macedonia come with me and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed of this our confidence.

5 P erciò ho ritenuto necessario esortare i fratelli a venire da voi prima di me per preparare in anticipo la vostra offerta già promessa, affinché essa sia pronta come offerta di generosità e non di avarizia.

Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would first go unto you and prepare beforehand your blessing, of which ye had given notice before that the same might be ready as a blessing, and not as of covetousness.

6 O ra dico questo: chi semina scarsamente mieterà altresì scarsamente; e chi semina abbondantemente mieterà altresì abbondantemente.

¶ But this I say, He who sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly, and he who sows in blessings shall also reap blessings.

7 D ia ciascuno come ha deliberato in cuor suo; non di mala voglia né per forza, perché Dio ama un donatore gioioso.

Each one according as they purpose in their heart, so let them give, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

8 D io è potente da far abbondare su di voi ogni grazia affinché, avendo sempre in ogni cosa tutto quello che vi è necessario, abbondiate per ogni opera buona;

And God is able to make all grace abound in you that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

9 c ome sta scritto: «Egli ha profuso, egli ha dato ai poveri, la sua giustizia dura in eterno».

As it is written, He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains for ever.

10 C olui che fornisce al seminatore la semenza e il pane da mangiare fornirà e moltiplicherà la vostra semenza, e accrescerà i frutti della vostra giustizia.

Now he that supplies seed to the sower shall also supply bread for food and shall multiply your seed sown and shall increase the growing of the fruits of your righteousness,

11 C osì, arricchiti in ogni cosa, potrete esercitare una larga generosità, la quale produrrà rendimento di grazie a Dio per mezzo di noi.

so that being enriched in everything to all generosity, which works out through us thanksgiving unto God.

12 P erché l’adempimento di questo servizio sacro non solo supplisce ai bisogni dei santi, ma più ancora produce abbondanza di ringraziamenti a Dio;

For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also abounds in much thanksgiving unto God;

13 p erché la prova pratica fornita da questa sovvenzione li porta a glorificare Dio per l’ubbidienza con cui professate il vangelo di Cristo e per la generosità della vostra comunione con loro e con tutti.

that by the experience of this ministration, they glorify God for the obedience of your consent unto the gospel of the Christ and in your liberal distribution unto them and unto everyone,

14 E ssi pregano per voi, perché vi amano a causa della grazia sovrabbondante che Dio vi ha concessa.

and in their prayer for you, for they love you because of the eminent grace of God in you.

15 R ingraziato sia Dio per il suo dono ineffabile!
