1 S o all Israel was enrolled by genealogies; and they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. And Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their unfaithfulness to God.
¶ So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies, and behold, they were written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, who were carried away to Babylon for their rebellion.
2 N ow the first to dwell again in their possessions in the cities of Israel were the priests, Levites, and the Nethinim.
Now the first inhabitants that dwelt in their possessions in their cities were thus of Israel, as of the priests, Levites, and the Nethinims.
3 I n Jerusalem dwelt some of the people of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh:
And in Jerusalem dwelt of the sons of Judah and of the sons of Benjamin and of the sons of Ephraim and Manasseh:
4 U thai son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the sons of Pharez son of Judah.

5 O f the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.

6 O f the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their kinsmen, 690.
And of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their brethren, six hundred and ninety.
7 O f the Benjamites: Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah;
And of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu, the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hasenuah;
8 I bneiah son of Jeroham; Elah son of Uzzi, the son of Michri; and Meshullam son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah;
and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham; and Elah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri; and Meshullam, the son of Shephathiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah;
9 A nd their kinsmen, according to their generations, 956. All these were heads of fathers’ houses according to their fathers’ houses.
and their brethren, according to their generations, nine hundred and fifty-six. All these men were heads of the fathers in the houses of their fathers.
10 O f the priests: Jedaiah; Jehoiarib; Jachin;

11 A zariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the chief officer of God’s house;
and Azariah, the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, prince of the house of God;
12 A nd Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah; Massai son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer;
and Adaiah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchijah; and Maasiai, the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer;
13 A nd their kinsmen, heads of their fathers’ houses, 1, 760—very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.
and their brethren, heads of the houses of their fathers, one thousand seven hundred and sixty, mighty men of valour for the work of the ministry of the house of God.
14 O f the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;

15 A nd Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph;

16 O badiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites.

17 T he gatekeepers were: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their kinsmen, Shallum being the chief
And the porters: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brethren; Shallum was the head.
18 W ho hitherto was assigned to the king’s east side gate. They were the gatekeepers of the camp of the Levites.
And until now in the companies of the sons of Levi these have been the porters in the king’s gate towards the east.
19 S hallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his kinsmen of his father’s house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the Tent, as their fathers had been in charge of the camp of the Lord, keepers of the entrance.
And Shallum, the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren of the house of his father, the Korahites, were over the work of the ministry, keepers of the gates of the tabernacle; and their fathers, being over the camp of the LORD, were keepers of the entry.
20 P hinehas son of Eleazar was ruler over them in times past, and the Lord was with him.
And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, was the captain over them in time past, and the LORD was with him.
21 Z echariah son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
And Zechariah, the son of Meshelemiah, was porter of the door of the tabernacle of the testimony.
22 A ll these chosen to be keepers at the thresholds were 212. These were enrolled by their genealogies in their villages, these men David and Samuel the seer had established to their office of trust.
All these which were chosen to be porters in the gates were two hundred and twelve when they were reckoned by their genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel, the seer, ordained in their set office.
23 S o they and their sons had oversight of the gates of the Lord’s house, that is, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
So they and their sons had the oversight of the gates of the house of the LORD, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
24 T he gatekeepers were stationed on the four sides —on the east, west, north, and south.
Towards the four winds were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and Negev.
25 T heir brethren in their villages were to come in every seven days to be with them.
And their brethren, who were in their villages, came every seven days in their set times with them.
26 B ut these Levites, the four chief gatekeepers, were in charge of the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.
For these Levites, the four chief porters, were in their set office and were over the chambers and treasures of the house of God.
27 T hey lodged round about God’s house, for the duty was theirs, as well as the opening of the house every morning.
And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof every morning pertained to them.
28 S ome of them had charge of the serving utensils, being required to count them when they brought them in or took them out.
And certain of them had the charge of the vessels of ministry, that they should account for them when they were brought in and out.
29 S ome of them also were appointed over the furniture and over all the sacred utensils, as well as over the fine flour, wine, oil, frankincense, and spices.
Some of them also were appointed to oversee the vessels and all the instruments of the sanctuary and the fine flour and the wine and the oil and the frankincense and the spices.
30 O ther sons of the priests prepared the ointment of spices.
And some of the sons of the priests made the ointment of the spices.
31 M attithiah, one of the Levites, the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was responsible for the things baked in pans.
And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum, the Korahite, had the set office over the things that were made in the pans.
32 O f their Kohathite kinsmen, some were to prepare the showbread every Sabbath.
And other of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the showbread, to order it every sabbath.
33 T hese are the singers, heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites, dwelling in the temple chambers, free from other service because they were on duty day and night.
And of these there were singers, princes of the fathers of the Levites, who remained in the chambers free from other work; for they were employed in that work day and night.
34 T hese were heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, according to their generations, chief men, who lived in Jerusalem.
These heads of the fathers of the Levites were heads throughout their generations; these dwelt at Jerusalem.
35 I n Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife’s name was Maacah,
¶ And in Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jehiel, whose wife’s name was Maachah;
36 H is firstborn son Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
and his firstborn son Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 G edor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth.

38 M ikloth was the father of Shimeam. They also dwelt beside their brethren, opposite their kinsmen in Jerusalem.
And Mikloth begat Shimeam. And they also dwelt with their brethren at Jerusalem, next to their brethren.
39 N er was the father of Kish, Kish of Saul, Saul of Jonathan, Malchi-shua, Abinadab, and Esh-baal.
And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
40 T he son of Jonathan was Merib-baal (Mephibosheth); Merib-baal was the father of Micah.
And the son of Jonathan was Meribbaal, and Meribbaal begat Micah.
41 T he sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.
And the sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.
42 A haz was the father of Jarah, and Jarah of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; Zimri was the father of Moza,
And Ahaz begat Jarah, and Jarah begat Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza,
43 M oza of Binea; Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.

44 A zel had six sons: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
And Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Azel.
