1 S o they brought the ark of God and set it in the midst of the tent which David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

2 A nd when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.

3 A nd he distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.

And he dealt to all Israel, both men and women, to each one a loaf of bread and a good piece of flesh and a flagon of wine.

4 H e appointed Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord and to celebrate, thanking and praising the Lord, the God of Israel:

5 A saph was the chief, next to him Zechariah, Jeiel (Jaaziel), Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, and Benaiah, Obed-edom and Jeiel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals;

Asaph, the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps, but Asaph resounded with cymbals;

6 B enaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

7 T hen on that day David first entrusted to Asaph and his brethren the singing of thanks to the Lord:

¶ Then, on that day, David began to thank the LORD by the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

8 O give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known His doings among the peoples!

Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

9 S ing to Him, sing praises to Him; meditate on and talk of all His wondrous works and devoutly praise them!

Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, speak of all his wondrous works.

10 G lory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!

Glory in his holy name; let the heart of those that seek the LORD rejoice.

11 S eek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!

Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

12 r emember the marvelous deeds which He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He uttered,

Remember his marvellous works that he has done, his wonders and the judgments of his mouth;

13 O you offspring of of Israel His servants, you children of Jacob, His chosen ones!

O, ye seed of Israel, his slave, ye sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

14 H e is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

15 B e mindful of His covenant forever, the promise which He commanded and established to a thousand generations,

Be mindful always of his covenant, the word which he commanded in a thousand generations,

16 T he covenant which He made with Abraham, and His sworn promise to Isaac.

the covenant which he cut with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

17 H e confirmed it as a statute to Jacob, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

which he confirmed unto Jacob by statute, and to Israel in everlasting covenant,

18 S aying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, the measured portion of your possession and inheritance.

saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the cord of your inheritance,

19 W hen they were but few, even a very few, and only temporary residents and strangers in it,

when ye were but few in number, and strangers in it.

20 W hen they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,

And they went from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another people.

21 H e allowed no man to do them wrong; yes, He reproved kings for their sakes,

He would allow no one to oppress them; he reproved kings for their sakes,

22 S aying, Touch not My anointed, and do My prophets no harm.

23 S ing to the Lord, all the earth; show forth from day to day His salvation.

Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; show forth from day to day his saving health.

24 D eclare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all peoples.

Declare his glory among the Gentiles; his marvellous works among all peoples.

25 F or great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all so-called gods.

For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he also is to be feared above all gods.

26 F or all the gods of the people are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.

For all the gods of the people are worthless, but the LORD made the heavens.

27 H onor and majesty are in His presence; strength and joy are in His sanctuary.

Glory and beauty are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.

28 A scribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength,

Give unto the LORD, ye families of the peoples, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

29 A scribe to the Lord the glory due His name. Bring an offering and come before Him; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness and in holy array.

Give unto the LORD the glory of his name; bring a present and come before him; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

30 T remble and reverently fear before Him, all the earth’s peoples; the world also shall be established, so it cannot be moved.

Fear before him, all the earth; the world also is being made stable, that it be not moved.

31 L et the heavens be glad and let the earth rejoice; and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigns!

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let men say among the Gentiles, The LORD reigns.

32 L et the sea roar, and all the things that fill it; let the fields rejoice, and all that is in them.

Let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof; let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.

33 T hen shall the trees of the wood sing out for joy before the Lord, for He comes to judge and govern the earth.

Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he comes to judge the earth.

34 O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good; for his mercy is eternal.

35 A nd say, Save us, O God of our salvation; gather us together and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy name and glory in Your praise.

And say, Save us, O God our saving health, and gather us together and deliver us from the Gentiles, that we may give thanks to thy holy name and glory in thy praise.

36 B lessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, forever and ever! And all the people said Amen! and praised the Lord.

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from eternity unto eternity. And all the people said, Amen and praised the LORD.

37 S o David left Asaph and his brethren before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister before the ark continually, as each day’s work required,

¶ So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren to minister before the ark continually, each thing in its day;

38 A nd Obed-edom with sixty-eight kinsmen. Also Obed-edom son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, were to be gatekeepers.

and Obededom with their brethren, sixty-eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters.

39 A nd David left Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon

And Zadok, the priest, and his brethren, the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

40 T o offer burnt offerings to the Lord upon the altar of burnt offering continually, morning and evening, and to do all that is written in the Law of the Lord which He commanded Israel.

to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;

41 W ith them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen and expressly named to give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.

and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest that were chosen expressly by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy is eternal.

42 W ith them were Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those who should sound aloud, and instruments for accompanying the songs of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were to be at the gate.

And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals to sound, and with other musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

43 T hen all the people departed, each man to his house, and David returned home to bless his household.

And all the people departed each one to his house; and David returned to bless his house.
