1 G ive ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You Who lead Joseph like a flock; You Who sit enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth
¶ Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubim, shine forth.
2 B efore Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh! Stir up Your might, and come to save us!
In the presence of Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength and come and save us.
3 R estore us again, O God; and cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!
Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
4 O Lord God of hosts, how long will You be angry with Your people’s prayers?
O LORD God of the hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
5 Y ou have fed them with the bread of tears, and You have given them tears to drink in large measure.
Thou dost feed them with the bread of tears and give them tears to drink in great measure.
6 Y ou make us a strife and scorn to our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves.
Thou dost make us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.
7 R estore us again, O God of hosts; and cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!
Turn us again, O God of the hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
8 Y ou brought a vine out of Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.
¶ Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt; thou hast cast out the Gentiles and planted it.
9 Y ou prepared room before it, and it took deep root and it filled the land.
Thou didst prepare room before it and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the earth.
10 T he mountains were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs of it were like the great cedars.
The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and its boughs were like the cedars of God.
11 s ent out its boughs to the Sea and its branches to the River.
She sent out her boughs unto the sea and her branches unto the river.
12 W hy have You broken down its hedges and walls so that all who pass by pluck from its fruit?
Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all those who pass by the way pluck her?
13 T he boar out of the wood wastes it and the wild beast of the field feeds on it.
The boar out of the wood wastes it, and the wild beast of the field devours it.
14 T urn again, we beseech You, O God of hosts! Look down from heaven and see, visit, and have regard for this vine!
Return, we beseech thee, O God of the hosts: look down from heaven and behold and visit this vine
15 t he stock which Your right hand planted, and the branch (the son) that You have reared and made strong for Yourself.
and the vineyard which thy right hand has planted and the branch that thou didst make strong for thyself.
16 T hey have burned it with fire, it is cut down; may they perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
It is burned with fire; it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
17 L et Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You have made strong for Yourself.
Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou didst make strong for thyself,
18 T hen will we not depart from You; revive us (give us life) and we will call upon Your name.
so we will not go back from thee. Thou shalt quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 R estore us, O Lord God of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!
Turn us again, O LORD God of the hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
