1 O h, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!

¶ Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubim, shine forth.

2 B efore Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us!

In the presence of Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength and come and save us.

3 O God, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.

Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

4 O Lord God of hosts, How long will You be angry with the prayer of Your people?

O LORD God of the hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

5 Y ou have fed them with the bread of tears, And You have made them to drink tears in large measure.

Thou dost feed them with the bread of tears and give them tears to drink in great measure.

6 Y ou make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.

Thou dost make us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.

7 O God of hosts, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.

Turn us again, O God of the hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

8 Y ou removed a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.

¶ Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt; thou hast cast out the Gentiles and planted it.

9 Y ou cleared the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land.

Thou didst prepare room before it and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the earth.

10 T he mountains were covered with its shadow, And the cedars of God with its boughs.

The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and its boughs were like the cedars of God.

11 I t was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the River.

She sent out her boughs unto the sea and her branches unto the river.

12 W hy have You broken down its hedges, So that all who pass that way pick its fruit ?

Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all those who pass by the way pluck her?

13 A boar from the forest eats it away And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.

The boar out of the wood wastes it, and the wild beast of the field devours it.

14 O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,

Return, we beseech thee, O God of the hosts: look down from heaven and behold and visit this vine

15 E ven the shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself.

and the vineyard which thy right hand has planted and the branch that thou didst make strong for thyself.

16 I t is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.

It is burned with fire; it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

17 L et Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.

Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou didst make strong for thyself,

18 T hen we shall not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.

so we will not go back from thee. Thou shalt quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 O Lord God of hosts, restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved.

Turn us again, O LORD God of the hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
