1 M oreover, the word of the Lord came to me saying,

¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2 Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it

Son of man, set thy face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against him,

3 a nd say to it, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir, And I will stretch out My hand against you And make you a desolation and a waste.

and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, O Mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and I will make thee waste and solitary.

4 I will lay waste your cities And you will become a desolation. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

5 B ecause you have had everlasting enmity and have delivered the sons of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of the punishment of the end,

Because thou hast had perpetual enmities and hast scattered the sons of Israel to the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the extremely evil time:

6 t herefore as I live,” declares the Lord God, “I will give you over to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you; since you have not hated bloodshed, therefore bloodshed will pursue you.

therefore, as I live, said the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: and if thou dost not hate blood, blood shall pursue thee.

7 I will make Mount Seir a waste and a desolation and I will cut off from it the one who passes through and returns.

And I will make Mount Seir waste and solitary and cut off from him, he that passes out and him that returns.

8 I will fill its mountains with its slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those slain by the sword will fall.

And I will fill his mountains with his dead; and in thy hills and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, they shall fall that are slain with the sword.

9 I will make you an everlasting desolation and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall never be restored; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

10 Because you have said, ‘These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,’ although the Lord was there,

¶ Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess them, whereas the LORD was there.

11 t herefore as I live,” declares the Lord God, “I will deal with you according to your anger and according to your envy which you showed because of your hatred against them; so I will make Myself known among them when I judge you.

Therefore, as I live, said the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy enmity against them; and I shall be known in them when I judge thee.

12 T hen you will know that I, the Lord, have heard all your revilings which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel saying, ‘They are laid desolate; they are given to us for food.’

And thou shalt know that I, the LORD, have heard all thy injuries which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate; they are given us to devour.

13 A nd you have spoken arrogantly against Me and have multiplied your words against Me; I have heard it.”

Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me and have multiplied your words against me; I have heard them.

14 T hus says the Lord God, “As all the earth rejoices, I will make you a desolation.

Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Thus shall the whole earth rejoice when I shall make thee desolate.

15 A s you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be a desolation, O Mount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”’

As thou didst rejoice upon the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee; thou shalt be desolate, O Mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
