1 G reat is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, His holy mountain.

¶ Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

2 B eautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion in the far north, The city of the great King.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

3 G od, in her palaces, Has made Himself known as a stronghold.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

4 F or, lo, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together.

For, behold, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

5 T hey saw it, then they were amazed; They were terrified, they fled in alarm.

They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled and hasted away.

6 P anic seized them there, Anguish, as of a woman in childbirth.

Fear took hold upon them there and pain as of a woman in travail.

7 W ith the east wind You break the ships of Tarshish.

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

8 A s we have heard, so have we seen In the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish her forever. Selah.

¶ As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of the hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it for ever. Selah.

9 W e have thought on Your lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of Your temple.

We have conceived according to thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10 A s is Your name, O God, So is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness.

According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth; thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 L et Mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice Because of Your judgments.

Let Mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad because of thy judgments.

12 W alk about Zion and go around her; Count her towers;

Walk about Zion and go round about her; tell the towers thereof.

13 C onsider her ramparts; Go through her palaces, That you may tell it to the next generation.

Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces that ye may tell it to the generation following.

14 F or such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will guide us until death.

For this God is our God eternally and for ever; he will be our guide even unto death.
