Psalm 5 ~ Psalm 5

1 G ive ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my groaning.

¶ Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my meditation.

2 H eed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray.

Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God, for unto thee will I pray.

3 I n the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; early will I present myself unto thee and wait.

4 F or You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You.

For thou art not a God that loves wickedness; neither shall one who is evil dwell with thee.

5 T he boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity.

The foolish (those who are governed by carnal thoughts or desires) shall not stand in thy sight; thou dost hate all workers of iniquity.

6 Y ou destroy those who speak falsehood; The Lord abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.

Thou shalt destroy those that speak lies: the LORD will abominate the bloody and deceitful man.

7 B ut as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You.

¶ But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear I will worship toward thy holy temple.

8 O Lord, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes; Make Your way straight before me.

Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

9 T here is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue.

For there is no uprightness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

10 H old them guilty, O God; By their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions thrust them out, For they are rebellious against You.

Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out for the multitude of their rebellions; for they have rebelled against thee.

11 B ut let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You.

And all those that put their trust in thee shall rejoice: they shall ever be in jubilee, for thou shalt cover them; and all that love thy name shall be joyful in thee.

12 F or it is You who blesses the righteous man, O Lord, You surround him with favor as with a shield.

For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
