1 T he word of the Lord also came to me, saying,
¶ The word of the LORD also came unto me, saying,
2 S on of man, you dwell in the midst of the house of the rebellious, who have eyes to see and see not, who have ears to hear and hear not, for they are a rebellious house.
Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see and do not see; they have ears to hear and do not hear; for they are a rebellious house.
3 T herefore, son of man, prepare your belongings for removing and going into exile, and move out by day in their sight; and you shall remove from your place to another place in their sight. It may be they will consider and perceive that they are a rebellious house.
Therefore, thou son of man, prepare thee stuff for moving and move by day in their sight and thou shalt move from thy place to another place in their sight: they will not see for they are a rebellious house.
4 A nd you shall bring forth your baggage by day in their sight, as baggage for removing into exile; and you shall go forth yourself at evening in their sight, as those who go forth into exile.
And thou shalt bring forth thy stuff by day in their sight, as stuff for moving; and thou shalt go forth in the evening in their sight, as those that go forth to not return.
5 D ig through the wall in their sight and carry the stuff out through the hole.
Dig through the wall in their sight, and leave thereby.
6 I n their sight you shall bear your baggage upon your shoulder and carry it forth in the dark; you shall cover your face so that you cannot see the land, for I have set you as a sign for the house of Israel.
In their sight thou shalt bear it upon thy shoulders and carry it forth in the night; thou shalt cover thy face, and thou shalt not look at the land; for I have set thee for a sign unto the house of Israel.
7 A nd I did as I was commanded. I brought forth my baggage by day, as baggage for exile, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my own hands. I brought out my baggage in the dark, carrying it upon my shoulder in their sight.
And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my stuff by day, as stuff for a journey, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my hand; I brought it forth in the night, and I bore it upon my shoulder in their sight.
8 A nd in the morning came the word of the Lord to me, saying,
And in the morning the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 S on of man, has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, asked you what you are doing?
Son of man, has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said unto thee, What doest thou?
10 S ay to them, Thus says the Lord God: This oracle or revelation concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel who are in it.
Say thou unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel that are among them.
11 S ay, I am your sign; as I have done, so shall it be done to them; into banishment, into captivity, they shall go.
Say, I am your sign: like as I have done, so shall it be done unto them: when they go to another country they shall go in captivity.
12 A nd the prince who is in their midst shall lift up his luggage to his shoulder in the dark; then shall he go forth. They shall dig through the wall to carry out through the hole in it. He shall cover his face so that he will not see with his eyes the land.
And the prince that is among them shall be born upon their shoulders in the night, and they shall go forth; they shall dig through the wall to carry him out thereby; he shall cover his face that he not see the land with his eyes.
13 M y net also will I spread over him, and he shall be taken in My snare, and I will bring him to Babylonia, to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there.
But I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will cause him to be taken to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet he shall not see it though he shall die there.
14 A nd I will scatter toward every wind all who are about him to help him, even all his bands; and I will draw out the sword after them.
And I will scatter toward every wind all that were about him to help him and all his companies; and I will draw out the sword after them.
15 A nd they shall know (recognize, understand, and realize) that I am the Lord, when I shall scatter them among the nations and disperse them in the countries.
And they shall know that I am the LORD when I shall scatter them among the Gentiles and disperse them in the countries.
16 B ut I will leave a few survivors who will escape the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, that they may declare and confess all their abominations among the nations to which they go, and they shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.
But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the Gentiles where they go; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
17 M oreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
¶ And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
18 S on of man, eat your bread with shaking, and drink water with trembling and with fearfulness;
Son of man, eat thy bread with quaking and drink thy water with trembling and with anxiety
19 A nd say to the people of the land, Thus says the Lord God concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with fearfulness and drink water with dismay, for their land will be stripped and plundered of all its fullness, because of the violence of all those who dwell in it.
and say unto the people of the land, Thus hath the Lord GOD said regarding the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the land of Israel. They shall eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with terror that her land may be desolate from all that is in it because of the violence of all those that dwell therein.
20 A nd the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be deserted and become a desolation; and you shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.
And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be desolate; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
21 A nd the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
¶ And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
22 S on of man, what is this proverb that you have in the land of Israel, saying, The days drag on and every vision comes to nothing and is not fulfilled?
Son of man, what is that saying that ye have in the land of Israel that saith, The days shall be prolonged, and every vision shall fail?
23 T ell them therefore, Thus says the Lord God: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall use it no more as a proverb in Israel. But say to them, The days are at hand and the fulfillment of every vision.
Tell them therefore, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: I will make this saying to cease, and they shall not repeat this as a saying in Israel but say unto them, Those days have drawn nigh, and the fulfillment of every vision.
24 F or there shall be no more any false, empty, and fruitless vision or flattering divination in the house of Israel.
For there shall no longer be any vain vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel.
25 F or I am the Lord; I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall be performed (come to pass); it shall be no more delayed or prolonged, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and will perform it, says the Lord God.
Because I, the LORD, will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall no longer be prolonged, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and will perform it, said the Lord GOD.
26 A gain the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
27 S on of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of the times that are far off.
Son of man, behold, those of the house of Israel say, The vision that he sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of the times that are far off.
28 T herefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: There shall none of My words be deferred any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be performed, says the Lord God.
Therefore say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: All of my words shall not be prolonged any longer, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, said the Lord GOD.
