1 A nd you shall make an altar to burn incense upon; of acacia wood you shall make it.
¶ In the same manner thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon; of cedar wood shalt thou make it.
2 A cubit shall be its length and a cubit its breadth; its top shall be square and it shall be two cubits high. Its horns shall be of one piece with it.
Its length shall be a cubit and its width a cubit; it shall be square and its height two cubits; its horns shall be of the same.
3 A nd you shall overlay it with pure gold, its top and its sides round about and its horns, and you shall make a crown (a rim or molding) of gold around it.
And thou shalt cover it with pure gold, its top and its sides round about, and its horns; and thou shalt make unto it a moulding of gold round about.
4 Y ou shall make two golden rings under the rim of it, on the two ribs on the two opposite sides of it; and they shall be holders for the poles with which to carry it.
And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under its moulding by its two corners on both sides for places for the staves to bear it with.
5 A nd you shall make the poles of acacia wood, overlaid with gold.
And thou shalt make the staves of cedar wood and cover them with gold.
6 Y ou shall put the altar in front and outside of the veil that screens the ark of the Testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the Testimony (the Law, the tables of stone), where I will meet with you.
And thou shalt put it before the veil that is by the ark of the testimony, before the seat of reconciliation that is over the testimony, where I will testify unto thee of myself.
7 A nd Aaron shall burn on it incense of sweet spices; every morning when he trims and fills the lamps he shall burn it.
And Aaron shall burn sweet incense thereon every morning; when he dresses the lamps, he shall burn it.
8 A nd when Aaron lights the lamps in the evening, he shall burn it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations.
And when Aaron lights the lamps at evening, he shall burn incense upon it continually before the LORD throughout your ages.
9 Y ou shall offer no unholy incense on the altar nor burnt sacrifice nor cereal offering; and you shall pour no libation (drink offering) on it.
Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon nor burnt sacrifice nor present; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.
10 A aron shall make atonement upon the horns of it once a year; with the blood of the sin offering of atonement once in the year shall he make atonement upon and for it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.
And Aaron shall make reconciliation upon the horns of it once a year with the blood of the reconciliation for sin; once a year shall he make reconciliation upon it throughout your ages; it shall be most holy unto the LORD.
11 A nd the Lord said to Moses,
¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
12 W hen you take the census of the Israelites, every man shall give a ransom for himself to the Lord when you number them, that no plague may fall upon them when you number them.
When thou takest the number of the sons of Israel after the sum of them, each one shall give a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou dost number them, that there be no mortality in them because of numbering them.
13 T his is what everyone shall give as he joins those already numbered: a half shekel, in terms of the sanctuary shekel, a shekel being twenty gerahs; a half shekel as an offering to the Lord.
This shall be given by every one that passes among those that are numbered: half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary (a shekel is twenty gerahs); a half shekel shall be the offering to the LORD.
14 E veryone from twenty years old and upward, as he joins those already numbered, shall give this offering to the Lord.
Anyone that passes among those that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give the offering unto the LORD.
15 T he rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel when give this offering to the Lord to make atonement for yourselves.
The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give the offering unto the LORD to make reconciliation for your souls.
16 A nd you shall take the atonement money of the Israelites and use it for the service of the Tent of Meeting, that it may bring the Israelites to remembrance before the Lord, to make atonement for yourselves.
And thou shalt take the reconciliation money of the sons of Israel and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the testimony, and it shall be a memorial unto the sons of Israel before the LORD to reconcile your souls.
17 A nd the Lord said to Moses,
¶ And the LORD spoke further unto Moses, saying,
18 Y ou shall also make a laver or large basin of bronze, and its base of bronze, for washing; and you shall put it between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it;
Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and its base also of brass, to wash with; and thou shalt place it between the tabernacle of the testimony and the altar, and thou shalt put water in it.
19 T here Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet.
And from it Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet.
20 W hen they go into the Tent of Meeting, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the Lord,
When they go into the tabernacle of the testimony, they shall wash with water that they not die, or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn the offering unto the LORD that must be consumed by fire,
21 S o they shall wash their hands and their feet, lest they die; it shall be a perpetual statute for and his descendants throughout their generations.
they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they not die. And he and his seed shall have it as a perpetual statute throughout their generations.
22 M oreover, the Lord said to Moses,
¶ The LORD spoke further unto Moses, saying,
23 T ake the best spices: of liquid myrrh 500 shekels, of sweet-scented cinnamon half as much, 250 shekels, of fragrant calamus 250 shekels,
Thou must take unto thee of the principal spices: of excellent myrrh five hundred shekels and of aromatic cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of aromatic calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,
24 A nd of cassia 500 shekels, in terms of the sanctuary shekel, and of olive oil a hin.
and of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive one hin;
25 A nd you shall make of these a holy anointing oil, a perfume compounded after the art of the perfumer; it shall be a sacred anointing oil.
and thou shalt make of it the oil of the holy anointing, a superior ointment, after the art of the apothecary, which shall be the oil of the holy anointing.
26 A nd you shall anoint the Tent of Meeting with it, and the ark of the Testimony,
And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the testimony with it and the ark of the testimony
27 A nd the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense,
and the table and all its vessels and the lampstand and its vessels and the altar of incense
28 A nd the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base.
and the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels and the laver and its base.
29 Y ou shall sanctify (separate) them, that they may be most holy; whoever and whatever touches them must be holy (set apart to God).
Thus thou shalt consecrate them, and they shall be most holy; whatever touches them shall be sanctified.
30 A nd you shall anoint Aaron and his sons and sanctify (separate) them, that they may minister to Me as priests.
And thou shalt also anoint Aaron and his sons and sanctify them that they may be my priests.
31 A nd say to the Israelites, This is a holy anointing oil, sacred to Me alone throughout your generations.
And thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, This shall be my oil of the holy anointing throughout your ages.
32 I t shall not be poured upon a layman’s body, nor shall you make any other like it in composition; it is holy, and you shall hold it sacred.
It shall not be poured upon man’s flesh; neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it; it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.
33 W hoever compounds any like it or puts any of it upon an outsider shall be cut off from his people.
Whoever compounds any like it and puts any of it upon a stranger shall be cut off from his people.
34 T hen the Lord said to Moses, Take sweet spices—stacte, onycha, and galbanum, sweet spices with pure frankincense, an equal amount of each—
And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee aromas, stacte and onycha and aromatic galbanum and pure frankincense, of each in equal weight.
35 A nd make of them incense, a perfume after the perfumer’s art, seasoned with salt and mixed, pure and sacred.
And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy;
36 Y ou shall beat some of it very small and put some of it before the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, where I will meet with you; it shall be to you most holy.
and thou shalt beat some of it very small and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the testimony, where I will testify unto thee of myself. It shall be most holy unto you.
37 A nd the incense which you shall make according to its composition you shall not make for yourselves; it shall be to you holy to the Lord.
And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves another according to the composition thereof: it shall be holiness unto thee for the LORD.
38 W hoever makes any like it for perfume shall be cut off from his people.
Whoever shall make another like unto that to smell it shall be cut off from his people.
