1 T hese are the ones who came to David at Ziklag, while he yet concealed himself because of Saul son of Kish; they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war.
¶ Now these are those that came to David to Ziklag, while he was yet restrained because of Saul, the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war.
2 T hey were bowmen and could use the right hand or the left to sling stones or shoot arrows from the bow; they were of Saul’s kinsmen of Benjamin.
They were armed with bows and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.
3 T he chief was Ahiezer and then Joash the sons of Shemaah of Gibeah; Jeziel and Pelet the sons of Azmaveth; Beracah, and Jehu of Anathoth,

8 O f the Gadites there went over to David to the stronghold in the wilderness men of might, men trained for war who could handle shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and who were swift as gazelles on the mountains:

14 T hese Gadites were officers of the army. The lesser was equal to and over a hundred, and the greater equal to and over a thousand.
These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host. One of the least was over one hundred men, and the greatest over a thousand.
15 T hese are the men who went over the Jordan in the first month when it had overflowed all its banks, and put to flight all those in the valleys, east and west.

17 D avid went out to meet them and said to them, If you have come peaceably to me to help me, my heart shall be knit to you; but if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, although there is no violence or wrong in my hands, may the God of our fathers look upon and rebuke you.
And David went out to meet them and answered and said unto them, If you are come peaceably unto me to help me, my heart shall be knit unto you; but if you are come to betray me to my enemies, seeing there is no violence in my hands, let the God of our fathers look thereon and rebuke it.
18 T hen the Spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Yours we are, David, and on your side, you son of Jesse! Peace, peace be to you, and peace be to your helpers, for your God helps you. Then David received them and made them officers of his troops.
Then the spirit clothed himself in Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said, For thee, O David, and with thee, thou son of Jesse. Peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thy helpers; for thy God helps thee. Then David received them and put them among the captains of the band.
19 S ome of the men of Manasseh deserted to David when he came with the Philistines for the battle against Saul. But men did not actually fight with them, for the lords of the Philistines, upon advisement, sent him away, saying, He will desert to his master Saul at the risk of our heads.
And some of Manasseh passed over to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle, although they did not help them, for the cardinals of the Philistines, upon counsel, sent him away, saying, He will pass over to his master Saul with our heads.
20 A s David went to Ziklag, there deserted to him of Manasseh: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.
As he went to Ziklag, there passed over to him of Manasseh, Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zilthai, heads of the thousands that were of Manasseh.
21 T hey helped David against the band of raiders, for they were all mighty men of courage, and became commanders in army.
And they helped David with a band; for they were all mighty men of valour and were captains in the host.
22 F or at that time day by day men kept coming to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.
For at that time help came every day to David until it was a great camp, like the camp of God.
23 T hese are the numbers of the armed divisions who came to David at Hebron to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the Lord:
¶ And this is the number of the heads of those that were ready armed for war and came to David in Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.
24 T hose of Judah, who bore shield and spear, were 6, 800 armed for war;

27 J ehoiada was the leader of the Aaronite, and with him were 3, 700,
Likewise Jehoiada, prince of those of the lineage of Aaron, and with him three thousand seven hundred;
28 A nd Zadok, a young man mighty in valor, and twenty-two captains from his own father’s house;
and Zadok, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father’s house twenty-two captains.
29 O f the Benjamites, the kindred of Saul, 3, 000—hitherto the majority of them had kept their allegiance and the charge of the house of Saul;
Of the sons of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, three thousand; for in that time many of them had the charge of the house of Saul.
30 O f the Ephraimites, 20, 800, mighty in valor, famous in their fathers’ houses;
And of the sons of Ephraim twenty thousand eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous throughout the houses of their fathers.
31 O f the half-tribe of Manasseh, 18, 000, who were mentioned by name to come and make David king;
And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were designated by name, to come and make David king.
32 A nd of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do, 200 chiefs; and all their kinsmen were under their command;
And of the sons of Issachar, two hundred chief men, who had understanding of the times and were wise to know what Israel ought to do; and all their brethren followed their word.
33 O f Zebulun, 50, 000 experienced troops, fitted out with all kinds of weapons and instruments of war that could order and set the battle in array, men not of double purpose but stable and trustworthy.
Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all weapons of war, fifty thousand, who could keep rank; they were not of double heart.
34 O f Naphtali, 1, 000 captains, and with them 37, 000 with shield and spear;
And of Naphtali a thousand captains and with them with shield and spear thirty-seven thousand.
35 O f Dan, 28, 600, men who could set the battle in array;
And of those of Dan expert in war twenty-eight thousand six hundred.
36 O f Asher, men able to go forth to battle, fit for active service, 40, 000;
And of Asher, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, forty thousand.
37 O n the other side of the Jordan River, of Reuben and Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, 120, 000 men, armed with all the weapons and instruments of war.
And of the other side of the Jordan, of those of Reuben and those of Gad and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, one hundred and twenty thousand.
38 A ll these, being men of war arrayed in battle order, came with a perfect and sincere heart to Hebron to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one mind to make David king.
