1 A nd there shall come forth a Shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a Branch out of his roots shall grow and bear fruit.

¶ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

2 A nd the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord—

And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD,

3 A nd shall make Him of quick understanding, and His delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the hearing of His ears;

and shall make him of quick olfaction in the fear of the LORD; and he shall not judge according to the sight of his eyes, neither reprove according to the hearing of his ears:

4 B ut with righteousness and justice shall He judge the poor and decide with fairness for the meek, the poor, and the downtrodden of the earth; and He shall smite the earth and the oppressor with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the spirit of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

5 A nd righteousness shall be the girdle of His waist and faithfulness the girdle of His loins.

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faith the girdle of his kidneys.

6 A nd the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatted domestic animal together; and a little child shall lead them.

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a child shall shepherd them.

7 A nd the cow and the bear shall feed side by side, their young shall lie down together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

The cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

8 A nd the sucking child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den.

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

9 T hey shall not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

10 A nd it shall be in that day that the Root of Jesse shall stand as a signal for the peoples; of Him shall the nations inquire and seek knowledge, and His dwelling shall be glory!

¶ And it shall be in that day that the Root of Jesse, who shall be lifted up as a banner, as an example to the Gentiles shall be sought by the Gentiles; and his Kingdom of peace shall be glorious.

11 A nd in that day the Lord shall again lift up His hand a second time to recover (acquire and deliver) the remnant of His people which is left, from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Pathros, from Ethiopia, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the countries bordering on the Sea.

And it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall return to set his hand again to possess the remnant of his people which were left from Assyria and from Egypt and from Pathros and from Cush and from Elam and from Shinar and from Hamath and from the islands of the sea.

12 A nd He will raise up a signal for the nations and will assemble the outcasts of Israel and will gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

And he shall raise up a banner, as an example for the Gentiles and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

13 T he envy and jealousy of Ephraim also shall depart, and they who vex and harass Judah from outside or inside shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex and harass Ephraim.

The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

14 B ut will swoop down upon the shoulders of the Philistines’ toward the west; together they will strip the people on the east. They will lay their hands upon Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites will obey them.

But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil those of the east together; they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the sons of Ammon shall obey them.

15 A nd the Lord will utterly destroy (doom and dry up) the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with His scorching wind He will wave His hand over the river and will smite it into seven channels and will cause men to cross over dry-shod.

And the LORD shall utterly dry up the tongue of the Egyptian sea and shall raise his hand in the strength of his spirit upon the river and shall smite it into seven streams and make men go over dryshod.

16 A nd there shall be a highway from Assyria for the remnant left of His people, as there was for Israel when they came up out of the land of Egypt.

And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left from Assyria like as it was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
