1 A nd said to His disciples, Temptations (snares, traps set to entice to sin) are sure to come, but woe to him by or through whom they come!

¶ Then he said unto the disciples, It is impossible that offenses will not come, but woe unto the one through whom they come!

2 I t would be more profitable for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were hurled into the sea than that he should cause to sin or be a snare to one of these little ones '> lowly in rank or influence].

It would be better for him if a millstone turned by an ass were placed around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.

3 P ay attention and always be on your guard. If your brother sins (misses the mark), solemnly tell him so and reprove him, and if he repents (feels sorry for having sinned), forgive him.

Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother should trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

4 A nd even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and turns to you seven times and says, I repent, you must forgive him (give up resentment and consider the offense as recalled and annulled).

And if he trespasses against thee seven times in a day and seven times in a day turns again to thee, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.

5 T he apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith (that trust and confidence that spring from our belief in God).

And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

6 A nd the Lord answered, If you had faith (trust and confidence in God) even like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, Be pulled up by the roots, and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you.

And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, Pluck thyself up by the root, and plant thyself in the sea, and it would obey you.

7 W ill any man of you who has a servant plowing or tending sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, Come at once and take your place at the table?

But which of you, having a slave plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by when he is come from the field, Go and sit down at the table?

8 W ill he not instead tell him, Get my supper ready and gird yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; then afterward you yourself shall eat and drink?

And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup and gird thyself and serve me until I have eaten and drunken, and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

9 I s he grateful and does he praise the servant because he did what he was ordered to do?

Does he thank that slave because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.

10 E ven so on your part, when you have done everything that was assigned and commanded you, say, We are unworthy servants; we have done what was our duty to do.

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable slaves: we have done that which was our duty to do.

11 A s He went on His way to Jerusalem, it occurred that was passing between Samaria and Galilee.

¶ And it came to pass as he went to Jerusalem that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 A nd as He was going into one village, He was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance.

And as he entered into a certain village, ten men that were lepers met him, who stood afar off

13 A nd they raised up their voices and called, Jesus, Master, take pity and have mercy on us!

and lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 A nd when He saw them, He said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cured and made clean.

When he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass that as they went, they were cleansed.

15 T hen one of them, upon seeing that he was cured, turned back, recognizing and thanking and praising God with a loud voice;

Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God

16 A nd he fell prostrate at Jesus’ feet, thanking Him. And he was a Samaritan.

and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks; and he was a Samaritan.

17 T hen Jesus asked, Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?

And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 W as there no one found to return and to recognize and give thanks and praise to God except this alien?

Were there not found any returning to give glory to God, except this stranger?

19 A nd He said to him, Get up and go on your way. Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your belief in God) has restored you to health.

And he said unto him, Arise, go; thy faith has saved thee.

20 A sked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He replied to them by saying, The kingdom of God does not come with signs to be observed or with visible display,

¶ And when he was asked of the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God does not come with observation;

21 N or will people say, Look! Here! or, See, there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you and among you.

neither shall they say, Behold it here! or, Behold it there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

22 A nd He said to the disciples, The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see.

And he said unto the disciples, The days will come when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

23 A nd they will say to you, Look! there! or, Look! here! But do not go out or follow.

And they shall say to you, Behold it here, or, Behold it there; do not go, nor follow them.

24 F or like the lightning, that flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so will the Son of Man be in His day.

For as the lightning, which shines from the region under heaven, shines in that which is under heaven; so also shall the Son of man be in his day.

25 B ut first He must suffer many things and be disapproved and repudiated and rejected by this age and generation.

But first he must suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.

26 A nd as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the time of the Son of Man.

And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27 a te, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, right up to the day when Noah went into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

28 S o also as it was in the days of Lot. ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;

29 B ut on the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed all.

but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

30 T hat is the way it will be on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

31 O n that day let him who is on the housetop, with his belongings in the house, not come down to carry them away; and likewise let him who is in the field not turn back.

In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away; and he that is in the field, let him likewise not turn back.

32 R emember Lot’s wife!

Remember Lot’s wife.

33 W hoever tries to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve and quicken it.

Whosoever shall seek to save his soul shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall cause it to live.

34 I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.

I tell you in that night there shall be two men in one bed: the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

35 T here will be two women grinding together; one will be taken and the other will be left.

Two women shall be grinding together: the one shall be taken, and the other left.

36 T wo men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left.

Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

37 T hen they asked Him, Where, Lord? He said to them, Wherever the dead body is, there will the vultures or eagles be gathered together.

And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Where the body is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
