1 P aul, an apostle (special messenger) of Christ Jesus by appointment and command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus (the Messiah), our Hope,

2 T o Timothy, my true son in the faith: Grace (spiritual blessing and favor), mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

Тимофею, истинному сыну в вере: благодать, милость, мир от Бога, Отца нашего, и Христа Иисуса, Господа нашего.

3 A s I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia, stay on where you are at Ephesus in order that you may warn and admonish and charge certain individuals not to teach any different doctrine,

Отходя в Македонию, я просил тебя пребыть в Ефесе и увещевать некоторых, чтобы они не учили иному

4 N or to give importance to or occupy themselves with legends (fables, myths) and endless genealogies, which foster and promote useless speculations and questionings rather than acceptance in faith of God’s administration and the divine training that is in faith ( in that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence)—

и не занимались баснями и родословиями бесконечными, которые производят больше споры, нежели Божие назидание в вере.

5 W hereas the object and purpose of our instruction and charge is love, which springs from a pure heart and a good (clear) conscience and sincere (unfeigned) faith.

Цель же увещания есть любовь от чистого сердца и доброй совести и нелицемерной веры,

6 B ut certain individuals have missed the mark on this very matter have wandered away into vain arguments and discussions and purposeless talk.

от чего отступив, некоторые уклонились в пустословие,

7 T hey are ambitious to be doctors of the Law (teachers of the Mosaic ritual), but they have no understanding either of the words and terms they use or of the subjects about which they make dogmatic assertions.

желая быть законоучителями, но не разумея ни того, о чем говорят, ни того, что утверждают.

8 N ow we recognize and know that the Law is good if anyone uses it lawfully,

А мы знаем, что закон добр, если кто законно употребляет его,

9 K nowing and understanding this: that the Law is not enacted for the righteous (the upright and just, who are in right standing with God), but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinful, for the irreverent and profane, for those who strike and beat and murder fathers and strike and beat and murder mothers, for manslayers,

зная, что закон положен не для праведника, но для беззаконных и непокоривых, нечестивых и грешников, развратных и оскверненных, для оскорбителей отца и матери, для человекоубийц,

10 i mpure and immoral persons, those who abuse themselves with men, kidnapers, liars, perjurers—and whatever else is opposed to wholesome teaching and sound doctrine

для блудников, мужеложников, человекохищников, (клеветников, скотоложников,) лжецов, клятвопреступников, и для всего, что противно здравому учению,

11 A s laid down by the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.

по славному благовестию блаженного Бога, которое мне вверено.

12 I give thanks to Him Who has granted me strength and made me able, Christ Jesus our Lord, because He has judged and counted me faithful and trustworthy, appointing me to the ministry.

Благодарю давшего мне силу, Христа Иисуса, Господа нашего, что Он признал меня верным, определив на служение,

13 T hough I formerly blasphemed and persecuted and was shamefully and outrageously and aggressively insulting, nevertheless, I obtained mercy because I had acted out of ignorance in unbelief.

меня, который прежде был хулитель и гонитель и обидчик, но помилован потому, что поступал по неведению, в неверии;

14 A nd the grace (unmerited favor and blessing) of our Lord flowed out superabundantly and beyond measure for me, accompanied by faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

благодать же Господа нашего (Иисуса Христа) открылась обильно с верою и любовью во Христе Иисусе.

15 T he saying is sure and true and worthy of full and universal acceptance, that Christ Jesus (the Messiah) came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost.

Верно и всякого принятия достойно слово, что Христос Иисус пришел в мир спасти грешников, из которых я первый.

16 B ut I obtained mercy for the reason that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might show forth and display all His perfect long-suffering and patience for an example to those who would thereafter believe on Him for eternal life.

Но для того я и помилован, чтобы Иисус Христос во мне первом показал все долготерпение, в пример тем, которые будут веровать в Него к жизни вечной.

17 N ow to the King of eternity, incorruptible and immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever (to the ages of ages). Amen (so be it).

Царю же веков нетленному, невидимому, единому премудрому Богу честь и слава во веки веков. Аминь.

18 T his charge and admonition I commit in trust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with prophetic intimations which I formerly received concerning you, so that inspired and aided by them you may wage the good warfare,

Преподаю тебе, сын Тимофей, сообразно с бывшими о тебе пророчествами, такое завещание, чтобы ты воинствовал согласно с ними, как добрый воин,

19 H olding fast to faith ( that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence) and having a good (clear) conscience. By rejecting and thrusting from them, some individuals have made shipwreck of their faith.

имея веру и добрую совесть, которую некоторые отвергнув, потерпели кораблекрушение в вере;

20 A mong them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered to Satan in order that they may be disciplined not to blaspheme.

таковы Именей и Александр, которых я предал сатане, чтобы они научились не богохульствовать.
