1 I n the days of Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but they could not conquer it.

И было во дни Ахаза, сына Иоафамова, сына Озии, царя Иудейского, Рецин, царь Сирийский, и факей, сын Ремалиин, царь Израильский, пошли против Иерусалима, чтобы завоевать его, но не могли завоевать.

2 A nd the house of David was told, Syria is allied with Ephraim. And the heart and the hearts of his people trembled and shook, as the trees of the forest tremble and shake with the wind.

И было возвещено дому Давидову и сказано: Сирияне расположились в земле Ефремовой; и всколебалось сердце его и сердце народа его, как колеблются от ветра дерева в лесу.

3 T hen said the Lord to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Judah’s King Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, at the end of the aqueduct or canal of the Upper Pool on the highway to the Fuller’s Field;

И сказал Господь Исаии: выйди ты и сын твой Шеар-ясув навстречу Ахазу, к концу водопровода верхнего пруда, на дорогу к полю белильничьему,

4 A nd say to him, Take heed and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted because of these two stumps of smoking firebrands—at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and of the son of Remaliah.

и скажи ему: наблюдай и будь спокоен; не страшись и да не унывает сердце твое от двух концов этих дымящихся головней, от разгоревшегося гнева Рецина и Сириян и сына Ремалиина.

5 B ecause Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have purposed evil against you, saying,

Сирия, Ефрем и сын Ремалиин умышляют против тебя зло, говоря:

6 L et us go up against Judah and harass and terrify it; and let us cleave it asunder, and set a king in the midst of it, namely the son of Tabeel,

пойдем на Иудею и возмутим ее, и овладеем ею и поставим в ней царем сына Тавеилова.

7 T hus says the Lord God: It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

Но Господь Бог так говорит: это не состоится и не сбудется;

8 F or the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken to pieces so that it will no longer be a people.

ибо глава Сирии--Дамаск, и глава Дамаска--Рецин; а чрез шестьдесят пять лет Ефрем перестанет быть народом;

9 A nd the head (the capital) of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe and trust and rely, surely you will not be established nor will you remain.

и глава Ефрема--Самария, и глава Самарии--сын Ремалиин. Если вы не верите, то потому, что вы не удостоверены.

10 M oreover, the Lord spoke again to King Ahaz, saying,

И продолжал Господь говорить к Ахазу, и сказал:

11 A sk for yourself a sign (a token or proof) of the Lord your God; ask it either in the depth below or in the height above.

проси себе знамения у Господа Бога твоего: проси или в глубине, или на высоте.

12 B ut Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.

И сказал Ахаз: не буду просить и не буду искушать Господа.

13 A nd said, Hear then, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary and try the patience of men, but will you weary and try the patience of my God also?

Тогда сказал: слушайте же, дом Давидов! разве мало для вас затруднять людей, что вы хотите затруднять и Бога моего?

14 T herefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Итак Сам Господь даст вам знамение: се, Дева во чреве приимет и родит Сына, и нарекут имя Ему: Еммануил.

15 B utter and curds and wild honey shall he eat when he knows to refuse the evil and choose the good.

Он будет питаться молоком и медом, доколе не будет разуметь отвергать худое и избирать доброе;

16 F or before the child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor and of whom you are in sickening dread shall be forsaken.

ибо прежде нежели этот младенец будет разуметь отвергать худое и избирать доброе, земля та, которой ты страшишься, будет оставлена обоими царями ее.

17 T he Lord shall bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father’s house such days as have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah—even the king of Assyria.

Но наведет Господь на тебя и на народ твой и на дом отца твоего дни, какие не приходили со времени отпадения Ефрема от Иуды, наведет царя Ассирийского.

18 A nd in that day the Lord shall whistle for the fly that is in the whole extent of the canal country of Egypt and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

И будет в тот день: даст знак Господь мухе, которая при устье реки Египетской, и пчеле, которая в земле Ассирийской, --

19 A nd these shall come and shall rest all of them in the desolate and rugged valleys and deep ravines and in the clefts of the rocks, and on all the thornbushes and on all the pastures.

и прилетят и усядутся все они по долинам опустелым и по расселинам скал, и по всем колючим кустарникам, и по всем деревам.

20 I n the same day, the Lord will shave with the razor that is hired from the parts beyond the River —even with the king of Assyria— the head and the hair of the legs, and it shall also consume the beard.

В тот день обреет Господь бритвою, нанятою по ту сторону реки, царем Ассирийским, голову и волоса на ногах, и даже отнимет бороду.

21 A nd in that day, a man will keep alive only a young milk cow and two sheep.

И будет в тот день: кто будет содержать корову и двух овец,

22 A nd because of the abundance of milk that they will give, he will eat butter and curds, for butter and curds and honey shall everyone eat who is left in the land.

по изобилию молока, которое они дадут, будет есть масло; маслом и медом будут питаться все, оставшиеся в этой земле.

23 A nd in that day, in every place where there used to be a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, there will be briers and thorns.

И будет в тот день: на всяком месте, где росла тысяча виноградных лоз на тысячу сребренников, будет терновник и колючий кустарник.

24 W ith arrows and with bows shall a man come there, because all the land will be briers and thorns.

Со стрелами и луками будут ходить туда, ибо вся земля будет терновником и колючим кустарником.

25 A nd as for all the hills that were formerly cultivated with mattock and hoe, you will not go there for fear of briers and thorns; but they will become a place where oxen are let loose to pasture and where sheep tread.

И ни на одну из гор, которые расчищались бороздниками, не пойдешь, боясь терновника и колючего кустарника: туда будут выгонять волов, и мелкий скот будет топтать их.
