1 S arah lived 127 years; this was the length of the life of Sarah.

Жизни Сарриной было сто двадцать семь лет: лета жизни Сарриной;

2 A nd Sarah died in Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron, in the land of Canaan. And Abraham went to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.

и умерла Сарра в Кириаф-Арбе, что Хеврон, в земле Ханаанской. И пришел Авраам рыдать по Сарре и оплакивать ее.

3 A nd Abraham stood up from before his dead and said to the sons of Heth,

И отошел Авраам от умершей своей, и говорил сынам Хетовым, и сказал:

4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you; give me property for a burial place among you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

я у вас пришлец и поселенец; дайте мне в собственность гроба между вами, чтобы мне умершую мою схоронить от глаз моих.

5 A nd the Hittites replied to Abraham,

Сыны Хета отвечали Аврааму и сказали ему:

6 L isten to us, my lord; you are a mighty prince among us. Bury your dead in any tomb or grave of ours that you choose; none of us will withhold from you his tomb or hinder you from burying your dead.

послушай нас, господин наш; ты князь Божий посреди нас; в лучшем из наших погребальных мест похорони умершую твою; никто из нас не откажет тебе в погребальном месте, для погребения умершей твоей.

7 A nd Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, the Hittites.

Авраам встал и поклонился народу земли той, сынам Хетовым;

8 A nd he said to them, If you are willing to grant my dead a burial out of my sight, listen to me and ask Ephron son of Zohar for me,

и говорил им и сказал: если вы согласны, чтобы я похоронил умершую мою, то послушайте меня, попросите за меня Ефрона, сына Цохарова,

9 T hat he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he owns—it is at the end of his field. For the full price let him give it to me here in your presence as a burial place to which I may hold fast among you.

чтобы он отдал мне пещеру Махпелу, которая у него на конце поля его, чтобы за довольную цену отдал ее мне посреди вас, в собственность для погребения.

10 N ow Ephron was present there among the sons of Heth; so, in the hearing of all who went in at the gate of his city, Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham, saying,

Ефрон же сидел посреди сынов Хетовых; и отвечал Ефрон Хеттеянин Аврааму вслух сынов Хета, всех входящих во врата города его, и сказал:

11 N o, my lord, hear me; I give you the field, and the cave that is in it I give you. In the presence of the sons of my people I give it to you. Bury your dead.

нет, господин мой, послушай меня: я даю тебе поле и пещеру, которая на нем, даю тебе, пред очами сынов народа моего дарю тебе ее, похорони умершую твою.

12 T hen Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.

Авраам поклонился пред народом земли той

13 A nd he said to Ephron in the presence of the people of the land, But if you will give it, I beg of you, hear me. I will give you the price of the field; accept it from me, and I will bury my dead there.

и говорил Ефрону вслух народа земли той и сказал: если послушаешь, я даю тебе за поле серебро; возьми у меня, и я похороню там умершую мою.

14 E phron replied to Abraham, saying,

Ефрон отвечал Аврааму и сказал ему:

15 M y lord, listen to me. The land is worth 400 shekels of silver; what is that between you and me? So bury your dead.

господин мой! послушай меня: земля четыреста сиклей серебра; для меня и для тебя что это? похорони умершую твою.

16 S o Abraham listened to what Ephron said and acted upon it. He weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the Hittites: 400 shekels of silver, according to the weights current among the merchants.

Авраам выслушал Ефрона; и отвесил Авраам Ефрону серебра, сколько он объявил вслух сынов Хетовых, четыреста сиклей серебра, какое ходит у купцов.

17 S o the field of Ephron in Machpelah, which was to the east of Mamre —the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field and in all its borders round about—was made over

И стало поле Ефроново, которое при Махпеле, против Мамре, поле и пещера, которая на нем, и все деревья, которые на поле, во всех пределах его вокруг,

18 A s a possession to Abraham in the presence of the Hittites, before all who went in at his city gate.

владением Авраамовым пред очами сынов Хета, всех входящих во врата города его.

19 A fter this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah to the east of Mamre, that is, Hebron, in the land of Canaan.

После сего Авраам похоронил Сарру, жену свою, в пещере поля в Махпеле, против Мамре, что Хеврон, в земле Ханаанской.

20 T he field and the cave in it were conveyed to Abraham for a permanent burial place by the sons of Heth.

Так достались Аврааму от сынов Хетовых поле и пещера, которая на нем, в собственность для погребения.
