1 Я к Господь же довідався, що почули фарисеї, що Ісус учнів більше збирає та христить, як Іван,

When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John

2 х оч Ісус не христив Сам, а учні Його,

(although Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples),

3 В ін покинув Юдею та знову пішов у Галілею.

he left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.

4 І потрібно було Самарію Йому переходити.

And he must needs pass through Samaria.

5 О тож, прибуває Він до самарійського міста, що зветься Сіхар, недалеко від поля, яке Яків був дав своєму синові Йосипові.

So he cometh to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph:

6 Т ам же була Яковова криниця. І Ісус, дорогою зморений, сів отак край криниці. Було коло години десь шостої.

and Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

7 Н адходить ось жінка одна з Самарії набрати води. Ісус каже до неї: Дай напитись Мені!

There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

8 Б о учні Його відійшли були в місто, щоб купити поживи.

For his disciples were gone away into the city to buy food.

9 Т оді каже Йому самарянка: Як же Ти, юдеянин бувши, та просиш напитись від мене, самарянки? Бо юдеї не сходяться із самарянами.

The Samaritan woman therefore saith unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

10 І сус відповів і промовив до неї: Коли б знала ти Божий дар, і Хто Той, Хто говорить тобі: Дай напитись Мені, ти б у Нього просила, і Він тобі дав би живої води.

Jesus answered and said unto unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11 К аже жінка до Нього: І черпака в Тебе, Пане, нема, а криниця глибока, звідки ж маєш Ти воду живу?

The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then hast thou that living water?

12 Ч и Ти більший за нашого отця Якова, що нам дав цю криницю, і він сам із неї пив, і сини його, і худоба його?

Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his sons, and his cattle?

13 І сус відповів і сказав їй: Кожен, хто воду цю п'є, буде прагнути знову.

Jesus answered and said unto her, Every one that drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14 А хто питиме воду, що Я йому дам, прагнути не буде повік, бо вода, що Я йому дам, стане в нім джерелом тієї води, що тече в життя вічне.

but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up unto eternal life.

15 К аже жінка до Нього: Дай мені, Пане, цієї води, щоб я пити не хотіла, і сюди не приходила брати.

The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come all the way hither to draw.

16 Г оворить до неї Ісус: Іди, поклич чоловіка свого та й вертайся сюди.

Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

17 Ж інка відповіла та й сказала: Чоловіка не маю... Відказав їй Ісус: Ти добре сказала: Чоловіка не маю.

The woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou saidst well, I have no husband:

18 Б о п'ятьох чоловіків ти мала, а той, кого маєш тепер, не муж він тобі. Це ти правду сказала.

for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: this hast thou said truly.

19 К аже жінка до Нього: Бачу, Пане, що Пророк Ти.

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

20 О тці наші вклонялися Богу на цій ось горі, а ви твердите, що в Єрусалимі те місце, де потрібно вклонятись.

Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

21 І сус промовляє до неї: Повір, жінко, Мені, що надходить година, коли ні на горі цій, ані в Єрусалимі вклонятись Отцеві не будете ви.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father.

22 В и вклоняєтесь тому, чого ви не знаєте, ми вклоняємось тому, що знаємо, бо спасіння від юдеїв.

Ye worship that which ye know not: we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.

23 А ле наступає година, і тепер вона є, коли богомільці правдиві вклонятися будуть Отцеві в дусі та в правді, бо Отець Собі прагне таких богомільців.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such doth the Father seek to be his worshippers.

24 Б ог є Дух, і ті, що Йому вклоняються, повинні в дусі та в правді вклонятись.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

25 В ідказує жінка Йому: Я знаю, що прийде Месія, що зветься Христос, як Він прийде, то все розповість нам.

The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh (he that is called Christ): when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.

26 П ромовляє до неї Ісус: Це Я, що розмовляю з тобою...

Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

27 І тоді надійшли Його учні, і дивувались, що з жінкою Він розмовляв. Проте жаден із них не спитав: Чого хочеш? або: Про що з нею говориш?

And upon this came his disciples; and they marvelled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?

28 П окинула жінка тоді водоноса свого, і побігла до міста, та й людям говорить:

So the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and saith to the people,

29 Х одіть но, побачте Того Чоловіка, що сказав мені все, що я вчинила. Чи Він не Христос?

Come, see a man, who told me all things that ever I did: can this be the Christ?

30 І вони повиходили з міста, і до Нього прийшли.

They went out of the city, and were coming to him.

31 Т им часом же учні просили Його та й казали: Учителю, їж!

In the mean while the disciples prayed him, saying, Rabbi, eat.

32 А Він їм відказав: Я маю поживу на їдження, якої не знаєте ви.

But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not.

33 П итали тоді один одного учні: Хіба хто приніс Йому їсти?

The disciples therefore said one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat?

34 І сус каже до них: Пожива Моя чинити волю Того, Хто послав Мене, і справу Його довершити.

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.

35 Ч и не кажете ви: Ще чотири от місяці, і настануть жнива? А Я вам кажу: Підійміть свої очі, та гляньте на ниви, як для жнив уже пополовіли вони!

Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white already unto harvest.

36 А хто жне, той заплату бере, та збирає врожай в життя вічне, щоб хто сіє й хто жне разом раділи.

He that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal; that he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

37 Б о про це поговірка правдива: Хто інший сіє, а хто інший жне.

For herein is the saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

38 Я вас жати послав, де ви не працювали: працювали інші, ви ж до їхньої праці ввійшли.

I sent you to reap that whereon ye have not labored: others have labored, and ye are entered into their labor.

39 З того ж міста багато-хто із самарян в Нього ввірували через слово жінки, що свідчила: Він сказав мені все, що я вчинила була!

And from that city many of the Samaritans believed on him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all things that ever I did.

40 А коли самаряни до Нього прийшли, то благали Його, щоб у них позостався. І Він перебув там два дні.

So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.

41 З начно ж більш вони ввірували через слово Його.

And many more believed because of his word;

42 А до жінки казали вони: Не за слово твоє ми вже віруємо, самі бо ми чули й пізнали, що справді Спаситель Він світу!

and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.

43 Я к минуло ж два дні, Він ізвідти пішов в Галілею.

And after the two days he went forth from thence into Galilee.

44 С ам бо свідчив Ісус, що не має пошани пророк у вітчизні своїй.

For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor in his own country.

45 А коли Він прийшов в Галілею, Його прийняли галілеяни, побачивши все, що вчинив Він в Єрусалимі на святі, бо ходили на свято й вони.

So when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

46 Т оді знову прийшов Ісус у Кану Галілейську, де перемінив був Він воду на вино. І був там один царедворець, що син його хворів у Капернаумі.

He came therefore again unto Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

47 В ін, почувши, що Ісус із Юдеї прибув в Галілею, до Нього прийшов і благав Його, щоб пішов і сина йому вздоровив, бо мав той умерти.

When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.

48 І сус же промовив до нього: Як знамен тих та чуд не побачите, не ввіруєте!

Jesus therefore said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.

49 Ц аредворець говорить до Нього: Піди, Господи, поки не вмерла дитина моя!

The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

50 П ромовляє до нього Ісус: Іди, син твій живе! І повірив той слову, що до нього промовив Ісус, і пішов.

Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. The man believed the word that Jesus spake unto him, and he went his way.

51 А коли ще в дорозі він був, то раби його перестріли його й сповістили, говорячи: Син твій живе.

And as he was now going down, his servants met him, saying, that his son lived.

52 А він їх запитав про годину, о котрій стало легше йому. Вони ж відказали до нього: Учора о сьомій годині гарячка покинула його.

So he inquired of them the hour when he began to amend. They said therefore unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

53 З розумів тоді батько, що була то година, о котрій до нього промовив Ісус: Син твій живе. І ввірував сам і ввесь його дім.

So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

54 Ц е знов друге знамено Ісус учинив, як вернувся до Галілеї з Юдеї.

This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judaea into Galilee.
