1 І покликав Яків усіх синів своїх та й промовив: Зберіться, а я сповіщу вам, що вас спіткає наприкінці днів.

And Jacob called unto his sons, and said: gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the latter days.

2 З ійдіться та слухайте ви, сини Якова, і прислухайтеся до Ізраїля, вашого батька!

Assemble yourselves, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; And hearken unto Israel your father.

3 Р увиме, ти мій перворідний, моя міць і початок ти сили моєї, верх величности й верх ти могутности!

Reuben, thou art my first-born, my might, and the beginning of my strength; The pre-eminence of dignity, and the pre-eminence of power.

4 Т и пінився був, як вода, та не втримаєшся, бо ти увійшов був на ложе свойого отця, і збезчестив його, на постелю мою ти піднявся!

Boiling over as water, thou shalt not have the pre-eminence; Because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; Then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

5 С имеон і Левій то брати, їхня зброя знаряддя насильства.

Simeon and Levi are brethren; Weapons of violence are their swords.

6 Х ай до їхньої змови не входить душа моя, і нехай не прилучиться слава моя до їх зборів, бо вони в своїм гніві людину забили, а в своїй самоволі вола копит позбавили...

O my soul, come not thou into their council; Unto their assembly, my glory, be not thou united; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hocked an ox.

7 П роклятий гнів їхній, бо сильний, та їхня лютість, тяжка бо вона! Поділю їх я в Якові, і їх розпорошу в Ізраїлі!

Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; And their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, And scatter them in Israel.

8 О Юдо, похвалять тебе твої браття! Рука твоя на шиї твоїх ворогів, сини батька твого тобі вклоняться.

Judah, thee shall thy brethren praise: Thy hand shall be on the neck of thine enemies; Thy father's sons shall bow down before thee.

9 Ю да лев молодий! Ти, мій сину, вертаєшся з здобичі: прихиливсь він, поклався як лев й як левиця, зведе хто його?

Judah is a lion's whelp; From the prey, my son, thou art gone up: He stooped down, he couched as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up?

10 Н е відійметься берло від Юди, ані з його стегон законодавець, аж прийде Примиритель, що Йому буде послух народів.

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh come: And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be.

11 В ін прив'язує до винограду свого молодого осла, а до вибраної виноградини сина ослиці своєї. Він одежу свою буде прати в вині, а шату свою в виноградній крові!

Binding his foal unto the vine, And his ass's colt unto the choice vine; He hath washed his garments in wine, And his vesture in the blood of grapes:

12 В ід вина він зробивсь мутноокий, а від молока білозубий.

His eyes shall be red with wine, And his teeth white with milk.

13 З авулон буде мешкать над берегом морським, над берегом тим, де стають кораблі, а границя його до Сидону.

Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; And he shall be for a haven of ships; And his border shall be upon Sidon.

14 І ссахар то костистий осел, що лежить між кошарами.

Issachar is a strong ass, Couching down between the sheepfolds:

15 І побачив він спокій, що добрий, та землю, що стала приємна, і він нахилив свої плечі, щоб нести, і став працювать на податок.

And he saw a resting-place that it was good, And the land that it was pleasant; And he bowed his shoulder to bear, And became a servant under taskwork.

16 Д ан буде судить свій народ, як один із Ізраїльських родів.

Dan shall judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel.

17 Д ан буде вужем при дорозі, змією отруйливою при шляху, що п'яти коневі кусає, і його верхівець позад себе впаде.

Dan shall be a serpent in the way, An adder in the path, That biteth the horse's heels, So that his rider falleth backward.

18 С пасіння від Тебе чекаю, о Господи!

I have waited for thy salvation, O Jehovah.

19 Ґ ад на нього юрба нападатиме, та він нападе на їх п'яти.

Gad, a troop shall press upon him; But he shall press upon their heel.

20 А сир його хліб буде ситий, і він буде давати присмаки царські.

Out of the Asher his bread shall be fat, And he shall yield royal dainties.

21 Н ефталим вільна ланя, він прекрасні слова видає.

Naphtali is a hind let loose: He giveth goodly words.

22 Й осип вітка родюча, вітка родючая над джерелом, її віття по муру спинається.

Joseph is a fruitful bough, A fruitful bough by a fountain; His branches run over the wall.

23 І огірчили його та з луку стріляли, і зненавиділи були стрільці його.

The archers have sorely grieved him, And shot at him, and persecute him:

24 Т а зостався міцним його лук, і стали пружні рамена його рук, від рук Сильного Якового, звідти Пастир, Твердиня синів Ізраїлевих.

But his bow abode in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong, By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, (From thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel),

25 П роси ти від Бога, свойого Отця, і Він допоможе тобі, і проси Всемогутнього і Він благословить тебе благословенням небес, що на висоті, благословенням безодні, що долі лежить, благословеннями перс та утроби.

Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee, And by the Almighty, who shall bless thee, With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that coucheth beneath, Blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.

26 Б лагословення батька твого стали сильніші від благословення батьків моїх, аж до пожаданих висот віковічних. Нехай вони будуть на голову Йосипову, на маківку вибраного з-поміж братів своїх!

The blessings of thy father Have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors Unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

27 В еніямин хижий вовк: вранці їсть він ловитву, а на вечір розділює здобич.

Benjamin is a wolf that raveneth: In the morning she shall devour the prey, And at even he shall divide the spoil.

28 О це всі дванадцять племен Ізраїлевих, і те, що говорив їм батько їх. І він поблагословив їх, кожного за благословенням його поблагословив їх.

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

29 І він наказав їм, і промовив до них: Я прилучаюся до своєї рідні... Поховайте мене при батьках моїх у печері, що на полі Ефрона хіттеянина,

And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

30 у тій печері, що на полі Махпели, що навпроти Мамре в ханаанській землі, яке поле купив був Авраам від Ефрона хіттеянина на володіння для гробу.

in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place.

31 Т ам поховано Авраама й жінку його Сарру, там поховали Ісака та його жінку Ревеку, і там поховав я Лію.

there they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah:

32 П оле й печера, що на нім, то добуток від синів Хета.

the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth.

33 І закінчив Яків заповіта синам своїм, і втягнув свої ноги до ліжка, та й спочив. І він прилучився до своєї рідні.

And when Jacob made an end of charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
