1 J acob llamó a sus hijos, y les dijo: «Júntense, que voy a hacerles saber lo que va a sucederles en los días finales.

And Jacob called unto his sons, and said: gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the latter days.

2 » Júntense y escuchen, hijos de Jacob; escuchen a Israel, su padre.

Assemble yourselves, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; And hearken unto Israel your father.

3 » Tú, Rubén, eres mi primogénito, mi fortaleza, el principio de mi vigor; eres excelente en dignidad y en poder,

Reuben, thou art my first-born, my might, and the beginning of my strength; The pre-eminence of dignity, and the pre-eminence of power.

4 e impetuoso como las aguas. Pero ya no serás el principal, porque usurpaste el lecho de tu padre; ¡te envileciste al usurpar mi estrado!

Boiling over as water, thou shalt not have the pre-eminence; Because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; Then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

5 » Simeón y Leví son chacales; sus espadas son armas de violencia.

Simeon and Levi are brethren; Weapons of violence are their swords.

6 Q ue no entre mi alma en sus reuniones, Ni mi honra se mezcle en su compañía. Porque en su enojo mataron hombres, Y por capricho desjarretaron toros.

O my soul, come not thou into their council; Unto their assembly, my glory, be not thou united; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hocked an ox.

7 M aldito sea su furor, tan tenaz, Y su enojo, tan implacable. Yo los dividiré en Jacob, Y los dispersaré en Israel.

Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; And their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, And scatter them in Israel.

8 » A ti, Judá, te alabarán tus hermanos; Sujetarás a tus enemigos por el cuello, y los hijos de tu padre se inclinarán ante ti.

Judah, thee shall thy brethren praise: Thy hand shall be on the neck of thine enemies; Thy father's sons shall bow down before thee.

9 T ú, Judá, eres un cachorro de león; tú, hijo mío, te apartaste de tu presa. Te encorvas, te echas como león; te asemejas a un león viejo. ¿Quién se atreverá a despertarte?

Judah is a lion's whelp; From the prey, my son, thou art gone up: He stooped down, he couched as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up?

10 N o se te quitará el cetro, Judá; Ni el símbolo de poder de entre tus pies, hasta que venga Siloh y en torno a él se congreguen los pueblos.

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh come: And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be.

11 C on tu pollino atado a una vid, con tu borrico atado a una cepa, lavarás tus vestidos en vino, y en la sangre de las uvas tu manto,

Binding his foal unto the vine, And his ass's colt unto the choice vine; He hath washed his garments in wine, And his vesture in the blood of grapes:

12 c on los ojos rojos por el vino y los dientes blancos por la leche.

His eyes shall be red with wine, And his teeth white with milk.

13 » Zabulón habitará en puertos de mar; Será un puerto para las naves, Y sus límites llegarán hasta Sidón.

Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; And he shall be for a haven of ships; And his border shall be upon Sidon.

14 » Isacar es un asno arisco Que se recuesta entre los campamentos.

Issachar is a strong ass, Couching down between the sheepfolds:

15 C uando probó lo bueno del descanso y las delicias de la tierra, doblegó sus hombros ante la carga Y se entregó al trabajo de esclavos.

And he saw a resting-place that it was good, And the land that it was pleasant; And he bowed his shoulder to bear, And became a servant under taskwork.

16 » Dan juzgará a su pueblo, Como una de las tribus de Israel.

Dan shall judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel.

17 D an será como una serpiente, como una víbora junto al camino, Que muerde los talones del caballo, Y hace caer de bruces al jinete.

Dan shall be a serpent in the way, An adder in the path, That biteth the horse's heels, So that his rider falleth backward.

18 » ¡Tu salvación espero, oh Señor!

I have waited for thy salvation, O Jehovah.

19 » A Gad lo atacarán unos bandoleros, Pero él les devolverá el ataque.

Gad, a troop shall press upon him; But he shall press upon their heel.

20 » El pan de Aser será sustancioso; él brindará deleites dignos de un rey.

Out of the Asher his bread shall be fat, And he shall yield royal dainties.

21 » Neftalí es una cierva desatada, madre de hermosos cervatos.

Naphtali is a hind let loose: He giveth goodly words.

22 » José es una rama con frutos, rama con frutos junto a una fuente, cuyos vástagos cubren todo el muro.

Joseph is a fruitful bough, A fruitful bough by a fountain; His branches run over the wall.

23 L os arqueros lo hostilizan, y en su odio le lanzan flechas;

The archers have sorely grieved him, And shot at him, and persecute him:

24 p ero su arco se queda tenso, Y los brazos se les entumecen ante el poder del Fuerte de Jacob (ante el nombre del Pastor, la Roca de Israel),

But his bow abode in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong, By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, (From thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel),

25 a nte el Dios de tu padre, que te ayudará, ante el Dios Omnipotente, que te bendecirá con bendiciones de los altos cielos, con bendiciones del abismo profundo, con bendiciones de los pechos y del vientre.

Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee, And by the Almighty, who shall bless thee, With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that coucheth beneath, Blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.

26 F ueron más las bendiciones de tu padre que las bendiciones de mis progenitores. Aun lo deseable de los montes eternos bajará sobre la cabeza de José, sobre la frente del príncipe de sus hermanos.

The blessings of thy father Have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors Unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

27 » Benjamín es un lobo rapaz que por la mañana se come la presa y por la tarde reparte los despojos.» Muerte y sepelio de Jacob

Benjamin is a wolf that raveneth: In the morning she shall devour the prey, And at even he shall divide the spoil.

28 É stas son todas las doce tribus de Israel, y esto es lo que su padre les dijo al bendecirlos. A cada tribu le dio su bendición.

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

29 L uego les dio esta orden: «Yo estoy por reunirme con mi pueblo. Sepúltenme con mis padres en la cueva que está en el campo de Efrón el hitita.

And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

30 E s la cueva que está en el campo de Macpela, frente a Mamre, en la tierra de Canaán. Abrahán la compró, junto con el campo mismo de Efrón el hitita, para sepultura hereditaria.

in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place.

31 A llí sepultaron a Abrahán y a Sara, su mujer; allí sepultaron a Isaac y a Rebeca, su mujer; allí también sepulté yo a Lea.

there they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah:

32 E l campo y la cueva que está en él, era de los hititas, pero fue comprada de ellos.»

the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth.

33 Y cuando Jacob terminó de dar instrucciones a sus hijos, encogió sus pies en la cama y expiró. Así fue a reunirse con sus antepasados.

And when Jacob made an end of charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
