1 E l Señor habló con Moisés y Aarón, y les dijo:

And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

2 « Ésta es la ordenanza de la ley que yo, el Señor, he promulgado. Diles a los hijos de Israel que te traigan una vaca alazana, sin ningún defecto y que no haya jamás llevado el yugo.

This is the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke.

3 Q ue se la entreguen al sacerdote Eleazar, y que él la saque del campamento y ordene que sea degollada en su presencia.

And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face:

4 E l sacerdote Eleazar tomará con su dedo un poco de la sangre, y la rociará siete veces hacia la parte delantera del tabernáculo de reunión,

and Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle her blood toward the front of the tent of meeting seven times.

5 y luego ordenará que la vaca sea quemada ante sus ojos, junto con su cuero, su carne, su sangre y su estiércol.

And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:

6 D espués de eso, el sacerdote tomará madera de cedro, hisopo y escarlata, y los echará al fuego en que arde la vaca.

and the priest shall take cedar-wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

7 L uego el sacerdote lavará con agua sus vestidos, y se lavará él mismo, después de lo cual podrá entrar en el campamento, aunque será impuro hasta el anochecer.

Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.

8 D e igual manera, el que haya quemado la vaca lavará con agua sus vestidos, y se lavará él mismo, y será impuro hasta el anochecer.

And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.

9 A lguien que esté limpio recogerá las cenizas de la vaca y las echará en algún lugar limpio fuera del campamento, donde la congregación de los hijos de Israel las guardará para el agua de purificación. Se trata de una expiación.

And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place; and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water for impurity: it is a sin-offering.

10 E ntonces el que haya recogido las cenizas de la vaca lavará sus vestidos, y será impuro hasta el anochecer. Éste será un estatuto perpetuo para los hijos de Israel y para los extranjeros que habiten entre ellos.

And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.

11 » El que toque algún cadáver, quedará impuro siete días.

He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days:

12 A l tercer día se purificará con esa agua, y al séptimo día quedará limpio. Pero si al tercer día no se purifica, entonces no será limpio al séptimo día.

the same shall purify himself therewith on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

13 » Todo el que toque algún cadáver y no se purifique, contamina el tabernáculo del Señor. Será eliminado de Israel, porque el agua de la purificación no fue rociada sobre él. Será impuro, y sobre él quedará su impureza.

Whosoever toucheth a dead person, the body of a man that hath died, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water for impurity was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

14 » Ésta es la ley para cuando alguien muera en la tienda: Cualquiera que entre en la tienda, y todo el que esté en ella, será impuro siete días.

This is the law when a man dieth in a tent: every one that cometh into the tent, and every one that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

15 T oda vasija abierta, cuya tapa no esté bien ajustada, será impura.

And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

16 T odo el que toque a quien haya muerto en batalla y quede tendido en el campo, o algún cadáver, o hueso humano, o sepulcro, será impuro siete días.

And whosoever in the open field toucheth one that is slain with a sword, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

17 P ara el impuro se tomará un poco de la ceniza de la vaca quemada en expiación, se echará sobre ella agua corriente en un recipiente,

And for the unclean they shall take of the ashes of the burning of the sin-offering; and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:

18 y un hombre que esté limpio tomará hisopo, lo mojará en el agua, y rociará el agua sobre la tienda, y sobre los muebles, y sobre quienes allí estén, y sobre quien haya tocado el hueso, o el asesinado, o el muerto, o el sepulcro.

and a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave:

19 Q uien esté limpio rociará el agua sobre el impuro al tercer día y al séptimo día; y ese mismo día séptimo, cuando ya lo haya purificado, se lavará sus vestidos, y se lavará él mismo con agua, y al anochecer será limpio.

and the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.

20 » El que esté impuro, y no se purifique, será eliminado de la congregación por haber contaminado el tabernáculo del Señor. Es impuro porque el agua de la purificación no fue rociada sobre él.

But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of Jehovah: the water for impurity hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

21 » Éste será un estatuto perpetuo para ustedes: El que rocíe el agua de la purificación también deberá lavar sus vestidos. Quien toque el agua de la purificación será impuro hasta el anochecer.

And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them: and he that sprinkleth the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and he that toucheth the water for impurity shall be unclean until even.

22 T odo lo que toque quien esté impuro, también será impuro. Quien toque a quien esté impuro, también será impuro hasta el anochecer.»

And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.
