1 U stedes, vacas de Basán, que están en el monte de Samaria; que oprimen a los pobres y quebrantan a los menesterosos; que ordenan a sus esposos llevarles vino para embriagarse, oigan esta palabra:

Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, that oppress the poor, that crush the needy, that say unto their lords, Bring, and let us drink.

2 E l Señor ha jurado por su santidad: «Vienen días en que ustedes serán arrastradas con ganchos, y sus descendientes con anzuelos de pescador.

The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that they shall take you away with hooks, and your residue with fish-hooks.

3 S aldrán en fila por las brechas una tras otra, y serán expulsadas del palacio —Palabra del Señor. A pesar del castigo, Israel no aprende

And ye shall go out at the breaches, every one straight before her; and ye shall cast yourselves into Harmon, saith Jehovah.

4 » ¡Vayan a Betel, y sigan pecando! ¡Aumenten sus rebeldías en Gilgal! ¡Traigan sus sacrificios cada mañana, y sus diezmos cada tres días!

Come to Beth-el, and transgress; to Gilgal, and multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes every three days;

5 H ijos de Israel, ¡ofrezcan sacrificios de alabanza con pan leudado, y háganlo saber! ¡Anuncien sus ofrendas voluntarias, ya que así lo quieren! —Palabra del Señor.

and offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of that which is leavened, and proclaim freewill-offerings and publish them: for this pleaseth you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah.

6 » Yo les hice pasar hambre en todas sus ciudades, y hubo falta de pan en todos sus pueblos, ¡pero ustedes no se volvieron a mí! —Palabra del Señor.

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places; yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah.

7 » También les detuve la lluvia tres meses antes de la siega. Sobre una ciudad hacía llover, y sobre otra no; en una parte llovía, y la parte donde no llovía se secó.

And I also have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest; and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

8 L a gente de dos o tres ciudades venía a una sola ciudad para beber agua, pero no saciaban su sed. A pesar de eso, ¡ustedes no se volvieron a mí! —Palabra del Señor.

So two or three cities wandered unto one city to drink water, and were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah.

9 » Los herí con viento solano y con oruga. La langosta devoró la multitud de sus huertos y viñas, y sus higueras y olivares, ¡pero ustedes no se volvieron a mí! —Palabra del Señor.

I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: the multitude of your gardens and your vineyards and your fig-trees and your olive-trees hath the palmer-worm devoured: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah.

10 » Envié contra ustedes mortandad, tal y como lo hice en Egipto. Maté a filo de espada a sus jóvenes; dejé que sus caballos fueran capturados, y además hice que el hedor de sus campamentos les llegara hasta las narices, ¡pero ustedes no se volvieron a mí! —Palabra del Señor.

I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have carried away your horses; and I have made the stench of your camp to come up even into your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah.

11 » Los trastorné como cuando trastorné a Sodoma y Gomorra. Hasta parecían un tizón retirado del fuego. ¡Pero ustedes no se volvieron a mí! —Palabra del Señor.

I have overthrown cities among you, as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a brand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith Jehovah.

12 » Por lo tanto, Israel, voy a darte el trato que mereces; y puesto que así te voy a tratar, ¡prepárate, Israel, para encontrarte con tu Dios!»

Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel; and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

13 ¡ Aquí está el que forma los montes! ¡Aquí está el creador del viento! El que nos da a conocer sus planes, el que convierte en luz las tinieblas, el que recorre las alturas de la tierra! ¡Su nombre es el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos!

For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought; that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the Earth-jehovah, the God of hosts, is his name.
