1 ¡ Ay de Ariel, Ariel! ¡Ay de la ciudad donde habitó David! Añadan un año a otro, y que las fiestas sigan su curso;

Ho Ariel, Ariel, the city where David encamped! add ye year to year; let the feasts come round:

2 p ero yo pondré a Ariel bajo asedio, y quedará desconsolada y triste; será para mí como Ariel.

then will I distress Ariel, and there shall be mourning and lamentation; and she shall be unto me as Ariel.

3 P orque yo acamparé contra ti y te sitiaré; te rodearé con campamentos, y levantaré baluartes para atacarte.

And I will encamp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with posted troops, and I will raise siege works against thee.

4 E ntonces serás humillada. Hablarás, y tus palabras brotarán desde el polvo de la tierra; tu voz, desde allí, resonará como la de un fantasma; tus palabras serán un susurro desde el polvo.

And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust; and thy voice shall be as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

5 L a multitud de tus enemigos parecerá un polvo menudo; la multitud de los fuertes se parecerá al tamo que pasa; y todo esto sucederá en un momento, de repente.

But the multitude of thy foes shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be in an instant suddenly.

6 E l Señor de los ejércitos te visitará con truenos y terremotos, con el estruendo de un torbellino y de una tempestad; con la llama de un fuego consumidor.

She shall be visited of Jehovah of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of a devouring fire.

7 L a multitud de todas las naciones que pelean contra Ariel será como el sueño de una visión nocturna; así serán todos los que pelean contra ella y contra su fortaleza, y los que la ponen bajo asedio.

And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her stronghold, and that distress her, shall be as a dream, a vision of the night.

8 L es pasará lo mismo que al que tiene hambre y sueña, y le parece que come, pero cuando despierta su estómago está vacío; o como al que tiene sed y sueña, y le parece que bebe, pero cuando despierta se encuentra cansado y sediento. ¡Así será la multitud de todas las naciones que pelearán contra el monte de Sión! Ceguera e hipocresía de Israel

And it shall be as when a hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

9 D eténganse y asómbrense; ofúsquense y queden ciegos; embriáguense, pero no con vino; tambaléense, pero no por causa de la sidra.

Tarry ye and wonder; take your pleasure and be blind: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

10 P orque el Señor ha derramado sobre ustedes un espíritu que los hace dormir; ha cerrado los ojos de sus profetas, y ha echado un velo sobre la cabeza de sus videntes.

For Jehovah hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes, the prophets; and your heads, the seers, hath he covered.

11 T oda visión será para ustedes como las palabras de un libro sellado, que si se le diera a quien sabe leer y se le pidiera leerlo, aquél diría «No puedo leerlo, porque está sellado.»

And all vision is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I cannot, for it is sealed:

12 Y si se le diera el libro al que no sabe leer, y se le pidiera leerlo, aquél diría «No sé leer.»

and the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I am not learned.

13 E l Señor dice: «A decir verdad, este pueblo se acerca a mí con la boca, y me honra con los labios, pero su corazón está lejos de mí; el temor que de mí tiene no es más que un mandamiento humano, que le ha sido enseñado.

And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw nigh unto me, and with their mouth and with their lips to honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which hath been taught them;

14 P or eso, volveré a despertar la admiración de este pueblo con un prodigio impresionante y maravilloso. Quedará deshecha la sabiduría de sus sabios, y se desvanecerá la inteligencia de sus entendidos.»

therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

15 ¡ Ay de los que se esconden del Señor, y encubren el consejo y todo lo hacen en tinieblas! Y todavía dicen: «¡Nadie nos ve! ¡Nadie nos conoce!»

Woe unto them that hide deep their counsel from Jehovah, and whose works are in the dark, and that say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

16 L a perversidad de ustedes será reputada como el barro del alfarero. ¿Acaso la obra dirá que quien la hizo realmente no la hizo? ¿Acaso la vasija dirá que quien la modeló no sabía lo que estaba haciendo? Redención de Israel

Ye turn things upside down! Shall the potter be esteemed as clay; that the thing made should say of him that made it, He made me not; or the thing formed say of him that formed it, He hath no understanding?

17 D entro de muy poco tiempo el Líbano se convertirá en un campo fructífero, y el campo fértil será considerado bosque.

Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

18 C uando llegue ese día, los sordos oirán las palabras del libro, y los ojos de los ciegos verán en medio de la más densa oscuridad.

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

19 A umentará en el Señor la alegría de los humildes, y aun la gente más pobre se alegrará por el Santo de Israel.

The meek also shall increase their joy in Jehovah, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

20 P orque el violento será aniquilado, y el cínico será consumido; todos los que no duermen por cometer iniquidades serán eliminados;

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scoffer ceaseth, and all they that watch for iniquity are cut off;

21 t odos los que hacen pecar de palabra a la gente; todos los que tienden trampas a los que defienden una causa ante el tribunal de la ciudad, los que con falsedades pervierten la causa del hombre justo.

that make a man an offender in his cause, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just with a thing of nought.

22 P or eso el Señor, el que rescató a Abrahán, dice así a la casa de Jacob: «Jacob ya no será avergonzado, ni su rostro volverá a palidecer

Therefore thus saith Jehovah, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.

23 c uando vea lo que yo voy a hacer en medio de ellos: sus hijos santificarán mi nombre; santificarán al Santo de Jacob, ¡temerán al Dios de Israel!

But when he seeth his children, the work of my hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name; yea, they shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall stand in awe of the God of Israel.

24 E ntonces los de ánimo extraviado aprenderán a ser inteligentes, y los que hablaban mal de mí recibirán mi enseñanza.»

They also that err in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmur shall receive instruction.
