1 U no de los siete ángeles que tenían las siete copas, vino y me dijo: «Ven acá, y te mostraré el castigo para la gran ramera, la que está sentada sobre muchas aguas.

And there came one of the seven angels that had the seven bowls, and spake with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the judgment of the great harlot that sitteth upon many waters;

2 C on ella han adulterado los reyes de la tierra, y los habitantes de la tierra se han embriagado con el vino de su inmoralidad sexual.»

with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and they that dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her fornication.

3 D espués el ángel me llevó en el Espíritu al desierto, y allí vi a una mujer sentada sobre una bestia escarlata, que tenía siete cabezas y diez cuernos, y estaba llena de nombres blasfemos.

And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness: and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet-colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

4 L a mujer estaba vestida de púrpura y escarlata, y portaba adornos de oro, piedras preciosas y perlas. En la mano tenía una copa de oro, la cual rebosaba de cosas detestables y de la inmundicia de su inmoralidad sexual.

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stone and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations, even the unclean things of her fornication,

5 I nscrito en la frente ostentaba un nombre, cuyo sentido era un misterio: «La gran Babilonia, madre de las rameras y de las abominaciones de la tierra.»

and upon her forehead a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6 V i que la mujer estaba ebria de la sangre de los santos, y de la sangre de los testigos de Jesús. Al verla, quedé muy asombrado.

And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered with a great wonder.

7 P ero el ángel me dijo: «¿Por qué te asombras? Yo te voy a decir cuál es el misterio de la mujer, y de la bestia en que viene, la bestia de siete cabezas y diez cuernos.

And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou wonder? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and the ten horns.

8 L a bestia que has visto, era pero ya no es; y está a punto de subir del abismo para ir a la perdición. Los habitantes de la tierra, cuyos nombres no están inscritos en el libro de la vida desde la fundación del mundo, se asombrarán al ver que la bestia era y ya no es, pero que reaparecerá.

The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss, and to go into perdition. And they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, they whose name hath not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast, how that he was, and is not, and shall come.

9 A quí se verá la mente que tenga sabiduría: Las siete cabezas son siete montes, sobre los cuales se sienta la mujer,

Here is the mind that hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth:

10 y son también siete reyes. Cinco de ellos ya no reinan; uno está reinando, y el otro aún no ha llegado; pero cuando venga, es preciso que reine algún tiempo.

and they are seven kings; the five are fallen, the one is, the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a little while.

11 L a bestia que era y ya no es, es también el octavo rey; y es uno de los siete, y va camino a la perdición.

And the beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goeth into perdition.

12 L os diez cuernos que has visto, son diez reyes que aún no han empezado a reinar; pero recibirán autoridad para reinar toda una hora, junto con la bestia.

And the ten horns that thou sawest are ten kings, who have received no kingdom as yet; but they receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

13 E l propósito de estos reyes es el mismo, que es el de entregar a la bestia su poder y autoridad.

These have one mind, and they give their power and authority unto the beast.

14 P elearán contra el Cordero, pero el Cordero los vencerá, porque él es Señor de señores y Rey de reyes; y a los que están con él se les llama “elegidos” y “fieles”.»

These shall war against the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings; and they also shall overcome that are with him, called and chosen and faithful.

15 E l ángel también me dijo: «Las aguas que has visto, donde está sentada la ramera, son multitud de pueblos, naciones y lenguas.

And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

16 Y los diez cuernos y la bestia que viste aborrecerán a la ramera y la dejarán abandonada y desnuda; devorarán sus carnes, y la quemarán con fuego.

And the ten horns which thou sawest, and the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her utterly with fire.

17 D ios ha puesto en el corazón de ellos el ejecutar lo que él se ha propuesto hacer: se pondrán de acuerdo, y entregarán su reino a la bestia, hasta que se cumplan las palabras de Dios.

For God did put in their hearts to do his mind, and to come to one mind, and to give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.

18 L a mujer que has visto es la gran ciudad que reina sobre los reyes de la tierra.»

And the woman whom thou sawest is the great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
