1 Y gritó en mis oídos con fuerte voz: «Ya han llegado los verdugos de la ciudad. Cada uno de ellos trae en la mano un instrumento destructor.»

Then he cried in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause ye them that have charge over the city to draw near, every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.

2 E ntonces vi que seis hombres venían por el camino de la puerta de arriba, la que mira hacia el norte, y cada uno de ellos traía en la mano un instrumento destructor. Entre ellos había un hombre vestido de lino, que traía en la cintura un tintero de escribano. Al llegar, se detuvieron junto al altar de bronce.

And behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which lieth toward the north, every man with his slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man in the midst of them clothed in linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side. And they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar.

3 E ntonces la gloria del Dios de Israel se elevó por encima del querubín sobre el que había estado, y se detuvo en el umbral del templo; allí el Señor llamó al hombre que estaba vestido de lino y que tenía en la cintura un tintero de escribano,

And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon it was, to the threshold of the house: and he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writer's inkhorn by his side.

4 y le dijo: «Pasa ahora por en medio de la ciudad de Jerusalén, y pon una señal en la frente de quienes gimen y claman a causa de todas las cosas repugnantes que se cometen en ella.»

And Jehovah said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done in the midst thereof.

5 T ambién escuché que a los otros les dijo: «Vayan tras él. Recorran juntos toda la ciudad, y maten a todos sin misericordia. No perdonen a nadie.

And to the others he said in my hearing, Go ye through the city after him, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity;

6 C omiencen por mi santuario y maten a los viejos, a los jóvenes y a las doncellas, a los niños y a las mujeres, hasta que nadie quede vivo. Pero no se acerquen a nadie que tenga la señal.» Ellos comenzaron por matar a los ancianos que estaban delante del templo.

slay utterly the old man, the young man and the virgin, and little children and women; but come not near any man upon whom is the mark: and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the old men that were before the house.

7 Y les dijo: «¡Vamos! ¡Contaminen el templo, llenen los atrios de cadáveres!» Ellos se dirigieron a la ciudad y comenzaron a matar gente.

And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and smote in the city.

8 P ero como yo me quedé solo mientras ellos iban matando gente, me incliné sobre mi rostro, y a gran voz clamé: «¡Ay, Señor y Dios! ¿Acaso por tu enojo contra Jerusalén vas a destruir a todo el remanente de Israel?»

And it came to pass, while they were smiting, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord Jehovah! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy wrath upon Jerusalem?

9 Y Dios me dijo: «La maldad del pueblo de Israel y de Judá es muy grande. La tierra está saturada de sangre, y la ciudad está llena de maldad. Andan diciendo que yo he abandonado la tierra, y que no me doy cuenta de nada.

Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of wrestling of judgment: for they say, Jehovah hath forsaken the land, and Jehovah seeth not.

10 A sí que voy a actuar, y no los perdonaré ni les tendré misericordia; al contrario, haré que recaigan sobre ellos las consecuencias de su mala conducta.»

And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will bring their way upon their head.

11 E n ese momento, el que estaba vestido de lino y llevaba un tintero en su cintura emitió este informe: «Ya he cumplido con todo lo que me mandaste hacer.»

And behold, the man clothed in linen, who had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me.
