Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.

2 S iempre damos gracias a Dios por todos ustedes, y los tenemos presentes en nuestras oraciones.

We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

3 C onstantemente los recordamos delante de nuestro Dios y Padre por sus actos de fe; por su trabajo, que es fruto de su amor, y por su sufrida esperanza en nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

4 H ermanos amados de Dios, sabemos que él los ha escogido,

knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election,

5 p ues nuestro evangelio no llegó a ustedes solamente en palabras, sino también en poder, en el Espíritu Santo y con plena convicción. Ustedes bien saben que, cuando estuvimos entre ustedes, siempre buscamos su propio bien.

how that our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; even as ye know what manner of men we showed ourselves toward you for your sake.

6 U stedes recibieron la palabra con gozo del Espíritu Santo, aún en medio de muchos sufrimientos, y llegaron a ser imitadores de nosotros y del Señor,

And ye became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit;

7 c on lo que llegaron a ser un ejemplo para todos los creyentes de Macedonia y de Acaya.

so that ye became an ensample to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.

8 C on ustedes como punto de partida, la palabra del Señor ha sido divulgada, y no sólo en Macedonia y Acaya, sino también en muchos otros lugares donde se sabe de la fe que ustedes tienen en Dios. Ya no es necesario que nosotros digamos nada,

For from you hath sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith to God-ward is gone forth; so that we need not to speak anything.

9 p orque ellos mismos hablan de lo bien que ustedes nos recibieron, y cómo se apartaron de los ídolos y se volvieron al Dios vivo y verdadero, para servirlo

For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how ye turned unto God from idols, to serve a living and true God,

10 y esperar de los cielos a Jesús, su Hijo, a quien Dios resucitó de los muertos, y que es quien nos libra de la ira venidera.

and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivereth us from the wrath to come.
