Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.

2 S iempre damos gracias a Dios por todos vosotros, haciendo mención de vosotros en nuestras oraciones;

We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

3 t eniendo presente sin cesar delante de nuestro Dios y Padre vuestra obra de fe, vuestro trabajo de amor y la firmeza de vuestra esperanza en nuestro Señor Jesucristo;

remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

4 s abiendo, hermanos amados de Dios, su elección de vosotros,

knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election,

5 p ues nuestro evangelio no vino a vosotros solamente en palabras, sino también en poder y en el Espíritu Santo y con plena convicción; como sabéis qué clase de personas demostramos ser entre vosotros por amor a vosotros.

how that our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; even as ye know what manner of men we showed ourselves toward you for your sake.

6 Y vosotros vinisteis a ser imitadores de nosotros y del Señor, habiendo recibido la palabra, en medio de mucha tribulación, con el gozo del Espíritu Santo,

And ye became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit;

7 d e manera que llegasteis a ser un ejemplo para todos los creyentes en Macedonia y en Acaya.

so that ye became an ensample to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.

8 P orque saliendo de vosotros, la palabra del Señor ha resonado, no sólo en Macedonia y Acaya, sino que también por todas partes vuestra fe en Dios se ha divulgado, de modo que nosotros no tenemos necesidad de hablar nada.

For from you hath sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith to God-ward is gone forth; so that we need not to speak anything.

9 P ues ellos mismos cuentan acerca de nosotros, de la acogida que tuvimos por parte de vosotros, y de cómo os convertisteis de los ídolos a Dios para servir al Dios vivo y verdadero,

For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how ye turned unto God from idols, to serve a living and true God,

10 y esperar de los cielos a su Hijo, al cual resucitó de entre los muertos, es decir, a Jesús, quien nos libra de la ira venidera.

and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivereth us from the wrath to come.
