1 ¡ Oíd ahora, ricos! Llorad y aullad por las miserias que vienen sobre vosotros.

Come now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.

2 V uestras riquezas se han podrido y vuestras ropas están comidas de polilla.

Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.

3 V uestro oro y vuestra plata se han oxidado, su herrumbre será un testigo contra vosotros y consumirá vuestra carne como fuego. Es en los últimos días que habéis acumulado tesoros.

Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have laid up your treasure in the last days.

4 M irad, el jornal de los obreros que han segado vuestros campos y que ha sido retenido por vosotros, clama contra vosotros; y el clamor de los segadores ha llegado a los oídos del Señor de los ejércitos.

Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

5 H abéis vivido lujosamente sobre la tierra, y habéis llevado una vida de placer desenfrenado; habéis engordado vuestros corazones en el día de la matanza.

Ye have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure; ye have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.

6 H abéis condenado y dado muerte al justo; él no os hace resistencia. Exhortación a la paciencia

Ye have condemned, ye have killed the righteous one; he doth not resist you.

7 P or tanto, hermanos, sed pacientes hasta la venida del Señor. Mirad cómo el labrador espera el fruto precioso de la tierra, siendo paciente en ello hasta que recibe la lluvia temprana y la tardía.

Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receive the early and latter rain.

8 S ed también vosotros pacientes; fortaleced vuestros corazones, porque la venida del Señor está cerca.

Be ye also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

9 H ermanos, no os quejéis unos contra otros, para que no seáis juzgados; mirad, el Juez está a las puertas.

Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged: behold, the judge standeth before the doors.

10 H ermanos, tomad como ejemplo de paciencia y aflicción a los profetas que hablaron en el nombre del Señor.

Take, brethren, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spake in the name of the Lord.

11 M irad que tenemos por bienaventurados a los que sufrieron. Habéis oído de la paciencia de Job, y habéis visto el resultado del proceder del Señor, que el Señor es muy compasivo, y misericordioso. Exhortaciones varias

Behold, we call them blessed that endured: ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord, how that the Lord is full of pity, and merciful.

12 Y sobre todo, hermanos míos, no juréis, ni por el cielo, ni por la tierra, ni con ningún otro juramento; antes bien, sea vuestro sí, sí, y vuestro no, no, para que no caigáis bajo juicio.

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by the heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under judgment.

13 ¿ Sufre alguno entre vosotros ? Que haga oración. ¿Está alguno alegre? Que cante alabanzas.

Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praise.

14 ¿ Está alguno entre vosotros enfermo? Que llame a los ancianos de la iglesia y que ellos oren por él, ungiéndolo con aceite en el nombre del Señor;

Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 y la oración de fe restaurará al enfermo, y el Señor lo levantará, y si ha cometido pecados le serán perdonados.

and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.

16 P or tanto, confesaos vuestros pecados unos a otros, y orad unos por otros para que seáis sanados. La oración eficaz del justo puede lograr mucho.

Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The supplication of a righteous man availeth much in its working.

17 E lías era un hombre de pasiones semejantes a las nuestras, y oró fervientemente para que no lloviera, y no llovió sobre la tierra por tres años y seis meses.

Elijah was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.

18 Y otra vez oró, y el cielo dio lluvia y la tierra produjo su fruto.

And he prayed again; and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

19 H ermanos míos, si alguno de entre vosotros se extravía de la verdad y alguno le hace volver,

My brethren, if any among you err from the truth, and one convert him;

20 s epa que el que hace volver a un pecador del error de su camino salvará su alma de muerte, y cubrirá multitud de pecados.

let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.
