1 E l hombre que después de mucha reprensión endurece la cerviz, de repente será quebrantado sin remedio.

He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

2 C uando los justos aumentan, el pueblo se alegra; pero cuando el impío gobierna, el pueblo gime.

When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.

3 E l que ama la sabiduría alegra a su padre, pero el que anda con rameras malgasta su fortuna.

Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; But he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth his substance.

4 E l rey con la justicia afianza la tierra, pero el hombre que acepta soborno la destruye.

The king by justice establisheth the land; But he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.

5 E l hombre que adula a su prójimo tiende una red ante sus pasos.

A man that flattereth his neighbor Spreadeth a net for his steps.

6 E l hombre malo es atrapado en la transgresión, pero el justo canta y se regocija.

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; But the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

7 E l justo se preocupa por la causa de los pobres, pero el impío no entiende tal preocupación.

The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; The wicked hath not understanding to know it.

8 L os escarnecedores agitan la ciudad, pero los sabios alejan la ira.

Scoffers set a city in a flame; But wise men turn away wrath.

9 C uando un sabio tiene controversia con un necio, éste se enoja o se ríe, y no hay sosiego.

If a wise man hath a controversy with a foolish man, Whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.

10 L os hombres sanguinarios odian al intachable, pero los rectos se preocupan por su alma.

The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect; And as for the upright, they seek his life.

11 E l necio da rienda suelta a su ira, pero el sabio la reprime.

A fool uttereth all his anger; But a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.

12 S i un gobernante presta atención a palabras mentirosas, todos sus servidores se vuelven impíos.

If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, All his servants are wicked.

13 E l pobre y el opresor tienen esto en común: el Señor da la luz a los ojos de ambos.

The poor man and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.

14 E l rey que juzga con verdad a los pobres afianzará su trono para siempre.

The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, His throne shall be established for ever.

15 L a vara y la reprensión dan sabiduría, pero el niño consentido avergüenza a su madre.

The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.

16 C uando aumentan los impíos, aumenta la transgresión, pero los justos verán su caída.

When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth; But the righteous shall look upon their fall.

17 C orrige a tu hijo y te dará descanso, y dará alegría a tu alma.

Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest; Yea, he will give delight unto thy soul.

18 D onde no hay visión, el pueblo se desenfrena, pero bienaventurado es el que guarda la ley.

Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

19 U n siervo no se corrige sólo con palabras; aunque entienda, no responderá.

A servant will not be corrected by words; For though he understand, he will not give heed.

20 ¿ Ves a un hombre precipitado en sus palabras ? Más esperanza hay para el necio que para él.

Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him.

21 E l que mima a su siervo desde la niñez, al final lo tendrá por hijo.

He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child Shall have him become a son at the last.

22 E l hombre airado suscita rencillas, y el hombre violento abunda en transgresiones.

An angry man stirreth up strife, And a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.

23 E l orgullo del hombre lo humillará, pero el de espíritu humilde obtendrá honores.

A man's pride shall bring him low; But he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honor.

24 E l que se asocia con un ladrón aborrece su propia vida; oye el juramento, pero no dice nada.

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul; He heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.

25 E l temor al hombre es un lazo, pero el que confía en el Señor estará seguro.

The fear of man bringeth a snare; But whoso putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be safe.

26 M uchos buscan el favor del gobernante, pero del Señor viene la justicia para el hombre.

Many seek the ruler's favor; But a man's judgment cometh from Jehovah.

27 A bominación para los justos es el inicuo, y abominación para el impío el recto en su camino.

An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; And he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
