1 E n aquellos días Ezequías cayó enfermo de muerte. Y vino a él el profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz, y le dijo: Así dice el Señor: “Pon tu casa en orden, porque morirás y no vivirás.”

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Set thy house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

2 E ntonces Ezequías volvió su rostro hacia la pared y oró al Señor,

Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto Jehovah,

3 y dijo: Te ruego, oh Señor, que te acuerdes ahora de cómo yo he andado delante de ti en verdad y con corazón íntegro, y he hecho lo bueno ante tus ojos. Y Ezequías lloró amargamente.

and said, Remember now, O Jehovah, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

4 E ntonces la palabra del Señor vino a Isaías, diciendo:

Then came the word of Jehovah to Isaiah, saying,

5 V e y di a Ezequías: “Así dice el Señor, Dios de tu padre David: ‘He escuchado tu oración y he visto tus lágrimas; he aquí, añadiré quince años a tus días.

Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.

6 ‘ Y te libraré a ti y a esta ciudad de la mano del rey de Asiria, y defenderé esta ciudad.’”

And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city.

7 E sta será para ti la señal del Señor, de que el Señor hará lo que ha dicho:

And this shall be the sign unto thee from Jehovah, that Jehovah will do this thing that he hath spoken:

8 H e aquí, haré que la sombra en las gradas, que ha descendido con el sol en las gradas de Acaz, vuelva atrás diez grados. Y la sombra del sol retrocedió diez grados en las gradas por las que había descendido.

behold, I will cause the shadow on the steps, which is gone down on the dial of Ahaz with the sun, to return backward ten steps. So the sun returned ten steps on the dial whereon it was gone down.

9 E scritura de Ezequías, rey de Judá, cuando enfermó y sanó de su enfermedad.

The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness.

10 Y o dije: A la mitad de mis días he de entrar por las puertas del Seol; se me priva del resto de mis años.

I said, In the noontide of my days I shall go into the gates of Sheol: I am deprived of the residue of my years.

11 D ije: No veré al Señor, al Señor en la tierra de los vivientes; no veré más hombre alguno entre los habitantes del mundo.

I said, I shall not see Jehovah, even Jehovah in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

12 C omo tienda de pastor, mi morada es arrancada y alejada de mí; como tejedor enrollé mi vida. Del telar, El me cortó; del día a la noche acabas conmigo.

My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me as a shepherd's tent: I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life; he will cut me off from the loom: From day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

13 S osegué mi alma hasta la mañana. Como león, El rompe todos mis huesos; del día a la noche, acabas conmigo.

I quieted myself until morning; as a lion, so he breaketh all my bones: From day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

14 C omo golondrina, como grulla, así me quejo, gimo como una paloma; mis ojos miran ansiosamente a las alturas. Oh Señor, estoy oprimido, sé tú mi ayudador.

Like a swallow or a crane, so did I chatter; I did moan as a dove; mine eyes fail with looking upward: O Lord, I am oppressed, be thou my surety.

15 ¿ Qué diré? Pues El me ha hablado y El mismo lo ha hecho. Andaré errante todos mis años a causa de la amargura de mi alma.

What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.

16 O h Señor, por estas cosas viven los hombres, y en todas ellas está la vida de mi espíritu. Restabléceme la salud y haz que viva.

O Lord, by these things men live; And wholly therein is the life of my spirit: Wherefore recover thou me, and make me to live.

17 H e aquí, por mi bienestar tuve gran amargura; eres tú quien ha guardado mi alma del abismo de la nada, porque echaste tras tus espaldas todos mis pecados.

Behold, it was for my peace that I had great bitterness: But thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

18 P ues el Seol no te expresa gratitud, ni la muerte te alaba. Los que descienden a la fosa no pueden esperar tu fidelidad.

For Sheol cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

19 E l que vive, el que vive es el que te da gracias, como yo lo hago hoy. El padre cuenta a sus hijos tu fidelidad.

The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: The father to the children shall make known thy truth.

20 E l Señor me salvará; y tocaremos mis canciones en instrumentos de cuerda todos los días de nuestra vida en la casa del Señor.

Jehovah is ready to save me: Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments All the days of our life in the house of Jehovah.

21 E Isaías había dicho: Que tomen una masa de higos y la pongan en la llaga para que se recupere.

Now Isaiah had said, Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the boil, and he shall recover.

22 E ntonces Ezequías había dicho: ¿Cuál será la señal de que subiré a la casa del Señor ?

Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of Jehovah?
