1 Y ahora, para vosotros, sacerdotes, es este mandamiento.

And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.

2 S i no escucháis, y si no decidís de corazón dar honor a mi nombre —dice el Señor de los ejércitos— enviaré sobre vosotros maldición, y maldeciré vuestras bendiciones; y en verdad, ya las he maldecido, porque no lo habéis decidido de corazón.

If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, then will I send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

3 H e aquí, yo reprenderé a vuestra descendencia, y os echaré estiércol a la cara, el estiércol de vuestras fiestas, y seréis llevados con él.

Behold, I will rebuke your seed, and will spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your feasts; and ye shall be taken away with it.

4 E ntonces sabréis que os he enviado este mandamiento para que mi pacto siga con Leví —dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant may be with Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts.

5 M i pacto con él era de vida y paz, las cuales le di para que me reverenciara; y él me reverenció, y estaba lleno de temor ante mi nombre.

My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him that he might fear; and he feared me, and stood in awe of my name.

6 L a verdadera instrucción estaba en su boca, y no se hallaba iniquidad en sus labios; en paz y rectitud caminaba conmigo, y apartaba a muchos de la iniquidad.

The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many away from iniquity.

7 P ues los labios del sacerdote deben guardar la sabiduría, y los hombres deben buscar la instrucción de su boca, porque él es el mensajero del Señor de los ejércitos.

For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

8 P ero vosotros os habéis desviado del camino, habéis hecho tropezar a muchos en la ley, habéis corrompido el pacto de Leví —dice el Señor de los ejércitos.

But ye are turned aside out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble in the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith Jehovah of hosts.

9 P or eso yo también os he hecho despreciables y viles ante todo el pueblo, así como vosotros no habéis guardado mis caminos y hacéis acepción de personas en la ley. Abominaciones del pueblo

Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have had respect of persons in the law.

10 ¿ No tenemos todos un mismo padre? ¿No nos ha creado un mismo Dios ? ¿Por qué nos portamos deslealmente unos contra otros, profanando el pacto de nuestros padres ?

Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, profaning the covenant of our fathers?

11 D eslealmente ha obrado Judá, y una abominación se ha cometido en Israel y en Jerusalén; pues Judá ha profanado el santuario del Señor, que El ama, y se ha casado con la hija de un dios extraño.

Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of Jehovah which he loveth, and hath married the daughter of a foreign god.

12 Q ue el Señor extermine de las tiendas de Jacob al hombre que hace esto (sea testigo o defensor ) aunque presente una ofrenda al Señor de los ejércitos.

Jehovah will cut off, to the man that doeth this, him that waketh and him that answereth, out of the tents of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto Jehovah of hosts.

13 Y esta otra cosa hacéis: cubrís el altar del Señor de lágrimas, llantos y gemidos, porque El ya no mira la ofrenda ni la acepta con agrado de vuestra mano.

And this again ye do: ye cover the altar of Jehovah with tears, with weeping, and with sighing, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, neither receiveth it with good will at your hand.

14 Y vosotros decís: “¿Por qué?” Porque el Señor ha sido testigo entre tú y la mujer de tu juventud, contra la cual has obrado deslealmente, aunque ella es tu compañera y la mujer de tu pacto.

Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because Jehovah hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, though she is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

15 P ero ninguno que tenga un remanente del Espíritu lo ha hecho así. ¿Y qué hizo éste mientras buscaba una descendencia de parte de Dios ? Prestad atención, pues, a vuestro espíritu; no seas desleal con la mujer de tu juventud.

And did he not make one, although he had the residue of the Spirit? And wherefore one? He sought a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

16 P orque yo detesto el divorcio —dice el Señor, Dios de Israel— y al que cubre de iniquidad su vestidura —dice el Señor de los ejércitos—. Prestad atención, pues, a vuestro espíritu y no seáis desleales.

For I hate putting away, saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, and him that covereth his garment with violence, saith Jehovah of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

17 H abéis cansado al Señor con vuestras palabras. Y decís: ¿En qué le hemos cansado? Cuando decís: Todo el que hace mal es bueno a los ojos del Señor, y en ellos El se complace; o: ¿Dónde está el Dios de la justicia ?

Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? In that ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of Jehovah, and he delighteth in them; or where is the God of justice?
