1 Y habló Dios todas estas palabras, diciendo:

And God spake all these words, saying,

2 Y o soy el Señor tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre.

I am Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 N o tendrás otros dioses delante de mí.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 N o te harás ídolo, ni semejanza alguna de lo que está arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra.

Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 N o los adorarás ni los servirás; porque yo, el Señor tu Dios, soy Dios celoso, que castigo la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me aborrecen,

Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me,

6 y muestro misericordia a millares, a los que me aman y guardan mis mandamientos.

and showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

7 N o tomarás el nombre del Señor tu Dios en vano, porque el Señor no tendrá por inocente al que tome su nombre en vano.

Thou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 A cuérdate del día de reposo para santificarlo.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 S eis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra,

Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work;

10 m as el séptimo día es día de reposo para el Señor tu Dios; no harás en él obra alguna, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu sierva, ni tu ganado, ni el extranjero que está contigo.

but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 P orque en seis días hizo el Señor los cielos y la tierra, el mar y todo lo que en ellos hay, y reposó en el séptimo día; por tanto, el Señor bendijo el día de reposo y lo santificó.

for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 H onra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tus días sean prolongados en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da.

Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

13 N o matarás.

Thou shalt not kill.

14 N o cometerás adulterio.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 N o hurtarás.

Thou shalt not steal.

16 N o darás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

17 N o codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo; no codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, ni su siervo, ni su sierva, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni nada que sea de tu prójimo. El pueblo teme al Señor

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.

18 Y todo el pueblo percibía los truenos y relámpagos, el sonido de la trompeta y el monte que humeaba; y cuando el pueblo vio aquello, temblaron, y se mantuvieron a distancia.

And all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off.

19 E ntonces dijeron a Moisés: Habla tú con nosotros y escucharemos; pero que no hable Dios con nosotros, no sea que muramos.

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20 Y respondió Moisés al pueblo: No temáis, porque Dios ha venido para poneros a prueba, y para que su temor permanezca en vosotros, y para que no pequéis.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not.

21 Y el pueblo se mantuvo a distancia, mientras Moisés se acercaba a la densa nube donde estaba Dios.

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

22 E ntonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: “Vosotros habéis visto que os he hablado desde el cielo.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 “ No haréis junto a mí dioses de plata ni dioses de oro; no os los haréis.

Ye shall not make other gods with me; gods of silver, or gods of gold, ye shall not make unto you.

24 “ Harás un altar de tierra para mí, y sobre él sacrificarás tus holocaustos y tus ofrendas de paz, tus ovejas y tus bueyes; en todo lugar donde yo haga recordar mi nombre, vendré a ti y te bendeciré.

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in every place where I record my name I will come unto thee and I will bless thee.

25 “ Y si me haces un altar de piedra, no lo construirás de piedras labradas; porque si alzas tu cincel sobre él, lo profanarás.

And if thou make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones; for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

26 “ Y no subirás por gradas a mi altar, para que tu desnudez no se descubra sobre él.”

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not uncovered thereon.
