1 T hen God spoke all these words:

And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord your God, Who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

I am Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Y ou shall have no other gods before or besides Me.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Y ou shall not make yourself any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Y ou shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me,

Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me,

6 B ut showing mercy and steadfast love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.

and showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

7 Y ou shall not use or repeat the name of the Lord your God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

Thou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8 r emember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (withdrawn from common employment and dedicated to God).

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 S ix days you shall labor and do all your work,

Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work;

10 B ut the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, your domestic animals, or the sojourner within your gates.

but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 F or in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 R egard (treat with honor, due obedience, and courtesy) your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land the Lord your God gives you.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

17 Y ou shall not covet your neighbor’s house, your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.

18 N ow all the people perceived the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the smoking mountain, and as looked they trembled with fear and fell back and stood afar off.

And all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off.

19 A nd they said to Moses, You speak to us and we will listen, but let not God speak to us, lest we die.

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

20 A nd Moses said to the people, Fear not; for God has come to prove you, so that the fear of Him may be before you, that you may not sin.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not.

21 A nd the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

22 A nd the Lord said to Moses, Thus shall you say to the Israelites, You have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 Y ou shall not make with Me; gods of silver or gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves.

Ye shall not make other gods with me; gods of silver, or gods of gold, ye shall not make unto you.

24 A n altar of earth you shall make to Me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I record My name and cause it to be remembered I will come to you and bless you.

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in every place where I record my name I will come unto thee and I will bless thee.

25 A nd if you will make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone, for if you lift up a tool upon it you have polluted it.

And if thou make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones; for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

26 N either shall you go up by steps to My altar, that your nakedness be not exposed upon it.

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not uncovered thereon.
