1 A hora bien, hermanos, con respecto a los tiempos y a las épocas, no tenéis necesidad de que se os escriba nada.

But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that aught be written unto you.

2 P ues vosotros mismos sabéis perfectamente que el día del Señor vendrá así como un ladrón en la noche;

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3 q ue cuando estén diciendo: Paz y seguridad, entonces la destrucción vendrá sobre ellos repentinamente, como dolores de parto a una mujer que está encinta, y no escaparán.

When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape.

4 M as vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que el día os sorprenda como ladrón;

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief:

5 p orque todos vosotros sois hijos de la luz e hijos del día. No somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas.

for ye are all sons of light, and sons of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness;

6 P or tanto, no durmamos como los demás, sino estemos alerta y seamos sobrios.

so then let us not sleep, as do the rest, but let us watch and be sober.

7 P orque los que duermen, de noche duermen, y los que se emborrachan, de noche se emborrachan.

For they that sleep sleep in the night: and they that are drunken are drunken in the night.

8 P ero puesto que nosotros somos del día, seamos sobrios, habiéndonos puesto la coraza de la fe y del amor, y por yelmo la esperanza de la salvación.

But let us, since we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

9 P orque no nos ha destinado Dios para ira, sino para obtener salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,

For God appointed us not into wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 q ue murió por nosotros, para que ya sea que estemos despiertos o dormidos, vivamos juntamente con El.

who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 P or tanto, alentaos los unos a los otros, y edificaos el uno al otro, tal como lo estáis haciendo. Deberes prácticos de la vida cristiana

Wherefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as also ye do.

12 P ero os rogamos hermanos, que reconozcáis a los que con diligencia trabajan entre vosotros, y os dirigen en el Señor y os instruyen,

But we beseech you, brethren, to know them that labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13 y que los tengáis en muy alta estima con amor, por causa de su trabajo. Vivid en paz los unos con los otros.

and to esteem them exceeding highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

14 Y os exhortamos, hermanos, a que amonestéis a los indisciplinados, animéis a los desalentados, sostengáis a los débiles y seáis pacientes con todos.

And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all.

15 M irad que ninguno devuelva a otro mal por mal, sino procurad siempre lo bueno los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.

See that none render unto any one evil for evil; but always follow after that which is good, one toward another, and toward all.

16 E stad siempre gozosos;

Rejoice always;

17 o rad sin cesar;

pray without ceasing;

18 d ad gracias en todo, porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para vosotros en Cristo Jesús.

in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you-ward.

19 N o apaguéis el Espíritu;

Quench not the Spirit;

20 n o menospreciéis las profecías.

despise not prophesyings;

21 A ntes bien, examinadlo todo cuidadosamente, retened lo bueno;

prove all things; hold fast that which is good;

22 a bsteneos de toda forma de mal. Pablo ora por la santificación de los tesalonicenses

abstain from every form of evil.

23 Y que el mismo Dios de paz os santifique por completo; y que todo vuestro ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo, sea preservado irreprensible para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 F iel es el que os llama, el cual también lo hará. Saludos y bendición final

Faithful is he that calleth you, who will also do it.

25 H ermanos, orad por nosotros.

Brethren, pray for us.

26 S aludad a todos los hermanos con beso santo.

Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.

27 O s encargo solemnemente por el Señor que se lea esta carta a todos los hermanos.

I adjure you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the brethren.

28 L a gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
