1 P asaron tres años sin que hubiera guerra entre Aram e Israel.

And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.

2 Y sucedió que al tercer año, Josafat, rey de Judá, descendió a visitar al rey de Israel.

And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

3 Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos: ¿Sabéis que Ramot de Galaad nos pertenece, y no estamos haciendo nada para quitarla de mano del rey de Aram?

And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth-gilead is ours, and we are still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?

4 Y dijo a Josafat: ¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad? Respondió Josafat al rey de Israel: Yo soy como tú, mi pueblo como tu pueblo, mis caballos como tus caballos.

And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

5 J osafat dijo además al rey de Israel: Te ruego que consultes primero la palabra del Señor.

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire first, I pray thee, for the word of Jehovah.

6 E ntonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, unos cuatrocientos hombres, y les dijo: ¿Debo ir a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad o debo desistir? Y ellos respondieron: Sube porque el Señor la entregará en manos del rey.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.

7 P ero Josafat dijo: ¿No queda aún aquí algún profeta del Señor, para que le consultemos ?

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we may inquire of him?

8 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Todavía queda un hombre por medio de quien podemos consultar al Señor, pero lo aborrezco, porque no profetiza lo bueno en cuanto a mí, sino lo malo. Es Micaías, hijo de Imla. Pero Josafat dijo: No hable el rey así.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

9 E ntonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo: Trae pronto a Micaías, hijo de Imla.

Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah.

10 E l rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, estaban sentados cada uno en su trono, vestidos con sus mantos, en la era a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas estaban profetizando delante de ellos.

Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

11 Y Sedequías, hijo de Quenaana, se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro y decía: Así dice el Señor: “Con éstos acornearás a los arameos hasta acabarlos.”

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith Jehovah, With these shalt thou push the Syrians, until they be consumed.

12 Y todos los profetas profetizaban así, diciendo: Sube a Ramot de Galaad y tendrás éxito, pues el Señor la entregará en manos del rey.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper; for Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king.

13 Y el mensajero que fue a llamar a Micaías le habló, diciendo: He aquí, las palabras de los profetas son unánimes en favor del rey. Te ruego que tu palabra sea como la palabra de uno de ellos, y que hables favorablemente.

And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak thou good.

14 P ero Micaías dijo: Vive el Señor que lo que el Señor me diga, eso hablaré.

And Micaiah said, As Jehovah liveth, what Jehovah saith unto me, that will I speak.

15 Y cuando llegó al rey, el rey le dijo: Micaías, ¿iremos a Ramot de Galaad a pelear, o debemos desistir? Y él le respondió: Sube, y tendrás éxito, y el Señor la entregará en manos del rey.

And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go up and prosper; and Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king.

16 E ntonces el rey le dijo: ¿Cuántas veces he de tomarte juramento de que no me digas más que la verdad en el nombre del Señor ?

And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou speak unto me nothing but the truth in the name of Jehovah?

17 Y él respondió: Vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas sin pastor; y el Señor dijo: “Estos no tienen señor, que cada uno vuelva a su casa en paz.”

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and Jehovah said, These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.

18 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te dije que no profetizaría lo bueno acerca de mí, sino lo malo ?

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?

19 R espondió Micaías: Por tanto, escucha la palabra del Señor. Yo vi al Señor sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto a El, a su derecha y a su izquierda.

And Micaiah said, Therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

20 Y el Señor dijo: “¿Quién inducirá a Acab para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad?” Y uno decía de una manera, y otro de otra.

And Jehovah said, Who shall entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner; and another said on that manner.

21 E ntonces un espíritu se adelantó, y se puso delante del Señor, y dijo: “Yo le induciré.”

And there came forth a spirit, and stood before Jehovah, and said, I will entice him.

22 Y el Señor le dijo: “¿Cómo?” Y él respondió: “Saldré y seré espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas.” Entonces El dijo: “ Le inducirás y también prevalecerás. Ve y hazlo así.”

And Jehovah said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt entice him, and shalt prevail also: go forth, and do so.

23 Y ahora, he aquí que el Señor ha puesto un espíritu de mentira en boca de todos estos tus profetas; pues el Señor ha decretado el mal contra ti.

Now therefore, behold, Jehovah hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets; and Jehovah hath spoken evil concerning thee.

24 E ntonces se acercó Sedequías, hijo de Quenaana, y golpeó a Micaías en la mejilla y dijo: ¿Cómo es que el Espíritu del Señor pasó de mí para hablarte a ti ?

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of Jehovah from me to speak unto thee?

25 R espondió Micaías: He aquí, tú lo verás aquel día en que entres en un aposento interior para esconderte.

And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

26 Y el rey de Israel dijo: Toma a Micaías y devuélvelo a Amón, gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás, hijo del rey,

And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

27 y di: “Así dice el rey: ‘Echad a éste a la cárcel, y alimentadlo con poco pan y poca agua hasta que yo vuelva en paz.’”

and say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

28 Y Micaías dijo: Si en verdad vuelves en paz, el Señor no ha hablado por mí. Y añadió: Oíd, pueblos todos.

And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, Jehovah hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, ye peoples, all of you.

29 Y el rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, subieron contra Ramot de Galaad.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

30 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré para entrar en la batalla, pero tú ponte tus ropas reales. El rey de Israel se disfrazó y entró en la batalla.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but put thou on thy robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

31 P ero el rey de Aram había ordenado a los treinta y dos capitanes de sus carros, diciendo: No peleéis contra chico ni contra grande, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.

Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty and two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.

32 Y sucedió que cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel, y se desviaron para pelear contra él, pero Josafat gritó.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel; and they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.

33 Y sucedió que cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron que no era el rey de Israel, dejaron de perseguirlo. Muerte de Acab

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

34 Y un hombre disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey de Israel por entre la juntura de la armadura. Y él dijo a su cochero: Da la vuelta y sácame de la batalla, pues estoy gravemente herido.

And a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the armor: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am sore wounded.

35 P ero la batalla arreció aquel día, y el rey fue sostenido en su carro frente a los arameos y al atardecer murió; la sangre de la herida corría hasta el fondo del carro.

And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even; and the blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.

36 A la puesta del sol, pasó un grito por el ejército que decía: Cada hombre a su ciudad y cada uno a su tierra.

And there went a cry throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his country.

37 M urió, pues, el rey y fue llevado a Samaria, y sepultaron al rey en Samaria.

So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

38 L avaron el carro junto al estanque de Samaria y los perros lamieron su sangre (y allí se bañaban las rameras), conforme a la palabra que el Señor había hablado.

And they washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood (now the harlots washed themselves there); according unto the word of Jehovah which he spake.

39 L os demás hechos de Acab y todo lo que hizo, la casa de marfil que edificó y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Israel ?

Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

40 D urmió, pues, Acab con sus padres; y su hijo Ocozías reinó en su lugar. Reinados de Josafat y Ocozías

So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

41 Y Josafat, hijo de Asa, comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab, rey de Israel.

And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

42 J osafat tenía treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. Y el nombre de su madre era Azuba, hija de Silhi.

Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

43 Y anduvo en todo el camino de su padre Asa; no se desvió de él, haciendo lo recto ante los ojos del Señor. Sin embargo, los lugares altos no fueron quitados; todavía el pueblo sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos.

And he walked in all the way of Asa his father; He turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah: howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

44 T ambién Josafat hizo la paz con el rey de Israel.

And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

45 L os demás hechos de Josafat, el poderío que mostró y cómo guerreó, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las Crónicas de los reyes de Judá ?

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

46 Y echó fuera de la tierra al resto de los sodomitas que habían quedado en los días de su padre Asa.

And the remnant of the sodomites, that remained in the days of his father Asa, he put away out of the land.

47 N o había entonces ningún rey en Edom; había gobernador en lugar de rey.

And there was no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

48 J osafat se construyó naves de Tarsis para ir a Ofir por oro, pero no fueron porque las naves se rompieron en Ezión-geber.

Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.

49 Y Ocozías, hijo de Acab, dijo a Josafat: Permite que mis siervos vayan con tus siervos en las naves. Pero Josafat no quiso.

Then said Ahaziah the son of Ahab unto Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with thy servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.

50 Y Josafat durmió con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de su padre David; y su hijo Joram reinó en su lugar.

And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

51 O cozías, hijo de Acab, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria en el año diecisiete de Josafat, rey de Judá, y reinó dos años sobre Israel.

Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned two years over Israel.

52 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, y anduvo en el camino de su padre, en el camino de su madre y en el camino de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherein he made Israel to sin.

53 S irvió, pues, a Baal y lo adoró, y provocó a ira al Señor, Dios de Israel, conforme a todo lo que había hecho su padre.

And he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger Jehovah, the God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
