1 P or lo demás, hermanos, os rogamos, pues, y os exhortamos en el Señor Jesús, que como habéis recibido de nosotros instrucciones acerca de la manera en que debéis andar y agradar a Dios (como de hecho ya andáis), así abundéis en ello más y más.

Finally then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as ye received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, even as ye do walk, --that ye abound more and more.

2 P ues sabéis qué preceptos os dimos por autoridad del Señor Jesús.

For ye know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

3 P orque esta es la voluntad de Dios: vuestra santificación; es decir, que os abstengáis de inmoralidad sexual;

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication;

4 q ue cada uno de vosotros sepa cómo poseer su propio vaso en santificación y honor,

that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

5 n o en pasión de concupiscencia, como los gentiles que no conocen a Dios;

not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God;

6 y que nadie peque y defraude a su hermano en este asunto, porque el Señor es el vengador en todas estas cosas, como también antes os lo dijimos y advertimos solemnemente.

that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in the matter: because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

7 P orque Dios no nos ha llamado a impureza, sino a santificación.

For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

8 P or consiguiente, el que rechaza esto no rechaza a hombre, sino al Dios que os da su Espíritu Santo.

Therefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.

9 M as en cuanto al amor fraternal, no tenéis necesidad de que nadie os escriba, porque vosotros mismos habéis sido enseñados por Dios a amaros unos a otros;

But concerning love of the brethren ye have no need that one write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another;

10 p orque en verdad lo practicáis con todos los hermanos que están en toda Macedonia. Pero os instamos, hermanos, a que abundéis en ello más y más,

for indeed ye do it toward all the brethren that are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, that ye abound more and more;

11 y a que tengáis por vuestra ambición el llevar una vida tranquila, y os ocupéis en vuestros propios asuntos y trabajéis con vuestras manos, tal como os hemos mandado;

and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;

12 a fin de que os conduzcáis honradamente para con los de afuera, y no tengáis necesidad de nada. La venida del Señor

that ye may walk becomingly toward them that are without, and may have need of nothing.

13 P ero no queremos, hermanos, que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, para que no os entristezcáis como lo hacen los demás que no tienen esperanza.

But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

14 P orque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también Dios traerá con El a los que durmieron en Jesús.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 P or lo cual os decimos esto por la palabra del Señor: que nosotros los que estemos vivos y que permanezcamos hasta la venida del Señor, no precederemos a los que durmieron.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.

16 P ues el Señor mismo descenderá del cielo con voz de mando, con voz de arcángel y con la trompeta de Dios, y los muertos en Cristo se levantarán primero.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;

17 E ntonces nosotros, los que estemos vivos y que permanezcamos, seremos arrebatados juntamente con ellos en las nubes al encuentro del Señor en el aire, y así estaremos con el Señor siempre.

then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 P or tanto, confortaos unos a otros con estas palabras.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
