1 E l día diez del mes décimo del año noveno la palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 « Hijo de hombre, escribe la fecha de hoy, porque hoy el rey de Babilonia ha sitiado a Jerusalén.

Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this selfsame day: the king of Babylon drew close unto Jerusalem this selfsame day.

3 Y a ese pueblo rebelde dile de mi parte la siguiente parábola. Toma una olla, y llénala de agua;

And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:

4 p on luego en ella la mejores piezas de carne, como la pierna y la espalda, y luego llénala con los mejores huesos.

gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

5 T oma entonces una de las mejores ovejas y echa en el fondo los huesos, y haz que hierva bien para que también los huesos se cuezan.»

Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile of wood for the bones under the caldron; make it boil well; yea, let the bones thereof be boiled in the midst of it.

6 A sí ha dicho Dios el Señor: «¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria! ¡Ay de la olla oxidada, cuya herrumbre no se puede limpiar! ¡Saca las piezas de carne, una por una! ¡No las escojas!

Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen upon it.

7 S us calles están llenas de sangre, la cual no derramó en el suelo para que la tierra la absorbiera, sino que la derramó sobre las piedras.

For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust.

8 P ues yo también dejaré que su sangre corra sobre las duras piedras, y que no sea absorbida por la tierra, porque ha hecho que mi ira se encienda; ¡me ha incitado a tomar venganza!»

That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered.

9 P or tanto, así ha dicho Dios el Señor: «¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria! Pues yo también voy a hacer una gran hoguera.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.

10 V oy a amontonar la leña y a encender el fuego para que la carne se consuma. Voy a preparar la salsa y a quemar los huesos.

Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned.

11 P ondré luego la olla vacía sobre las brasas, para que su fondo se caldee y se queme. ¡Así se fundirá su suciedad y se consumirá su herrumbre!

Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that it may be hot, and the brass thereof may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the rust of it may be consumed.

12 N o tiene caso tratar de quitarle tanta herrumbre, pues sólo se le quitará quemándola en el fuego.

She hath wearied herself with toil; yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her; her rust goeth not forth by fire.

13 » Tú, Jerusalén, sufrirás por tu impureza y tu lujuria. Yo te limpié, pero tú no has querido limpiarte de tu impureza. Por eso, ¡no volverás a limpiarte, hasta que yo haya calmado mi enojo contra ti.

In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed thee and thou wast not cleansed, thou shalt not be cleansed from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my wrath toward thee to rest.

14 Y o, el Señor, he hablado. No voy a cambiar de parecer ni voy a tener misericordia de ti, sino que vendré y te juzgaré de acuerdo con tus hechos y tu mal proceder.» Palabra de Dios el Señor. Muerte de la esposa de Ezequiel

I, Jehovah, have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

15 L a palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

Also the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

16 « Mira, hijo de hombre: voy a arrebatarte de un solo golpe a la mujer que admiras. Pero no llores por ella ni lamentes su muerte. No derrames por ella una sola lágrima.

Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet thou shalt neither mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.

17 R espira profundo y no guardes luto por ella. No te cubras el rostro ni comas el pan que comen los deudos; al contrario, ponte un turbante sobre la cabeza y cálzate los pies.»

Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.

18 P or la mañana hablé con el pueblo, por la tarde murió mi mujer, y al día siguiente hice lo que el Señor me había ordenado hacer.

So I spake unto the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

19 E ntonces el pueblo me dijo: «¿No vas a decirnos lo que significa para nosotros todo lo que haces?»

And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?

20 Y yo les contesté: «La palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me ordenó

Then I said unto them, The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

21 d ecir de su parte a ustedes, pueblo de Israel: “Yo, su Señor y Dios, declaro que voy a profanar mi santuario, al que ustedes tanto admiran y en el cual se deleitan, y de cuya grandeza ustedes se enorgullecen. Y los hijos y las hijas que ustedes han dejado morirán a filo de espada.”

Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.

22 A sí que ustedes deben hacer lo mismo que hice yo: no se cubrirán el rostro, ni comerán el pan que comen los deudos.

And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.

23 T ampoco llorarán ni harán lamentaciones; al contrario, se pondrán un turbante en la cabeza y se calzarán los pies, y se consumirán por causa de sus maldades y gemirán los unos con los otros.

And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.

24 Y o, Ezequiel, les serviré de señal para que hagan lo mismo que hice yo. Cuando esto ocurra, sabrán que yo soy el Señor su Dios.

Thus shall Ezekiel be unto you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do: when this cometh, then shall ye know that I am the Lord Jehovah.

25 » En cuanto a ti, hijo de hombre, el día que yo les arrebate su fortaleza, su motivo de gozo y de orgullo, ese templo que ellos y sus hijos e hijas tanto admiran y aman,

And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters,

26 e se mismo día vendrá a verte uno que habrá escapado para traerte las noticias.

that in that day he that escapeth shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?

27 E se día podrás abrir la boca para hablar con el fugitivo. Ya no permanecerás mudo, sino que hablarás y les servirás de señal. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor.»

In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: so shalt thou be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.
