1 » Cuando terminamos de reconstruir la muralla y colocamos las puertas, designamos a los porteros, cantores y levitas.

Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

2 A demás, escogí a mi hermano Jananí y a Jananías, un hombre recto y temerosos de Dios como ningún otro, que era jefe de la fortaleza de Jerusalén,

that I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the governor of the castle, charge over Jerusalem; for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.

3 y les dije: “Las puertas de Jerusalén no deben abrirse antes de que el sol caliente. Aunque haya gente que quiera entrar, cierren bien las puertas y corran los cerrojos.” »Luego, de entre los que vivían en Jerusalén escogí guardias, para que vigilaran por turnos el frente de sus casas.

And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand on guard, let them shut the doors, and bar ye them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.

4 E sta decisión la tomé porque nuestra ciudad estaba muy extendida pero poco habitada, pues muchas casas todavía no se habían reconstruido.

Now the city was wide and large; but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.

5 » Entonces el Señor me llevó a reunir a los nobles y oficiales, y al pueblo en general, para que fueran empadronados según su genealogía. Hallé el libro genealógico de los israelitas que habían vuelto antes, y allí encontré anotados los siguientes nombres,

And my God put into my heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found the book of the genealogy of them that came up at the first, and I found written therein:

6 y la lista de la gente que Nabucodonor había llevado cautiva a Babilonia y que ahora volvían a Jerusalén y a Judá, cada uno a su ciudad.» Los que volvieron con Zorobabel

These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and that returned unto Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;

7 L os jefes que volvieron con Zorobabel fueron: Josué, Nehemías, Azarías, Raamías, Najamaní, Mardoqueo, Bilsán, Misperet, Bigvay, Nejún y Baná. El número de los israelitas fue el siguiente:

who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:

8 L os descendientes de Paros: dos mil ciento setenta y dos.

The children of Parosh, two thousand a hundred and seventy and two.

9 L os descendientes de Sefatías: trescientos setenta y dos.

The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.

10 L os descendientes de Araj: seiscientos cincuenta y dos.

The children of Arah, six hundred fifty and two.

11 L os descendientes de Pajat Moab, que fueron hijos de Josué y de Joab: dos mil ochocientos dieciocho.

The children of Pahath-moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred and eighteen.

12 L os descendientes de Elam: mil doscientos cincuenta y cuatro.

The children of Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.

13 L os descendientes de Zatu: ochocientos cuarenta y cinco.

The children of Zattu, eight hundred forty and five.

14 L os descendientes de Zacay: setecientos sesenta.

The children of Zaccai, seven hundred and threescore.

15 L os descendientes de Binúi: seiscientos cuarenta y ocho.

The children of Binnui, six hundred forty and eight.

16 L os descendientes de Bebay: seiscientos veintiocho.

The children of Bebai, six hundred twenty and eight.

17 L os descendientes de Azgad: dos mil seiscientos veintidós.

The children of Azgad, two thousand three hundred twenty and two.

18 L os descendientes de Adonicán: seiscientos sesenta y siete.

The children of Adonikam, six hundred threescore and seven.

19 L os descendientes de Bigvay: dos mil sesenta y siete.

The children of Bigvai, two thousand threescore and seven.

20 L os descendientes de Adín: seiscientos cincuenta y cinco.

The children of Adin, six hundred fifty and five.

21 L os descendientes de Ater: hijo de Ezequías, noventa y ocho.

The children of Ater, of Hezekiah, ninety and eight.

22 L os descendientes de Jasún: trescientos veintiocho.

The children of Hashum, three hundred twenty and eight.

23 L os descendientes de Besay: trescientos veinticuatro.

The children of Bezai, three hundred twenty and four.

24 L os descendientes de Jarif: ciento doce.

The children of Hariph, a hundred and twelve.

25 L os descendientes de Gabaón: noventa y cinco.

The children of Gibeon, ninety and five.

26 L os varones de Belén y de Netofa: ciento ochenta y ocho.

The men of Bethlehem and Netophah, a hundred fourscore and eight.

27 L os varones de Anatot: ciento veintiocho.

The men of Anathoth, a hundred twenty and eight.

28 L os varones de Bet Azmávet: cuarenta y dos.

The men of Beth-azmaveth, forty and two.

29 L os varones de Quiriat Yearín: Cafira y Berot, setecientos cuarenta y tres.

The men of Kiriath-jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred forty and three.

30 L os varones de Ramá y de Geba: seiscientos veintiuno.

The men of Ramah and Geba, six hundred twenty and one.

31 L os varones de Micmas: ciento veintidós.

The men of Michmas, a hundred and twenty and two.

32 L os varones de Betel y de Hai: ciento veintitrés.

The men of Beth-el and Ai, a hundred twenty and three.

33 L os varones del otro Nebo: cincuenta y dos.

The men of the other Nebo, fifty and two.

34 L os descendientes del otro Elam: mil doscientos cincuenta y cuatro.

The children of the other Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.

35 L os descendientes de Jarín: trescientos veinte.

The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.

36 L os descendientes de Jericó: trescientos cuarenta y cinco.

The children of Jericho, three hundred forty and five.

37 L os descendientes de Lod, Jadid y Onó: setecientos veintiuno.

The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred twenty and one.

38 L os descendientes de Sená: tres mil novecientos treinta.

The children of Senaah, three thousand nine hundred and thirty.

39 L os sacerdotes: Los descendientes de Jedaías, de la familia de Josué: novecientos setenta y tres.

The priests: The children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred seventy and three.

The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two.

41 L os descendientes de Pasjur: mil doscientos cuarenta y siete.

The children of Pashhur, a thousand two hundred forty and seven.

42 L os descendientes de Jarín: mil diecisiete.

The children of Harim, a thousand and seventeen.

43 L os levitas: Los descendientes de Josué y de Cadmiel, de la familia de Hodavías: setenta y cuatro.

The Levites: the children of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, of the children of Hodevah, seventy and four.

44 L os cantores: Los descendientes de Asaf: ciento cuarenta y ocho.

The singers: the children of Asaph, a hundred forty and eight.

45 L os porteros: Los descendientes de Salún, de Ater, de Talmón, de Acub, de Jatitá, y de Sobay: ciento treinta y ocho en total.

The porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, a hundred thirty and eight.

57 L os descendientes de los siervos de Salomón: Los descendientes de Sotay, de Soferet, de Perida,

The children of Solomon's servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Perida,

58 d e Jalá, de Darcón, de Gidel,

the children of Jaala, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,

59 d e Sefatías, de Jatil, de Poquéret Hasebayin, de Amón.

the children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the children of Amon.

60 T odos los sirvientes del templo y los descendientes de los siervos de Salomón: trescientos noventa y dos.

All the Nethinim, and the children of Solomon's servants, were three hundred ninety and two.

61 H ubo otros que también volvieron a Jerusalén, y que provenían de Tel Melaj, Tel Jarsá, Querub, Adón e Imer, pero que no pudieron demostrar su genealogía ni la de sus padres, ni si eran o no israelitas.

And these were they that went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer; but they could not show their fathers' houses, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel:

62 E ran descendientes de Delaía, de Tobías y de Necoda: seiscientos cuarenta y dos en total.

The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.

63 D e los sacerdotes: los hijos de Jabaías, de Cos y de Barzilay. Éste se casó con una de las hijas de Barzilay el galaadita, y tomó el nombre de la familia de ella.

And of the priests: the children of Hobaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.

64 É stos buscaron en vano el registro de sus genealogías, y como no lo hallaron, fueron excluidos del sacerdocio.

These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they deemed polluted and put from the priesthood.

65 E ntonces el gobernador les prohibió comer de las cosas sagradas hasta que hubiera un sacerdote que pudiera consultar con el Urim y el Tumim.

And the governor said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

66 E l total de la comunidad era de cuarenta y dos mil trescientas sesenta personas,

The whole assembly together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,

67 s in tomar en cuenta a los siervos, hombres y mujeres, que sumaban siete mil trescientos treinta y siete, entre los cuales había doscientos cuarenta y cinco cantores y cantoras.

besides their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.

68 L levaban setecientos treinta y seis caballos, doscientas cuarenta y cinco mulas;

Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;

69 c uatrocientos treinta y cinco camellos y seis mil setecientos veinte asnos.

their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

70 A lgunos jefes de las familias más importantes dieron sus ofrendas para la obra de reconstrucción. El gobernador entregó al tesoro mil dracmas de oro, cincuenta tazones y quinientas treinta vestiduras sacerdotales.

And some from among the heads of fathers' houses gave unto the work. The governor gave to the treasury a thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.

71 L os jefes de familia aportaron al tesoro ciento sesenta kilos de oro y mil doscientos diez kilos de plata.

And some of the heads of fathers' houses gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver.

72 E l resto del pueblo entregó ciento sesenta kilos de oro, mil cien kilos de plata y sesenta y siete vestiduras sacerdotales.

And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and threescore and seven priests' garments.

73 L os sacerdotes, los levitas, los porteros, los cantores, parte del pueblo, los sirvientes del templo, y el resto de los israelitas, habitaron sus respectivas ciudades. En el séptimo mes del año, todos los israelitas se habían establecido ya en sus ciudades.

So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities. And when the seventh month was come, the children of Israel were in their cities.
