1 F inalmente, Josafat descansó entre sus antepasados, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David. En su lugar reinó su hijo Jorán,

And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

2 c uyos hermanos e hijos de Josafat fueron Azarías, Yejiel, Zacarías, Azarías, Micael y Sefatías. Todos ellos eran hijos del rey Josafat de Judá,

And he had brethren, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

3 y recibieron de su padre muchos regalos de oro y plata, objetos preciosos y ciudades fortificadas en Judá, aunque el reino se lo cedió a Jorán, porque éste era el primogénito.

And their father gave them great gifts, of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram, because he was the first-born.

4 T an pronto como Jorán ascendió al trono de su padre y se afirmó en el poder, mató a filo de espada a todos sus hermanos, y también a algunos de los jefes de Israel.

Now when Jehoram was risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.

5 C omenzó a reinar cuando tenía treinta y dos años, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años.

Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

6 P ero siguió los pasos de los reyes de Israel, a la manera de la casa de Ajab, pues tuvo por mujer a la hija de Ajab y cometió mucha maldad a los ojos del Señor.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah.

7 P ero el Señor no quiso destruir la casa de David, por causa del pacto que había hecho con David y porque le había prometido mantener siempre encendida su lámpara y la de sus hijos.

Howbeit Jehovah would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children alway.

8 D urante el reinado de Jorán, los edomitas se rebelaron contra el dominio de Judá, y pusieron en el trono su propio rey.

In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

9 E ntonces Jorán marchó con sus jefes y con todos sus carros de guerra, y una noche atacó y derrotó a los edomitas que lo habían sitiado, y también a todos los comandantes de sus carros.

Then Jehoram passed over with his captains, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites that compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots.

10 A pesar de esto, Edom se liberó del dominio de Judá, hasta el día de hoy. Por ese mismo tiempo, Libna se liberó del dominio de Jorán, porque éste se apartó del Señor, el Dios de sus padres.

So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day: then did Libnah revolt at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken Jehovah, the God of his fathers.

11 A demás de esto, Jorán construyó lugares altos en los montes de Judá, con lo que hizo que los habitantes de Jerusalén se prostituyeran, lo mismo que los de Judá.

Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and made the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot, and led Judah astray.

12 P ero le llegó una carta del profeta Elías, la cual decía: «Así ha dicho el Señor, el Dios de David, tu padre: Puesto que no has seguido el ejemplo de Josafat, tu padre, ni el del rey Asa de Judá,

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

13 s ino que has imitado el mal ejemplo de los reyes de Israel y has hecho que Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén se prostituyan, como se prostituyó la casa de Ajab, y además has dado muerte a tus hermanos, a la familia de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú,

but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot, like as the house of Ahab did, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, who were better than thyself:

14 a hora el Señor te enviará una plaga mortal, y con ella herirá de muerte a tu pueblo, y a tus hijos y a tus mujeres, y a todo lo que tienes.

behold, Jehovah will smite with a great plague thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy substance;

15 A ti te castigará con muchas enfermedades. Tan persistente será tu mal, que hasta los intestinos se te saldrán.»

and thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.

16 Y así, el Señor suscitó contra Jorán la ira de los filisteos y de los árabes que estaban junto a los etíopes,

And Jehovah stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians that are beside the Ethiopians:

17 y todos ellos atacaron a Judá e invadieron su territorio; capturaron a sus hijos y a sus mujeres, y se apoderaron de todos los bienes que hallaron en el palacio real. Lo único que le quedó a Joacaz fue su hijo menor.

and they came up against Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

18 D espués de todo esto, el Señor le mandó una enfermedad incurable en los intestinos.

And after all this Jehovah smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

19 T ranscurrió mucho tiempo, y al cabo de dos años la enfermedad hizo que los intestinos se le salieran, por lo que murió de una enfermedad muy penosa. No se prendió ninguna hoguera en su honor, como se había hecho con sus padres.

And it came to pass, in process of time, at the end of two years, that his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

20 J orán tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años. Cuando murió, nadie lo echó de menos. Fue sepultado en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros reservados para los reyes.

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years: and he departed without being desired; and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
