1 » Cuando todo esto te haya sobrevenido, es decir, la bendición y la maldición que he puesto ante ti, si estando en medio de todas las naciones a las que el Señor tu Dios te haya arrojado te arrepientes

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither Jehovah thy God hath driven thee,

2 y con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma te vuelves al Señor tu Dios, lo mismo que tus hijos, y prestas atención a su voz conforme a todo lo que hoy te mando cumplir,

and shalt return unto Jehovah thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul;

3 e ntonces el Señor tu Dios hará volver a tus cautivos, y tendrá misericordia de ti, y volverá a recogerte de entre todos los pueblos por donde te haya esparcido.

that then Jehovah thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the peoples, whither Jehovah thy God hath scattered thee.

4 A un cuando tus desterrados se encuentren en los lugares más remotos que hay debajo del cielo, de allí te tomará y te recogerá el Señor tu Dios.

If any of thine outcasts be in the uttermost parts of heaven, from thence will Jehovah thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:

5 » El Señor tu Dios te hará volver a la tierra que tus padres recibieron en propiedad, y será tuya; y te tratará con bondad y te multiplicará más que a tus padres.

and Jehovah thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

6 » El Señor tu Dios circuncidará tu corazón, y el corazón de tu descendencia, para que lo ames con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, y tengas vida.

And Jehovah thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

7 » El Señor tu Dios pondrá todas estas maldiciones sobre tus enemigos, y sobre los que te odiaban y te perseguían.

And Jehovah thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, that persecuted thee.

8 Y tú volverás, y escucharás la voz del Señor, y pondrás por obra todos los mandamientos que hoy te ordeno cumplir.

And thou shalt return and obey the voice of Jehovah, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

9 » El Señor tu Dios te hará prosperar en todo lo que hagas con tus manos, y multiplicará el fruto de tu vientre, el fruto de tu bestia, y el fruto de tu tierra. Sí, el Señor volverá a solazarse contigo para bien, tal y como se solazó con tus padres,

And Jehovah thy God will make thee plenteous in all the work of thy hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, for good: for Jehovah will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers;

10 s iempre y cuando obedezcas la voz del Señor tu Dios y cumplas los mandamientos y los estatutos escritos en este libro de la ley; y siempre y cuando te vuelvas al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.

if thou shalt obey the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if thou turn unto Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

11 » Este mandamiento que hoy te ordeno cumplir no es demasiado difícil para ti, ni se halla lejos.

For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not too hard for thee, neither is it far off.

12 N o está en el cielo, como para que digas: “¿Quién subirá por nosotros al cielo, y nos lo traerá, para que lo escuchemos y lo cumplamos?”

It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?

13 T ampoco está al otro lado del mar, como para que digas: “¿Quién cruzará el mar por nosotros, y nos lo traerá, para que lo escuchemos y lo cumplamos?”

Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?

14 A decir verdad, la palabra está muy cerca de ti: está en tu boca y en tu corazón, para que la cumplas.

But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

15 » Fíjate bien: hoy he puesto delante de ti la vida y el bien, la muerte y el mal.

See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

16 L o que yo te mando hoy es que ames al Señor tu Dios, que vayas por sus caminos, y que cumplas sus mandamientos, sus estatutos y sus decretos, para que vivas y seas multiplicado, y para que el Señor tu Dios te bendiga en la tierra de la cual vas a tomar posesión.

in that I command thee this day to love Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that thou mayest live and multiply, and that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in the land whither thou goest in to possess it.

17 » Pero si apartas tu corazón y no prestas atención, y te dejas llevar, y te inclinas ante dioses ajenos y les sirves,

But if thy heart turn away, and thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

18 e n este día yo les hago saber que ustedes serán destruidos por completo, y que no prolongarán sus días en la tierra al otro lado del Jordán, de la cual van a tomar posesión.

I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish; ye shall not prolong your days in the land, whither thou passest over the Jordan to go in to possess it.

19 H oy pongo a los cielos y a la tierra por testigos contra ustedes, de que he puesto ante ustedes la vida y la muerte, la bendición y la maldición. Escoge, pues, la vida, para que tú y tu descendencia vivan;

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed;

20 y para que ames al Señor tu Dios, y atiendas a su voz, y lo sigas, pues él es para ti vida y prolongación de tus días. Así habitarás la tierra que el Señor juró a tus padres, Abrahán, Isaac y Jacob, que les daría a ustedes.»

to love Jehovah thy God, to obey his voice, and to cleave unto him; for he is thy life, and the length of thy days; that thou mayest dwell in the land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
