1 T odo Israel se reunió en torno a David en Hebrón, para decirle: «Mira, nosotros somos carne de tu carne.

Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

2 I ncluso antes de ahora, cuando Saúl era rey, tú eras el que guiaba a Israel en sus guerras, y quien lo volvía a traer. Además, el Señor tu Dios te ha dicho: “Tú apacentarás a mi pueblo Israel, y serás el príncipe de Israel, mi pueblo.”»

In times past, even when Saul was king, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and Jehovah thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt be shepherd of my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over my people Israel.

3 T ambién todos los ancianos de Israel fueron a ver al rey en Hebrón, y David hizo un pacto con ellos delante del Señor, y ellos ungieron a David como rey de Israel, según la palabra del Señor comunicada por medio de Samuel. David toma la fortaleza de Sión

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of Jehovah by Samuel.

4 D avid se fue entonces a Jerusalén, que también es Jebús, con todos los israelitas. En aquel tiempo los jebuseos habitaban en esa región,

And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.

5 y los habitantes de Jebús le dijeron a David: «Aquí no entrarás.» Sin embargo, David tomó la fortaleza de Sión, que es la ciudad de David.

And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.

6 A demás, David había dicho: «El primero que derrote a los jebuseos será capitán y jefe.» Y Joab hijo de Seruyá fue el primero en atacar, y fue nombrado jefe.

And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.

7 D avid habitó en la fortaleza, y por esto fue llamada «la Ciudad de David».

And David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.

8 T ambién edificó los alrededores de la ciudad, desde Milo hasta la muralla, y Joab reconstruyó el resto de la ciudad.

And he built the city round about, from Millo even round about; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

9 Y David avanzaba y se hacía fuerte, y el Señor de los ejércitos estaba con él. Los valientes de David

And David waxed greater and greater; for Jehovah of hosts was with him.

10 É stos son los principales guerreros de David, que junto con todo Israel le ayudaron en su reino para hacerlo su rey, conforme a la palabra del Señor.

Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of Jehovah concerning Israel.

11 Y éste es el número de los guerreros que David tuvo: Yasobeán hijo de Jacmoní, caudillo de los treinta, que en cierta ocasión blandió su lanza contra trescientos y los mató.

And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them at one time.

12 L e seguía Eleazar hijo de Dodo, el ajojita, que era de los tres más valientes.

And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.

13 E leazar estuvo con David en Pasdamín, combatiendo con él a los filisteos. Allí había una parcela sembrada de cebada. Cuando el pueblo huía de los filisteos,

He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

14 e llos se pusieron en medio de la parcela y la defendieron, y vencieron a los filisteos porque el Señor los favoreció con una gran victoria.

And they stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and Jehovah saved them by a great victory.

15 T res de los treinta principales bajaron a la peña a David, a la cueva de Adulán, mientras los filisteos estaban acampando en el valle de Refayin.

And three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

16 E n aquel tiempo David se encontraba en la fortaleza; en Belén había entonces una guarnición de los filisteos.

And David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.

17 D avid tuvo sed y exclamó: «¡Cómo quisiera beber un poco de agua del pozo que está a la entrada de Belén!»

And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!

18 A quellos tres irrumpieron en el campamento de los filisteos y sacaron agua del pozo que está a la entrada de Belén, y se la llevaron a David, pero él no la quiso beber; al contrario, la derramó en honor del Señor y dijo:

And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto Jehovah,

19 « ¡Dios me libre de hacer esto! ¿Cómo podría yo beber la sangre y la vida de estos hombres, que por traerme agua han puesto en peligro su vida?» Y no la quiso beber. Tal fue la hazaña de esos tres valientes.

and said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

20 E l jefe de los treinta era Abisay, hermano de Joab, que blandió su lanza contra trescientos enemigos, y los mató, con lo que se hizo famoso junto con los tres.

And Abishai, the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them, and had a name among the three.

21 A unque fue el más destacado de los treinta, y era su jefe, nunca igualó a los tres primeros.

Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.

22 B enaías hijo de Joyadá era hijo de un valiente de Cabsel, que realizó grandes hazañas: Venció a dos moabitas muy aguerridos, y durante el invierno mató a un león en medio de un foso,

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he slew the two sons of Ariel of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.

23 y con sus propias manos venció a un egipcio de cinco codos de estatura. El egipcio blandía una lanza semejante al rodillo de un tejedor, pero Benaías se enfrentó a él con un palo, le arrebató de la mano la lanza, y con su misma lanza lo mató.

And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

24 P or estos hechos de Benaías hijo de Joyadá, fue incluido entre los tres valientes,

These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had a name among the three mighty men.

25 y aunque fue el más distinguido de los treinta, nunca igualó a los tres primeros. A éste, David lo incluyó en su guardia personal.

Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.

26 L os guerreros más valientes eran: Asael, que era hermano de Joab; Eljanán hijo de Dodo, el de Belén;

Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem,

27 S amot el harodita, Heles el pelonita,

Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

28 I ra hijo de Iques, el tecoíta; Abiezer el anatotita,

Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,

29 S ibecay el husatita, Ilay el ajojita,

Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

30 M aray el netofatita, Jéled hijo de Baná, el netofatita;

Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,

31 I tay hijo de Ribay, el benjaminita de Gabaa; Benaías el piratonita,

Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,

32 J uray, el del río Gaas; Abiel el arbatita,

Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,

33 A zmavet el barhumita, Elijaba el salbonita,

Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,

34 l os hijos de Hasem el gizonita, Jonatán hijo de Sage, el ararita;

the sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shagee the Hararite,

35 A jían hijo de Sacar, el ararita; Elifal hijo de Ur,

Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,

36 J éfer el mequeratita, Ajías el pelonita,

Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,

37 H ezro el carmelita, Naray hijo de Ezbay,

Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,

38 J oel, el hermano de Natán; Mibejar hijo de Hagrí,

Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Hagri,

39 S elec el amonita, Najaray el berotita, que era escudero de Joab hijo de Seruyá;

Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armorbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,

40 I ra el itrita, Gareb el itrita,

Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

41 U rías el hitita, Zabad hijo de Ajlay,

Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,

42 A dina hijo de Siza el rubenita, que era príncipe de los rubenitas, más los treinta que lo acompañaban;

Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,

43 J anán hijo de Macá, Josafat el mitnita,

Hanan the son of Maacah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,

44 U zías el astarotita, Samá y Yeguiel, hijos de Jotán el aroerita;

Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite,

45 J ediael hijo de Simerí, Yojá el tizita, hermano de Jediael;

Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,

46 E liel el mahavita, Yerebay y Josavía, hijos de Elnaam; Itma el moabita,

Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,

47 E liel, Obed y Jasiel el mesobaíta.

Eliel, and Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite.
