Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow-worker,

2 a la amada hermana Apia, a Arquipo, nuestro compañero de milicia, y a la iglesia que está en tu casa:

and to Apphia our sister, and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the church in thy house:

3 R eciban ustedes gracia y paz de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo. El amor y la fe de Filemón

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 D oy gracias a mi Dios siempre que me acuerdo de ti en mis oraciones,

I thank my God always, making mention of thee in my prayers,

5 p orque me he enterado del amor y de la fe que tienes hacia el Señor Jesús, y para con todos los santos;

hearing of thy love, and of the faith which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all the saints;

6 y pido que la participación de tu fe sea eficaz en el conocimiento de todo el bien que está en ustedes por Cristo Jesús.

that the fellowship of thy faith may become effectual, in the knowledge of every good thing which is in you, unto Christ.

7 H ermano, tenemos gran gozo y consolación en tu amor, porque por ti han sido reconfortados los corazones de los santos. Pablo intercede por Onésimo

For I had much joy and comfort in thy love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.

8 P or eso, y aunque tengo mucha libertad en Cristo para mandarte lo que conviene,

Wherefore, though I have all boldness in Christ to enjoin thee that which is befitting,

9 m ás bien te ruego por amor. Yo, Pablo, que ya soy anciano, y además prisionero de Jesucristo,

yet for love's sake I rather beseech, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now a prisoner also of Christ Jesus:

10 t e ruego por mi hijo Onésimo, que es el fruto de mis prisiones.

I beseech thee for my child, whom I have begotten in my bonds, Onesimus,

11 E n otro tiempo, él te resultaba inútil, pero ahora nos es útil a ti y a mí.

who once was unprofitable to thee, but now is profitable to thee and to me:

12 A hora vuelvo a enviártelo, y te pido recibirlo como si me recibieras a mí mismo.

whom I have sent back to thee in his own person, that is, my very heart:

13 Y o quisiera retenerlo conmigo, para que me sirviera en mis prisiones por el evangelio, en lugar tuyo;

whom I would fain have kept with me, that in thy behalf he might minister unto me in the bonds of the gospel:

14 p ero no he querido hacer nada sin tu consentimiento, para que tu favor no te resulte una imposición, sino que sea un acto voluntario.

but without thy mind I would do nothing; that thy goodness should not be as of necessity, but of free will.

15 T al vez para esto se apartó de ti por algún tiempo; para que lo recibieras para siempre,

For perhaps he was therefore parted from thee for a season, that thou shouldest have him for ever;

16 n o ya como a un esclavo, sino como a alguien más que un esclavo, como a un hermano amado, de manera especial para mí, pero más aún para ti, tanto en la carne como en el Señor.

no longer as a servant, but more than a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much rather to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

17 A sí que, si me consideras tu compañero, recíbelo como si fuera yo mismo.

If then thou countest me a partner, receive him as myself.

18 Y si algún daño te causó, o si te debe algo, ponlo a mi cuenta.

But if he hath wronged the at all, or oweth thee aught, put that to mine account;

19 Y o, Pablo, escribo esto de mi puño y letra; yo te lo pagaré; por no decir que tú mismo estás en deuda conmigo.

I Paul write it with mine own hand, I will repay it: that I say not unto thee that thou owest to me even thine own self besides.

20 A sí es, hermano; permíteme sacar algún provecho de ti en el Señor; reconforta mi corazón en el Señor.

Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my heart in Christ.

21 T e he escrito porque confío en tu obediencia, y porque sé que harás aun más de lo que te pido.

Having confidence in thine obedience I write unto thee, knowing that thou wilt do even beyond what I say.

22 P repárame también alojamiento, pues espero que por las oraciones de ustedes se les concederá verme. Salutaciones y bendición final

But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted unto you.

23 T e saludan Epafras, que es mi compañero de prisiones por Cristo Jesús,

Epaphras, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus, saluteth thee;

24 y mis colaboradores Marcos, Aristarco, Demas y Lucas.

and so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-workers.

25 Q ue la gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con su espíritu. Amén.
