1 D avid dedicó este cántico al Señor cuando el Señor lo libró de Saúl y de todos sus enemigos.

And David spake unto Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

2 É stas son sus palabras: «Señor, tú eres mi roca y mi fortaleza ¡eres mi libertador!

and he said, Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, even mine;

3 D ios mío, tú eres mi fuerza; ¡en ti confío! Eres mi escudo, mi poderosa salvación, ¡mi alto refugio! Salvador mío, tú me salvas de la violencia.

God, my rock, in him will I take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge; My saviour, thou savest me from violence.

4 Y o te invoco, Señor, porque sólo tú eres digno de alabanza; ¡tú me salvas de mis adversarios!

I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

5 » Los lazos de la muerte me rodearon; ¡me arrolló un torrente de perversidad!

For the waves of death compassed me; The floods of ungodliness made me afraid:

6 L os lazos del sepulcro me rodearon; ¡me vi ante las trampas de la muerte!

The cords of Sheol were round about me; The snares of death came upon me.

7 P ero en mi angustia, Señor, a ti clamé; a ti, mi Dios, pedi ayuda, y desde tu templo me escuchaste; ¡mis gemidos llegaron a tus oídos!

In my distress I called upon Jehovah; Yea, I called unto my God: And he heard my voice out of his temple, And my cry came into his ears.

8 » La tierra tembló y se estremeció; los cimientos de los cielos se cimbraron; ¡se sacudieron por la indignación del Señor!

Then the earth shook and trembled, The foundations of heaven quaked And were shaken, because he was wroth.

9 H umo salía de su nariz y de su boca brotaba fuego destructor; ¡su furor inflamaba los carbones!

There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, And fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled by it.

10 I nclinó los cielos, y bajó; a sus pies había densas tinieblas.

He bowed the heavens also, and came down; And thick darkness was under his feet.

11 M ontó sobre un querubín, y voló; ¡voló sobre las alas del viento!

And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly; Yea, he was seen upon the wings of the wind.

12 S e envolvió en un manto de sombras; entre grises nubes, cargadas de agua.

And he made darkness pavilions round about him, Gathering of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

13 ¡ De su deslumbrante presencia salieron ardientes ascuas que cruzaron las nubes!

At the brightness before him Coals of fire were kindled.

14 » El Señor lanzó un poderoso trueno; el Altísimo dejó escuchar su voz.

Jehovah thundered from heaven, And the Most High uttered his voice.

15 L anzó sus flechas, y los dispersó; ¡lanzó relámpagos, y acabó con ellos!

And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; Lightning, and discomfited them.

16 E l Señor dejó oír su reprensión, ¡y a la vista quedó el fondo de las aguas! De su nariz salió un intenso soplo, ¡y a la vista quedaron los cimientos del mundo!

Then the channels of the sea appeared, The foundations of the world were laid bare, By the rebuke of Jehovah, At the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

17 » Desde lo alto el Señor me tendió la mano y me rescató de las aguas tumultuosas;

He sent from on high, he took me; He drew me out of many waters;

18 ¡ me libró de los poderosos enemigos que me odiaban y eran más fuertes que yo!

He delivered me from my strong enemy, From them that hated me; for they were too mighty for me.

19 M e atacaron en el día de mi desgracia, pero el Señor me dio su apoyo;

They came upon me in the day of my calamity; But Jehovah was my stay.

20 m e llevó a un terreno espacioso, y me salvó, porque se agradó de mí.

He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because he delighted in me.

21 E l Señor me premió porque soy justo; ¡porque mis manos están limpias de culpa!

Jehovah rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

22 » Yo he seguido los caminos del Señor, y ningún mal he cometido contra mi Dios.

For I have kept the ways of Jehovah, And have not wickedly departed from my God.

23 T engo presentes todos sus decretos, y no me he apartado de sus estatutos.

For all his ordinances were before me; And as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.

24 C on él me he conducido rectamente, y me he alejado de la maldad;

I was also perfect toward him; And I kept myself from mine iniquity.

25 e l Señor ha visto la limpieza de mis manos, y por eso ha recompensado mi justicia.

Therefore hath Jehovah recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness in his eyesight.

26 » Señor, tú eres fiel con el que es fiel, e intachable con el que es intachable.

With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; With the perfect man thou wilt show thyself perfect;

27 J uegas limpio con quien juega limpio, pero al tramposo le ganas en astucia.

With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; And with the perverse thou wilt show thyself froward.

28 T ú salvas a los humildes, pero humillas a los soberbios.

And the afflicted people thou wilt save; But thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.

29 S eñor, mi Dios, tú mantienes mi lámpara encendida; ¡tú eres la luz de mis tinieblas!

For thou art my lamp, O Jehovah; And Jehovah will lighten my darkness.

30 ¡ Con tu ayuda, mi Dios, puedo vencer ejércitos y derribar murallas!

For by thee I run upon a troop; By my God do I leap over a wall.

31 » El camino de Dios es perfecto; la palabra del Señor, acrisolada; Dios es el escudo de los que en él confían.

As for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.

32 ¡ Aparte del Señor, no hay otro Dios! ¡Aparte de nuestro Dios, no hay otra Roca!

For who is God, save Jehovah? And who is a rock, save our God?

33 D ios es quien me infunde fuerzas; Dios es quien endereza mi camino;

God is my strong fortress; And he guideth the perfect in his way.

34 D ios es quien me aligera los pies, y me hace correr como un venado. Dios es quien me afirma en las alturas;

He maketh his feet like hinds' feet, And setteth me upon my high places.

35 D ios adiestra mis manos para el combate, y me da fuerzas para tensar el arco de bronce.

He teacheth my hands to war, So that mine arms do bend a bow of brass.

36 » Tú me diste el escudo de tu salvación, y con tu bondad me engrandeciste.

Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation; And thy gentleness hath made me great.

37 M e pusiste sobre un terreno espacioso, para que mis pies no resbalaran.

Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; And my feet have not slipped.

38 A sí pude perseguir y alcanzar a mis adversarios, ¡y no volví hasta haberlos exterminado!

I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; Neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

39 L os herí, y ya no se levantaron; ¡quedaron tendidos debajo de mis pies!

And I have consumed them, and smitten them through, so that they cannot arise: Yea, they are fallen under my feet.

40 » Tú me infundiste fuerzas para la batalla, para vencer y humillar a mis adversarios.

For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle; Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

41 T ú los hiciste ponerse en retirada, y así acabé con los que me odiaban.

Thou hast also made mine enemies turn their backs unto me, That I might cut off them that hate me.

42 C lamaron a ti, Señor, pero no los atendiste; ¡no hubo nadie que los ayudara!

They looked, but there was none to save; Even unto Jehovah, but he answered them not.

43 L os hice polvo, los deshice como a terrones; ¡los pisoteé como al lodo en las calles!

Then did I beat them small as the dust of the earth, I did crush them as the mire of the streets, and did spread them abroad.

44 T ú me libraste de un pueblo rebelde, y me pusiste al frente de las naciones. Gente que yo no conocía, viene a servirme;

Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people; Thou hast kept me to be the head of the nations: A people whom I have not known shall serve me.

45 g ente extraña me rinde homenaje; ¡apenas me escuchan, me obedecen!

The foreigners shall submit themselves unto me: As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me.

46 ¡ Gente de otros pueblos se llena de miedo y sale temblando de sus escondites!

The foreigners shall fade away, And shall come trembling out of their close places.

47 » ¡Viva el Señor! ¡Bendita sea mi roca! ¡Exaltado sea el Dios de mi salvación!

Jehovah liveth; And blessed be my rock; And exalted be God, the rock of my salvation,

48 E s el Dios que vindica mis agravios y somete a las naciones bajo mis pies.

Even the God that executeth vengeance for me, And that bringeth down peoples under me,

49 E s el Dios que me libra de mis adversarios, que me eleva por encima de mis oponentes, ¡que me pone a salvo de los violentos!

And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: Yea, thou liftest me up above them that rise up against me; Thou deliverest me from the violent man.

50 P or eso alabo al Señor entre los pueblos, y canto salmos a su nombre.

Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah, among the nations, And will sing praises unto thy name.

51 E l Señor da la victoria al rey; siempre es misericordioso con su ungido, con David y con sus descendientes.»

Great deliverance giveth he to his king, And showeth lovingkindness to his anointed, To David and to his seed, for evermore.
