1 L a respuesta amable calma la ira; la respuesta grosera aumenta el enojo.

A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger.

2 L a lengua sabia adorna el conocimiento; la boca de los necios profiere tonterías.

The tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright; But the mouth of fools poureth out folly.

3 L os ojos del Señor están en todas partes, y observan a los malos y a los buenos.

The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, Keeping watch upon the evil and the good.

4 L a lengua apacible es árbol de vida; la lengua perversa daña el espíritu.

A gentle tongue is a tree of life; But perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit.

5 E l necio desprecia la corrección de su padre; el que la acata, alcanza la prudencia.

A fool despiseth his father's correction; But he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.

6 E n la casa del justo siempre hay abundancia; en las ganancias del impío siempre hay problemas.

In the house of the righteous is much treasure; But in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

7 L a boca de los sabios imparte conocimientos; el corazón de los necios hace todo lo contrario.

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; But the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

8 E l Señor aborrece las ofrendas de los impíos, pero recibe con agrado la oración de los rectos.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

9 E l Señor aborrece el camino del impío, pero ama al que va en pos de la justicia.

The way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

10 P ara el descarriado, la corrección es molesta; pero aborrecerla conduce a la muerte.

There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; And he that hateth reproof shall die.

11 A nte el Señor están la muerte y el sepulcro, ¡y también el corazón de los seres humanos!

Sheol and Abaddon are before Jehovah: How much more then the hearts of the children of men!

12 A l burlón no le gusta que lo reprendan, ni tampoco se junta con los sabios.

A scoffer loveth not to be reproved; He will not go unto the wise.

13 U n corazón alegre le hace bien al rostro, pero las penas del corazón abaten el ánimo.

A glad heart maketh a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

14 E l corazón entendido tiene hambre de saber; la boca del necio se alimenta de tonterías.

The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.

15 S i estás triste, todos los días son malos; si estás feliz, todos los días son de fiesta.

All the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.

16 E s mejor lo poco, con el temor del Señor, que lo mucho, con muchos problemas.

Better is little, with the fear of Jehovah, Than great treasure and trouble therewith.

17 E s mejor comer legumbres con amor, que comer carne de res con odio.

Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, Than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

18 E l hombre iracundo provoca conflictos; el que se controla, aplaca las rencillas.

A wrathful man stirreth up contention; But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

19 E l perezoso va por una senda espinosa; el hombre recto camina como en una calzada.

The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; But the path of the upright is made a highway.

20 E l hijo sabio hace feliz a su padre; el hijo necio hace infeliz a su madre.

A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish man despiseth his mother.

21 A l necio, ser necio lo hace feliz, pero el que es entendido corrige sus pasos.

Folly is joy to him that is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding maketh straight his going.

22 L os planes fracasan por falta de consejos, pero triunfan cuando hay muchos consejeros.

Where there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed; But in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

23 E l hombre es feliz cuando sabe responder; ¡y qué buena es una respuesta oportuna!

A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; And a word in due season, how good is it!

24 P ara el entendido, la vida es un camino ascendente que lo aleja de caer en el sepulcro.

To the wise the way of life goeth upward, That he may depart from Sheol beneath.

25 E l Señor destruye la casa de los soberbios, pero afirma el patrimonio de la viuda.

Jehovah will root up the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow.

26 A l Señor le repugnan los planes malvados, pero las palabras amables le son aceptables.

Evil devices are an abomination to Jehovah; But pleasant words are pure.

27 E l que es ambicioso trastorna su casa, pero el que desprecia el soborno vivirá.

He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; But he that hateth bribes shall live.

28 E l justo piensa bien, antes de responder; la boca de los impíos profiere malas palabras.

The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

29 E l Señor está lejos de los impíos, pero oye la oración de los justos.

Jehovah is far from the wicked; But he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

30 L a luz de los ojos alegra el corazón, y las buenas noticias fortalecen los huesos.

The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; And good tidings make the bones fat.

31 E l que presta oído a las advertencias de vida, convivirá con los sabios.

The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life Shall abide among the wise.

32 D espreciar la disciplina es no apreciarse uno mismo; obedecer la corrección es poseer entendimiento.

He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; But he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.

33 E l temor del Señor corrige y da sabiduría; antes que honra, humildad.

The fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom; And before honor goeth humility.
