1 L a palabra del Señor vino a Jehú hijo de Jananí, y le dio el siguiente mensaje contra Basá:

And the word of Jehovah came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

2 « Yo te levanté del suelo y te puse como jefe de Israel, mi pueblo, pero tú has ido tras los malos pasos de Jeroboán; has hecho pecar a mi pueblo, y con tus pecados has provocado mi enojo.

Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

3 P or eso, voy a acabar con tu descendencia y con toda tu familia. Voy a acabar con tu dinastía, como acabé con la de Jeroboán hijo de Nabat.

behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

4 A cualquiera de tus hijos que muera en la ciudad, lo devorarán los perros; y al que muera en el campo lo devorarán las aves de rapiña.»

Him that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the field shall the birds of the heavens eat.

5 T odos los hechos de Basá, y su gran poder, se hallan registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel.

Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

6 Y Basá fue a reunirse con sus antepasados y fue sepultado en Tirsa. En su lugar reinó su hijo Elá.

And Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah; and Elah his son reigned in his stead.

7 P ero el mensaje que el Señor le envió a Basá por medio de Jehú hijo de Jananí alcanzó a toda su familia, por todo lo malo que hizo a los ojos del Señor, lo cual provocó su enojo. Por eso destruyó a su familia como lo hizo con la familia de Jeroboán. Reinado de Elá

And moreover by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of Jehovah against Baasha, and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he smote him.

8 C uando Asa tenía veintiséis años de reinar sobre Judá, Elá hijo de Basá comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó en Tirsa dos años.

In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, and reigned two years.

9 P ero Zimri, que comandaba la mitad de sus carros de combate, conspiró contra él. Un día, mientras Elá estaba en Tirsa, bebiendo hasta emborracharse en casa de su mayordomo Arsa,

And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah:

10 Z imri llegó e hirió de muerte a Elá, y comenzó a reinar en su lugar. Era el año veintisiete del reinado de Asa sobre Judá.

and Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.

11 E n cuanto Zimri ocupó el trono de Israel, mandó matar a todos los descendientes de Basá, sin dejar con vida uno solo de sus parientes y amigos.

And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he smote all the house of Baasha: he left him not a single man-child, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

12 A sí fue como Zimri exterminó a la familia de Basá, con lo que se cumplió la palabra del Señor contra él, por medio del profeta Jehú.

Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet,

13 É se fue el pago que recibieron por los pecados de Basá y de su hijo Elá, pues también hicieron pecar a Israel, con lo que provocaron el enojo del Señor, Dios de Israel.

for all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, which they sinned, and wherewith they made Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.

14 T odos los hechos de Elá se hallan registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel. Reinado de Zimri

Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

15 C uando Asa llevaba veintisiete años de reinar sobre Judá, Zimri comenzó a reinar en Tirsa, pero solamente reinó siete días. Y es que cuando el pueblo, que estaba acampando a las afueras de Guibetón, ciudad de los filisteos, para atacarla,

In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah did Zimri reign seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.

16 s e enteró de que Zimri había conspirado contra el rey y le había dado muerte, ese mismo día proclamó rey a Omri, que era general del ejército y estaba en el campo de batalla.

And the people that were encamped heard say, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also smitten the king: wherefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the host, king over Israel that day in the camp.

17 E ntonces Omri y todo el ejército de Israel dejaron de atacar a Gibetón y fueron a sitiar a Tirsa.

And Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.

18 Y cuando Zimri vio que el ejército israelita había conquistado la ciudad, fue a refugiarse en el palacio real y le prendió fuego estando él adentro. Así murió este hombre,

And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the castle of the king's house, and burnt the king's house over him with fire, and died,

19 q ue había hecho lo malo a los ojos del Señor, y seguido el mal ejemplo de Jeroboán, con lo que hizo pecar a Israel.

for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin.

20 T odos los hechos de Zimri, y su conspiración contra el rey, se hallan registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel. Reinado de Omri

Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he wrought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

21 P ero el pueblo de Israel se dividió, porque una parte de ellos quería que el rey fuera Tibni hijo de Ginat, mientras que la otra parte prefería a Omri.

Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and half followed Omri.

22 L os que apoyaban a Omri vencieron a los partidarios de Tibni, y Tibni murió y Omri ascendió al trono.

But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned.

23 C omenzó a reinar sobre Israel cuando el rey Asa de Judá llevaba treinta y un años de reinar sobre Judá, y reinó durante doce años, seis de los cuales reinó en Tirsa.

In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, and reigned twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah.

24 A Semer, Omri le compró el monte de Samaria a cambio de sesenta y seis kilos de plata, y allí en ese monte edificó la ciudad de Samaria, a la que llamó así en recuerdo de Semer, el dueño de ese monte.

And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver; and he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill, Samaria.

25 P ero Omri hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor. Su pecado fue peor que el de los reyes anteriores,

And Omri did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and dealt wickedly above all that were before him.

26 p ues siguió los malos pasos de Jeroboán hijo de Nabat e hizo pecar al pueblo de Israel, pues con sus ídolos provocó el enojo del Señor, Dios de Israel.

For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins wherewith he made Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.

27 T odos los hechos de Omri, y sus hazañas militares, se hallan registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel.

Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he showed, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

28 Y Omri fue a reunirse con sus antepasados, y fue sepultado en Samaria. En su lugar reinó su hijo Ajab. Reinado de Ajab

So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son reigned in his stead.

29 A jab hijo de Omri comenzó a reinar sobre Israel cuando el rey Asa tenía treinta y ocho años de reinar sobre Judá.

And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years.

30 A jab reinó veintidós años sobre Israel en Samaria, pero a los ojos del Señor sus hechos fueron peores que los de todos los que reinaron antes de él.

And Ahab the son of Omri did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah above all that were before him.

31 S e le hizo fácil seguir los malos pasos de Jeroboán hijo de Nabat y tomar por esposa a Jezabel, la hija del rey Etbaal de Sidón; además, adoró y sirvió a Baal,

And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

32 y hasta le construyó un altar y le dedicó un templo en Samaria.

And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

33 A demás, hizo una imagen de Asera, con lo que su maldad superó a la de los reyes anteriores a él y provocó la ira del Señor, Dios de Israel.

And Ahab made the Asherah; and Ahab did yet more to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

34 E n ese tiempo, Jiel de Betel reconstruyó la ciudad de Jericó. El precio que pagó por echar los cimientos fue la vida de Abirán, su hijo primogénito, y el precio que pagó por ponerle portones a la ciudad fue la vida de Segub, su hijo menor. Así se cumplió lo que el Señor había dicho por medio de Josué hijo de Nun.

In his days did Hiel the Beth-elite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof with the loss of Abiram his first-born, and set up the gates thereof with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.
