1 Б о Закон, мавши тільки тінь майбутнього добра, а не самий образ речей, тими самими жертвами, що завжди щороку приносяться, не може ніколи вдосконалити тих, хто приступає.

For the law having a shadow of the good things to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect them that draw nigh.

2 І накше вони перестали б приноситись, бо ті, хто служить, очищені раз, уже б не мали жадної свідомости гріхів.

Else would they not have ceased to be offered? because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins.

3 А ле в них спомин про гріхи буває щороку,

But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance made of sins year by year.

4 б о тож неможливе, щоб кров биків та козлів здіймала гріхи!

For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

5 Т ому то, входячи в світ, Він говорить: Жертви й приношення Ти не схотів, але тіло Мені приготував.

Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, But a body didst thou prepare for me;

6 Ц ілопалення й жертви покутної Ти не жадав.

In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hadst no pleasure:

7 Т оді Я сказав: Ось іду, в звої книжки про Мене написано, щоб волю чинити Твою, Боже!

Then said I, Lo, I am come (In the roll of the book it is written of me) To do thy will, O God.

8 В ін вище сказав, що жертви й приносу, та цілопалення й жертви покутної, які за Законом приносяться, Ти не жадав і Собі не вподобав.

Saying above, Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein (the which are offered according to the law),

9 П отому сказав: Ось іду, щоб волю Твою чинити, Боже. Відміняє Він перше, щоб друге поставити.

then hath he said, Lo, I am come to do thy will. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

10 У цій волі ми освячені жертвоприношенням тіла Ісуса Христа один раз.

By which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 І кожен священик щоденно стоїть, служачи, і часто приносить жертви ті самі, що ніколи не можуть зняти гріхів.

And every priest indeed standeth day by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins:

12 А Він за гріхи світу приніс жертву один раз, і назавжди по Божій правиці засів,

but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 д алі чекаючи, аж вороги Його будуть покладені за підніжка Його ніг.

henceforth expecting till his enemies be made the footstool of his feet.

14 Б о жертвоприношенням одним вдосконалив Він тих, хто освячується.

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

15 С відкує ж і Дух Святий нам, як говорить:

And the Holy Spirit also beareth witness to us; for after he hath said,

16 О це заповіт, що його по цих днях встановляю Я з ними, говорить Господь, Закони вої Я дам в їхні серця, і в їхніх думках напишу їх.

This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, saith the Lord: I will put my laws on their heart, And upon their mind also will I write them; then saith he,

17 А їхніх гріхів та несправедливостей їхніх Я більш не згадаю!

And their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

18 А де їхнє відпущення, там нема вже жертвоприношення за гріхи.

Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

19 О тож, браття, ми маємо відвагу входити до святині кров'ю Ісусовою,

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

20 н овою й живою дорогою, яку нам обновив Він через завісу, цебто через тіло Своє,

by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

21 м аємо й Великого Священика над домом Божим,

and having a great priest over the house of God;

22 т о приступімо з щирим серцем, у повноті віри, окропивши серця від сумління лукавого та обмивши тіла чистою водою!

let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience: and having our body washed with pure water,

23 Т римаймо непохитне визнання надії, вірний бо Той, Хто обіцяв.

let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised:

24 І уважаймо один за одним для заохоти до любови й до добрих учинків.

and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works;

25 Н е кидаймо збору свого, як то звичай у деяких, але заохочуймося, і тим більше, скільки більше ви бачите, що зближається день той.

not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day drawing nigh.

26 Б о як ми грішимо самовільно, одержавши пізнання правди, то вже за гріхи не знаходиться жертви,

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins,

27 а страшливе якесь сподівання суду та гнів палючий, що має пожерти противників.

but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which shall devour the adversaries.

28 Х то відкидає Закона Мойсея, такий немилосердно вмирає при двох чи трьох свідках,

A man that hath set at nought Moses law dieth without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses:

29 с кільки ж більшої муки, додумуєтеся? заслуговує той, хто потоптав Сина Божого, і хто кров заповіту, що нею освячений, за звичайну вважав, і хто Духа благодаті зневажив!

of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

30 Б о знаємо Того, Хто сказав: Мені помста належить, Я відплачу, говорить Господь. І ще: Господь буде судити народа Свого!

For we know him that said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

31 С трашна річ упасти в руки Бога Живого!

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32 З гадайте ж про перші дні ваші, як ви просвітилися й витерпіли запеклу боротьбу страждань.

But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were enlightened, ye endured a great conflict of sufferings;

33 В и були то видовищем зневаги й знущання, то були учасниками тих, що жили так.

partly, being made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, becoming partakers with them that were so used.

34 В и бо страждали й з ув'язненими, і грабунок свого майна прийняли з потіхою, відаючи, що маєте в небі для себе майно неминуще та краще.

For ye both had compassion on them that were in bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of you possessions, knowing that ye have for yourselves a better possession and an abiding one.

35 Т ож не відкидайте відваги своєї, бо має велику нагороду вона.

Cast not away therefore your boldness, which hath great recompense of reward.

36 Б о вам терпеливість потрібна, щоб Божу волю вчинити й прийняти обітницю.

For ye have need of patience, that, having done the will of God, ye may receive the promise.

37 Б о ще мало, дуже мало, і Той, хто має прийти, прийде й баритись не буде!

For yet a very little while, He that cometh shall come, and shall not tarry.

38 А праведний житиме вірою. І: Коли захитається він, то душа Моя його не вподобає.

But my righteous one shall live by faith: And if he shrink back, my soul hath no pleasure in him.

39 М и ж не з тих, хто хитається на загибіль, але віруємо на спасіння душі.

But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; but of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul.
